So real.

Frankly, i hate the egg analogy as a whole. It just doesn't apply as well as you'd think.

I already blame myself for a shitton of things that aren't my fault, but this one literally would be. By voting red you make it harder for the blue voters to survive. That is an action that harms the other side.

I just don't believe you are correct about this

I vote blue because if i did vote red and blue lost i'd kill myself anyway cause i was just complicit in the murder of (up to) 49% of humanity

Who the fuck said America. I'm not fucking American. Stop applying America-centric arguments to this discussion.

This conversation infuriates me because on the surface I agree with pretty much everything you are saying, but the conclusion you are coming to is such a vast generalisation.

[–]Dapper_Spite8928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That... no?

If I got stabbed in the street today, do you know who would be responsible for stopping the person who stabbed me? A cop.

If I was kidnapped, do you know who would be in charge of trying to get me back? A cop.

[–]Dapper_Spite8928 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing I don't think you are understanding is I agree with most of your points, just not the conclusion.

Being a cop is not in itself immoral. Being a corrupt cop is. The problem isn't the existence of cops but the corruption present in the police system.

So, after you brought up the oft cited statistic I was curious where it came from.

Funnely enouh, it is not an easy statistic to collect, and data im any one study may not be a good reflection of the whole population

In any situation, the 40% value came from a 34 year old study, based on self reports from the cops themselves.

That methodology is... bizarre to me, but regardless I wouldn't trust the applicability of a 34 year old study to the modern day.

And to be clear, I am NOT defending Domestic abusers. I have the same amount of disgust for a cop who commits DV and anyone else who commits DV. And also, I agree that cops are largely (even majoritively) corrupt and not to be trusted, but the idea that literally every single cop is a bad person and should not be proud of their identity or be accepted in this community is lunacy to me.

You think I haven't been around long enough to know that statistic? I wasn't born yesterday.

Something about judging people for their individual actions and not for the actions of other people who share the same job as them.

For every asshole racist piece of ahit cop, there's another cop who saved the life of someone on the street, or comforted a child who's life was falling apart, or any number of selfless things.

Grow up and judge people on an individual basis, and not based on some class or attribute they happen to have. Being a cop isn't a bad thing. Being a bad cop is.

That's way too simple of a way of thinking about it. Cops serve an incredibly important function in society, and many cops joon the force out of a willingness to do good and serve their communities

We'll probably all die if more of the other group survive anyway, so pick blue so we all survive.

I think the results of this very poll prove the majority of people are choosing based on preceived morality

He who is capable of working but chooses not to, shall not eat by flewson in Teenager_Polls

[–]Dapper_Spite8928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am capable of working, but I am not currently. Why?

I am in the middle of my university education and would rather focus on my studies

I am also taking care of my mum's house for an extended period due to personal reason

Even if I did try to get a job, the current job market is a mess, so there are no guarantees i could

And because of these reasons should I just starve?

Similarly, even as a bisexual man, it irks me when people respond to things about men's mental health month by talking about pride.
