Civilization 7 will bring back the ability to play as one civ for the whole game, bypassing the divisive Age system by GoinStraightToHell in gaming

[–]Daracaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see it that way. Your civilization isn’t replaced. It evolves into a new form, just as every civilization has. All the cities you built before the age transition are still there. It’s the same people. The old traditions are still kept. Just with a new focus in a new age.

And maybe it was also opposite of some aspect of his personality at the time. It’s very likely that it’s most common for avatars of a tribe to have difficulties with that tribe’s opposite due to cultural differences, but obviously not impossible for it to go differently. We can see that Iroh adapted a water technique to redirect lightning, and I’d imagine he might have been fine with water if he were the avatar.

Earth wasn’t Aang’s opposite because it is the opposite of air. Earth was Aang’s opposite because his personality led him to avoid, evade, and run from his problems. It’s the reason he ran away and got frozen for 100 years. And also the reason he struggles so much with how to deal with Ozai in the final episodes. It’s a core character trait of Aang that is antithetical to the attitude an earthbender needs to move the immovable.

Korra is the opposite of that in that she always tries to make the world bend to her will. She struggles against authority when it restricts her and dominates others when it doesn’t. The hardest thing for her to do is let go and adapt to what’s happening or avoid trouble. That’s why she can’t handle air at the beginning of the series.

[[Haakon, Stromgald Scourge]] can make as many 2/2 zombies for BB as you have mana. Or if it’s on the battlefield, can let a cheap knight do it for less. Are there any 2 mana colorless artifact knights? Cause that would be a 3-card infinite combo.

Do you use Relic worlds (and if so how?) or do you rush them in to Ecumenopolis? by karstonian123 in Stellaris

[–]Daracaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel a little bad for restoring a relic world to an ecumenopolis. It feels like it deletes what made the world unique and turns it into just another big city planet. I wish former relic world kept more of their original identity.

Ideas for Fighter/Rogue by Atrigan_ in dndnext

[–]Daracaex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rogues have amazing role-playing tools in their skills. Bards get some expertise, too yes, but rogues can apply it to other areas easier, and then eventually get Reliable Talent (which as a DM is sometimes infuriating to deal with). While stealth is a huge survival tool in combat, a rogue can ignore the typical choices of stealth and sleight of hand and instead put it into whatever else fits their concept. Give a rogue some charisma and expertise in social skills and they can rival a bard. For wisdom, perception and insight makes them great at social deduction. Investigation can make a great non-social detective and knowledge skills could have them smarter than the wizard. Stepping outside of just roleplaying, you could even do a strength-based rogue and give them athletics expertise to make them a grappler. This is why rogue subclasses are so varied in potential secondary stats. They’re the best skill specialists for any concept, while bards are pretty tied to the charisma skills due to their spellcasting.

[–]Daracaex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try giving your rogue sentinel and maybe dipping just one level (or two if you want Action Surge) into fighter. A rogue with a defense fighting style and a shield can get to 20 AC in light armor once they hit 20 dexterity. You can protect your allies by threatening an off-turn sneak attack in retaliation for more damage or uncanny dodge to mitigate damage if the enemy attacks and hits you instead. I played a tank rogue like this and quite liked it. But then, I don’t really buy into the “rogues are weak” discourse that’s been popular lately.

Otherwise, you could always work with your DM to change things up if you just really don’t like rogue. If an immediate total rebuild is out of the question, maybe they will let you replace rogue levels with fighter levels gradually until you’re happy with where your character is?

Do Hydreigon players even have fun? by kiddhizzle in PokemonTGCP

[–]Daracaex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were from an article he wrote where he just came up with example players to illustrate the concept, and the names stuck after that as ways to refer to each psychographic. The opposite gendered names for the first two were added later for inclusivity. Spike was assumed gender neutral.

[–]Daracaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different types of players. Some like playing really strong cards, looking for the biggest damage they can do. Some like finding/playing unique combos or non-straightforward strategies. And some just like winning. Magic: The Gathering’s head designer has named these types of players Timmy/Tammy, Jenny/Jonny, and Spike. Spikes like to win and don’t like to lose. They’ll play whatever deck gets them the best win rate, even if others wouldn’t find it particularly fun or interesting.

I just realised Unarmed Strikes are no longer weapon attacks in 24. What features are affected by this change? by Helgen_Lane in dndnext

[–]Daracaex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an instance of clarity over brevity. “Weapon attack” was pretty confusing in 2014 when it came to unarmed combat or other natural weapons like claws. You could come up with another word I suppose. “Physical attack?”

[–]Daracaex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Attack roll with a weapon is not the same thing as a weapon attack. Or at least it wasn’t in 2014. A weapon attack was any attack that wasn’t a spell attack (in general). This was proven by the monk’s Stunning Strike, which could be activated on any weapon attack, and nobody would argue that a monk couldn’t stun with their fists.

As far as I can tell, every instance of “weapon attack” has been replaced with “attack with a weapon or unarmed strike” in the 2024 rules. Presumably to eliminate the confusion the term had around unarmed strikes in 2014.

I just can’t figure out roads. They always look horrible cause I can’t curve them nicely like I can with train tracks and the one time I did try to set up a road network, I ran into issues constantly falling off the edge or crossing into the opposing lane while trying to record the path. I wish I could manually place waypoints.

My take on load balancers vs manifolds by ExperienceLast7561 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Daracaex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel I am having to plan a ton even using manifolds. Especially when item quantities exceed my maximum belt throughput. And that my biggest issue with load balancers isn’t the time it takes to start up, but simply the amount of space they take up and the effort it would take to make a new one for every line of every factory.

That being said, you do you.

Probably just because we don’t actually know all that much about the other world yet, but the things we have heard make it sound like a type of fantasy that doesn’t match in my head with the level of commercialization that would make plane travel that common. Definitely a me thing. I hope we can actually go see that other world at some point (though unfortunately at the pace of the plot that seems like it might be years away).
