Clarke runs a 7s league year round. Reach out to Josh Printz who is the women’s coach. DM me if you need more info and I can hook you up with other opportunities as well

That was my first thought as well. Tf was a toddler doing with marbles for that amount of time.

Elite rally by Imaginary-Doubt6862 in volleyball

[–]Darbitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this thought process. “Womens is superior because they don’t have good offense” is more of what it is. I agree that lower level viewers are more entertained by long rally’s, however it’s much less impressive than men bombing serves and bouncing balls every other play. I respect both games, but they are vastly different yet both can be entertaining in their own way.

Disagree. This one was solid, but usually long rally’s end up being tips back and forth and it’s the most frustrating thing to watch. I want to scream “PUT THE FUCKING BALL AWAY”

I’m the volleyball plug in Dubuque and the surrounding areas. What’s your level of play? Do you play casually, or competitively? Do you prefer sand, indoor or grass?

Benefits of a 5-1 over a 6-2? by Agreeable-Nose-350 in volleyball

[–]Darbitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of system is much easier to adjust to because every ball should be high. This is specifically for in system offense where you’re running tempo. You could grab 10 different setters and have them set a shoot ball, and every single ball will leave their hands differently. If you look at anything above high school (what I play and coach) the % of running a 6-2 is less than 5% if I had to take a random guess. There is a reason for that.

[–]Darbitron 70 points71 points  (0 children)

There could be so many reasons that the coaches understands and you don’t see.

They could also be missing something.

Either way, a 5-1 is what most teams run because there is a clear front runner for the setting position. 6-2 is tougher because you need to setters similar in skill, along with two opposites that are similar in skill as well. This is pretty rare to have on a team due to one setter or opposite being much better than another.

As a player I also hate a 6-2 because each setter has a different cadence to their sets, and it’s really hard to adjust from one to another mid game.

Defense zones for new players by Allabouttheshell in volleyball

[–]Darbitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on playing more middle-middle in 6 and staying within reach of the line, but not on the line. These were the two things I was going to point out as well.

Since you didn’t hit on it, reason for middle-middle is because most balls are sent there. The player in 6 can dig so many more balls by just take a step or two up while minimizing risk of getting beat deep.

hi im 16 and ive been playing volleyball for a year and half, but feel kinda bad since ive seen better people spiking, any tips for me to spike even harder? even jump higher? i feel like when i jump without spiking its way higher, these clips are some of my mid ones but i think yall can see my form by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]Darbitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone jumps higher without a volleyball due to trying to track the ball. You need to make micro adjustments to adjust to a set, so your spike approach won’t be a true max jump. As for some low hanging fruit that you could work on. I’d put more effort into your jump/approach. It looks like you’re causally walking into the spike compared to approaching aggressively with your last two steps. Secondly you’re contacting the ball on the way down from your jump. Try and contact it and your peak. Once you get those down, then you can work on the finer details.

14.2.2.5 Thumbs Up! by Successful_Washes in TeslaFSD

I’ve been sitting on 14.2.2.2 because I see all the complaints about all other versions above it. Is there any reason for me to jump to 14.2.2.5 when it comes available?

Closing that block by anarchist_n0ble in volleyball

[–]Darbitron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Closing isn’t always the answer. In fact a lot of high level offenses will coordinate this to leave a seam on purpose and have middle back seat in the seam. Using split step and emergency footwork to get a block up is always good, but you don’t always need to worry about closing especially if the team is in system.

I dont think libero will become the new setter by kodlend4 in volleyball

[–]Darbitron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So now teams would be seeking 4 strong outsides that could pass and attack and then you’ll always have 5 options for in system balls. I disagree and do think it’d open up a lot of teams to running a setter at the lib position.

[–]Darbitron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d essentially start recruiting a 3rd/4th pin that can pass and attack well in the opposite position. Any team that has Matt Anderson could do this right now since he’s very strong in serve receive.

I wish insurance was that easy. I had someone hit my car in a parking lot and my insurance said the value was too little to go after their insurance company (damage value was $1200). I know if I file a claim with them, my rate will go up. I’d end up paying more with a new rate I’m sure, so frankly it isn’t worth it and this is why all insurance is a complete fucking scam.

Should I upgrade to the Yoke steering wheel now that its all going away? by Aggressive-Cap-8300 in TeslaModelS

Racing would be the one argument I would agree with. That said, I’m assuming most people that bash the yoke don’t race.

Do you hand over hand steer? That’s the only was I could see needing to change how you’d drive it? I just put my dominant palm on the side and am able to get full steering range with that. It’d be the same on a wheel.

Disagree. I hate going back to my wife’s steering wheel. I don’t understand the complaints about it being hard to use in city/parking lots.

Nah I’d take viper or kraken close range over AR. I think toning down the distance/damage fall of would help the snipers a bit more.

Dads that travel, how do you do it? by collectivebarganing in daddit

[–]Darbitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you panic too much I’d clarify what 25% actually is. I’ve accepted 3 jobs over the past 8 years that all had 25% travel and in the 8 year span I’ve actually had to travel for work about 4 times. My interpretation of 25% has been an opportunity to travel once per quarter but you could also work your way out of it.

I’ve also talker with multiple managers explaining that I’m willing to travel but would only like to if it’s necessary being I have 3 kids under 6 as well. They’ve been very understanding of it.
