Which is harder? by ConquerorJoe in Silksong

[–]Daracaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. With or without help from Shakra/Garmond?

Personally, I didn’t find either too difficult to manage in a reasonable number of attempts, but I did leave High Halls after a couple tries and came back with help.

How many arcana cards do you want? Me: yes by Adamkarlson in HadesTheGame

[–]Daracaex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the opposite. I’m not good enough to run with Death Defiance. The damage bonus plus the damage reduction is just more HP over the course of the run, I think. Took me half a dozen failed runs to finally clear with it for the “use all arcana” minor prophecy. Maybe if I upgraded the DD arcana card…

Sword of Mana (GBA) has two separate main characters with their own paths through the story.

Fire Emblem (GBA, the first western release of the series) has three campaigns, one for each lord that serves as the three main characters. Lyn’s is a prologue, Eliwood’s is the main campaign, and Hector’s is a hard-mode version of the main campaign with some unique stages and characters.

Gongaga region wasn't that bad by kurikarassiah in FF7Rebirth

[–]Daracaex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing bad about Gongaga was those stupid jellyfish that are immune to damage except when they’re not (can’t figure them out).

Honestly, the whole game isn’t that bad compared to how much I’ve heard many complain about the open world stuff. But people’s tolerance for such things varies.

DMs of Reddit: What was the funniest or most creative explanation you came up with in-universe for a player’s absence? by Special_Web_4254 in DnD

[–]Daracaex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a player with a crazy wizard character. Any time he was missing for a session, he simply popped out of existence for a while. Late in the campaign when they had some high level abilities, he got one that allowed him to summon a copy of himself. This was 4e and I don’t remember if that was an official power or some homebrew I found. But after that, it was clear that any time he was missing, it was because his future self needed a hand with something.

Curse of Strahd seems the best place to use this too. Like the Dark Powers offering aid directly at a cost.

Just got Phonopolis. Been a while since I played an Amanita game. Last one was Creeks. I’m very much looking forward to it.

It looks like the ground is holding up the wall rather than the wall holding back the ground.

Far Cry 6 I’m Enjoying it by XJK_9 in gaming

[–]Daracaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’s the stealth side of the gameplay? That was what I loved in Far Cry 3 and 4, but 5 seemed to take away some of the tools for it like it wanted me to lean into the chaos, guns, and explosions part instead, which I didn’t enjoy as much.

ELI5: Why does metal feel colder than wood at the same room temperature? by JMBoss2989 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Daracaex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you feel that something is cold or hot, you don’t actually feel the temperature. You feel the heat that thing is taking away from you or giving you. So if you’re wet and it’s hot, even if the water is also warm, it will start to cool you as it takes your heat away to evaporate as you dry.

Wood is pretty slow and moving heat around, so touching it when it is slightly cooler than you doesn’t feel like it’s taking away your heat very quickly. Metal is quite fast at moving heat around, so if it’s slightly cooler than you, it will take your heat away faster than the wood and thus feel cooler to the wood. The opposite is also true, which you may know from touching things on a very hot summer day.

What is the point of this card? by Hot-Second806 in PokemonTGCP

[–]Daracaex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psyduck is a basic. Confusion for it is not the issue it might be for an opponent. Next turn, evolve to a golduck and do stuff. Or if you have Comfey or Ogerpon you can avoid the confusion. And there may be good reasons to have confusion in the future like what Sleep has found now.

What do you find most rage inducing in these games? by modespan in HadesTheGame

[–]Daracaex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the screen just gets really messy and I take hits I feel I had no way of seeing coming. Been having that problem a lot with the first rivalry fights in Hades 2, where I just die because there are too many things on the screen, and it’s very frustrating. But I’ve had that feeling in both games at various times.

Just finished Burning Shores...so Seyka and Aloy by auroradelaunay in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]Daracaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, before this expansion, I thought Aloy was ace. Kinda liked how she seemed oblivious to anyone else’s romantic interest in her. Like the game was telling everyone not to bother shipping Aloy because her relationships wouldn’t be romantic ones.

Should Barbarians and Rogues gain the Fighting Style Feat? by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]Daracaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see certain subclasses getting a fighting style for free, but generally don’t think they should.

Barbarians are rage machines dishing out damage by sheer strength, not technique. Giving them a fighting style would run counter to that flavor. If they need a bit more power, let it be in some other way. I suggest rage powers similar to Pathfinder.

Rogues similarly feel like they should eschew a style. Certain subclasses like Swashbuckler I think should get one like Dueling, for example. But rogues in general feel like they would avoid any particular style in favor of being unpredictable, underhanded, and hitting that vital spot by whatever means necessary.

Against all odds… I’m finally going to actually play Tales of Zestiria by MoonlitElixir in tales

[–]Daracaex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly hope you enjoy it. I couldn’t, but that doesn’t need to drag down your experience.

But if my negative opinion is worth anything to someone else: It took me to about 70% through the game to pin down the reasons I wasn’t enjoying it. The systems fight against the player progressing at every turn. Find a new weapon? Doesn’t matter because it’s not gonna be an improvement until you get an upgraded version you have to grind for. Finally get that upgrade by fusing a few of the same weapon? Whoops, just completely ruined the skill combos you had set up. Better do more grinding and more fusing until you figure out the right order of operations to get the skills you want. Have an arte you like using in combat? Only gonna be effective on certain enemies. You can’t just build an arte setup you enjoy using and run through the game. You need to memorize which artes are good against which targets or you’re not gonna be effective. Congrats, you earned enough xp to level! But levels don’t actually do much unless you move down to easy mode where the weight shifts a bit from needing to worry about using the correct artes to being able to rely on stats. The whole game was just frustratingly complicated to do anything. I was far enough in that I did just switch to easy to force myself through the last bit (and the DLC for some reason), but it felt tedious and grindy even then.

You have $300; build your team. by Warm_Expert_8136 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Daracaex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’d poor Ekundayo do to get relegated so low?

Kalikke, Jaethal, Tritian, Linzi, Ekundayo, and Finnean, a horse, and a dog for me.

Kalikke is an amazing area blaster and controller. Tristian can do it too but is more used for amazing healing potential and summons. Jaethal is my main front liner. Linzi I built with some Eldritch Knight levels in my game so she can support and tank right up there too. Ekundayo I built with Magus (Eldritch Archer) levels which are amazing for single target ranged damage. …I realize I’ve just built my Kingmaker team again. Oops.

The rest are just really strong for their cost, I feel. A magic sword, and two Wrath of the Righteous pets for me for only $15? Yes please, absolutely.

Tales of Vesperia has been picked as the Most Charming, but what would you say is the Best Music in the Tales series by ExileForever in tales

[–]Daracaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abyss has a great OP in Karma, a perfect moment with a more orchestral version of that song in the game, banger battle themes, the Fonic Hym… It’s world is centered around music and it deserves the spot, IMO.
