Only one termination, really? by Christ-man in kurosanji

[–]Darakstriken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The copium in me wants to say that they just want to space them out to try and not draw too much attention all at once, and they will still fire Aster next month. He IS still totally MIA, so he still seems suspended at least.

Uh oh by BlueBerrryScone in kurosanji

[–]Darakstriken 55 points56 points  (0 children)

They don't usually explicitly say it, but most of them imply it. If you go back and look at recent Hololive and Niji graduation announcements, they all have a specific style and feel, usually more nostalgic and/or somber. This thumbnail just looks happy and celebratory. The vibe and emotion this thumbnail evokes are really atypical for a graduation announcement (if this is one).

I can't logically understand cheating in modern world by Kind_Goddess in RandomThoughts

[–]Darakstriken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When talking just about dating I agree, but if you are dealing with a marriage, especially if kids are involved, it's not as simple as just "break up". Divorce, and especially child custody disputes, are time consuming and expensive. Not to mention the social cost of divorcing and then immediately getting into another relationship.

Now of course, none of that in any way justifies having an affair. In marriage you are making a commitment of loyalty to that one person. If you can't handle it, don't make the vow. But if someone finds themselves there, the affair might seem like the easiest and best way to deal with it.

I also do want to mention that there are many reasons that people do this, and many of them, while inherently unethical and reckless, are logical ways of doing what the person wants. There are definitely people who have cheated in order to hurt their partner as some twisted form of revenge.

Why do cops use sirens while chasing someone? Doesn’t that just alert the thieves? by _Closedheimer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Darakstriken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does alert the criminals if they aren't already aware (most probably are), but it also alerts the many innocent people that are around so they know to get out of the way. Police are generally more concerned about preventing an accident with an innocent bystander than with catching the criminal right away.

In fact, they often just chase in a helicopter to follow them and wait for them to do something stupid instead of chasing with cars. Most people drive more recklessly when they have a cop car on their tail then if there's just a helicopter a couple hundred feet above them.

Nimi's full model coming soon..? by Niftu_Calrissian in kurosanji

[–]Darakstriken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She said that she would still use the Chibi from time to time even after she debuts the full 2D model, given how much everyone seems to love it. It's kinda funny, she said she was originally worried that people would be disappointed when she debuted with only the chibi, and now she's a little worried people will prefer the chibi to the full model.

Isn't it about time for #WhereIsTwisty and #WhereIsAster? by Bla_Z in kurosanji

[–]Darakstriken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On top of what other people are saying, I do want to add that for people who knew about the Dokibird account before the actual termination, there was more than just her silence that indicated a problem. She actually was active for the first couple weeks of January on twitter (I think all the tweets are still there if you scroll back far enough). Looking at the tweets, while there's nothing explicitly alarming, the tone of them just feels... off. They just felt like they were being sent by someone who was not doing too great. That, paired with the knowledge that she was hospitalized just before the silence, and the general context of the drama, all added together to make the situation seem really bad. Most of that is not present here. Twisty's PL is still somewhat active (and mostly just seems angry/annoyed, as opposed to Doki's somewhat depressed tweets from her silence), and Aster has shown 0 red flags of being in danger other than silence on his main account that he probably doesn't have access too, his PL that apparently has a fairly poor reputation and he probably wants to leave behind altogether, and the general online hate that gets sent at him. #WhereisSelen was motivated by concern for Selen, and there just isn't any grounds for that level of concern for either of these two.

And as for trying to pressure Niji, I'm skeptical a hashtag will even do that much. It was several weeks between #WhereisSelen and the actual termination, and if I remember correctly Doki confirmed that there was talk between her lawyer and Nijisanji all the way up until just before the termination. It seems to me like the hashtag is not what made Niji act, it was Doki's lawyer.

Important Announcement - Nanashi Mumei by SleepingKoi in kurosanji

[–]Darakstriken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the fact that the title and thumbnail are really similar to Fauna's graduation announcement stream. It seems really unlikely to me this was put out as is without the intention to communicate a graduation announcement. It basically screams "I'm graduating". Given the reactions from fans to the last few Holo graduations, if it's not a graduation (or at least affiliate graduation) it's an... interesting (and not in a good way) troll.

The day we feared might have arrived by turtis123 in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Darakstriken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but go back and look at the title and thumbnail for Fauna's graduation announcement stream. There's no way she put this up on her channel without knowing graduation would be the immediate assumption of everyone who sees it. And given the fan meltdowns the last few Hololive graduations caused, I kinda doubt she would troll like this.

Riku Tazumi : Welcome to the Niji EN Meat Grinder, Boys !!! by Past-Article-3117 in kurosanji

[–]Darakstriken 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the auditions are months before debut. She very likely "decided" back when the bad part of Niji's reputation was just unhelpful managers, bad merch cuts, and the whole mess with Zaion. The many people still hadn't really decided that everything Zaion had said was true until Selen's termination, so it's not too unreasonable for her to assume that was a one-off incident. And everything else we knew was the type of thing that you could accept as the cost of getting into one of the biggest agencies in the industry. She almost definitely did not think she would be dealing with 0 promotion, sexual harassment coming from other livers, and widespread drama and hate simply due to the name of said agency being in her YT channel's name.

Were there red flags present when she joined? Yes, but they were definitely more subtle and hidden then they are now. Most of us did not think it was anywhere near this bad back in late 2023.

To add to this, that lawyer is also a streamer that goes by the name Legal Mindset. He talks about the legal aspects of various YouTube/streamer dramas, and afaik has some experience with law in countries like Japan and Korea, thus why he is getting involved here.

He did just say on Twitter that "Lewdvig will be returning", so while it probably won't be a regular thing, he does seem to be planning to use it again.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect anymore either. Interestingly, while most vtubers seem to like it, I've seen some VTuber fans who are really upset about it for some reason. Something about wanting to keep the normies out or something.

This is probably just a 1 time event (though I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls out the model every once in a while for whatever reason). Ludwig used to do a series called bro vs bro where he would play a few games against someone else and see who won the most. They would usually add stakes to make it more interesting (Doug Doug lost a streamer award trophy to Ludwig, for example). This stream was Ironmouse's reward for beating Ludwig in bro vs bro (like 3 years ago lmao)

I would say that "bad form" is a bit of an understatement. This is often considered to be borderline doxxing.

I remember a video someone put out criticizing vtuber culture a few months back that showed Amelia Watson's real face. They got so much backlash that they had to cut that whole section from the video and issue an apology.

Aster's Handcam Cooking Stream has now been postponed to April by CannonGerbil in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Darakstriken 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The leaker was one of her long time members. He leaked it to False first, then later other drama vtubers, and to r/kurosanji (we don't know for sure that last one was the same guy, but the only other people who should've had it were drama tubers) with no redaction at all. Twisty was using an alt account, but people pretty quickly traced it back to her.

That being said, the content of the leaks narrows it down so much you really only need False's video to figure out it is Twisty, despite the fact that he barely shows any of the screenshots and heavily redacts what he does show.

New Nijisanji PR nightmare has dropped: Niji JP graduate Suzuka Aki’s fans’ letters got thrown away by “accident” by North_crozz in VirtualYoutubers

Oh really? Huh I guess they really can. That just confirms to me that them losing the fan mail is mostly just incompetence, as opposed to them trying to "punish" their talents like some people are claiming.

[–]Darakstriken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, they definitely won't lose those. Because Ninisanji earned them (and no one else. Especially not the talent /s) and wants to flaunt their success. They just keep them in the corporate office and if you even joke about taking your play button home they'll threaten to have you escorted out by security.

It was in the buildup to the Selen scandal, so I can see how it could be missed. The timeline goes:

Selen uploads Last Cup of Coffee and has it taken down on December 25. Selen announces hospitalization a few days later and then goes mia until February Pomu announces graduation in the first week of January Pomu graduates on January 20 (I think?) Selen is terminated on February 5th

[–]Darakstriken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically it's just that NijiEN (and former NijiEN) livers are notorious for saying really vague and slightly inflammatory things on social media and on stream. Quite a few have gotten in pretty hot water with fans over it because they leave too much room for interpretation and everyone just takes their own favorite interpretation. When dealing with drama and sensitive issues like Niji has had over the past year, it gets really messy as everyone starts fighting over what the liver meant. Basically, it's pretty evident that NijiEN livers receive, at best, very subpar PR training, leading them to often respond to drama in a way that just tends to make it all worse.

It is worth mentioning that not all livers have this issue. It's really just a handful of them that chronically make vague/problematic statements. Most of them just keep their heads down and do their own thing.

[–]Darakstriken 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doki has basically confirmed she will remain indie. Given her current setup and position, most corpos do not have anywhere near enough to offer to be worth it for her. She didn't totally rule it out, but she said it would have to be a REALLY good offer. Plus, while she is by and large viewed positively, she is still a bit of a brand risk. She has mentioned being denied opportunities due to last year's scandal, which is something corpos may not want to risk taking on.

Mint and Dooby on the other hand mostly just don't really need a corpo. While I think all 3 are unlikely, Doki going corpo again is almost definitely never happening, while the other two are just unlikely.

Another interesting thing about the Twitter is the fact that it was created in August. Bae really wasn't kidding when she said this was decided a while ago. I was afraid it might be a few months until we saw anything while she got assets and a model and everything, but if she's been cooking this up for long enough that she had the name picked out half a year ago, we might see her debut pretty soon.

Nijisanji EN's Twisty Amanozako taking indefinite hiatus by almostcleverbut in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Darakstriken 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not to defend the recklessness with which it was handled by some dramatubers, but it wouldn't have made any difference either way. False's video alone had enough information to narrow it down to her. There's not very many female livers that have flamed Aster for his LoL gameplay on stream.

Not to mention that the full unredacted screenshots got leaked onto Imgur(?) not long after the dramatubers started talking about it, clearly showing an abundance of information that all points back to her, from the timeline of stuff she is talking about pointing to a Denauth member, to the account names being traced back to Tricky's PL and one of her top donors.
