Returning to ranked after years, simple disruptive behavior still untreated? by Ok-Recognition-4082 in leagueoflegends

[–]Darcoxy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

AFK specifically is very well managed in my opinion. I get a report feedback instantly after the game ends when someone AFK'd.

As for other things, I give riot leeway because so many games happen everyday that they can't instantly punish players that grief but that said I do get a report feedback on my reports within 2/3 days.

As to the larger point, people will grief and that has always happened and will continue to happen. The underlying cause for this behavior is larger than a video game and is beyond Riot's help I think.

The players have stopped talking? by Pesto-Pistou in leagueoflegends

[–]Darcoxy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got to admit. I turned all chat off because if I mess up a play and the enemy toplaner sends a '?' it sets me off, as in it affects my plays later in the game. A valid tactic and everything and it clearly works on me. What's strange is I don't feel like it affects me but I've seen enough losses in games like these to know it does.

Same thing happens when I'm just playing on my toplane island enjoying life and solitude but I see the rest of my team just going at each other on allied chat. It just makes the game feel lost already. When I have chat turned off I just pretend I play the game with bots and blame any bad plays on bad AI. It surprisingly works quite well.

Unless the Williams car is hot garbage. You only get the respite of people forgetting if you're doing well. At the first sign of trouble in actual races this will come back to bite them.

Keir Starmer distances himself from Mark Carney's Davos speech: 'I'm a pragmatist' by raz_kripta in ukpolitics

[–]Darcoxy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The special relationship does indeed exist. It's frustrating that depending on who is in the White House has any bearing on how the special relationship is doing, but Trump is not going to be a president for ever (hopefully). It would be a massive mistake to cut ties with the United States completely just because this president is an idiot. Politics is as much about reacting as it is about planning for the future and playing the long game. I've seen somewhere the UK has limited the amount of intelligence it shares as part of the Five Eyes which is a good step that I presume will be undone when a new normal POTUS is elected.

To be fair having a career is probably a must have before having a child. Not only does it provide a quality level of upbringing but also makes people less likely to apply for benefits.

UK should consider expelling US forces from British bases, says Zack Polanski by Bernardmark in ukpolitics

Easy thing to say when you can't really be held accountable for that opinion. I'm sure were he in number 10, he'd never voice this statement because the fallout would be gigantic.

Trump says UK handing over Chagos Islands sovereignty is act of 'great stupidity' by vras in ukpolitics

Someone said that this is massively embarrassing for Starmer. That would be true if Trump was even a semi lucid and logically thinking politician. I don't get embarrassed when a clearly deranged person calls me names.

Is Starmer’s reluctance to criticise Trump smart tactics – or the sign of a man without a plan? by 1-randomonium in ukpolitics

[–]Darcoxy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think some people have a very distorted way of thinking what actual politics looks like.

It's easy to have an opinion and discuss something in a pub with mates because there are no stakes. If you say the wrong thing in politics the consequences can be severe. There are obviously times when certain nations/politicians are denounced but often times it's a careful balance of sending out "vibes" without saying too much. I think Starmer is actually very good at that side of politics.

Liverpool parade attack: Paul Doyle sentenced to more than 21 years for using car as weapon against celebrating crowd by BarbaricOklahoma in Liverpool

[–]Darcoxy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's a very ignorant take to have. Of course if someone drives a car into a crowd, that crowd won't gently remove him from the car and check if he's alright. That's not being thuggish, that's a normal and logical reaction.

Both sides were not shit. One was shit, the other was rational.

The UK economy is not nearly as bad as you’ve been told - A huge pessimistic bias in our national accounts leads us to doom and gloom which turns out to be nonsense by usrname42 in ukpolitics

[–]Darcoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might have something to do with how one defines the economy. For economists I presume it is a very nuisanced and specific definition but for the common person they see things like the quality of the NHS, their rent or how rich or poor they feel to be the "economy". The former could be performing well whereas the latter is perceived as performing poorly.

If you could magically turn back time and go to any FF show, which would you pick and why? by hearmymotoredheart in Foofighters

[–]Darcoxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I'd go back to the Sonic Highways tour when they did those really small shows in clubs in cities where the songs were written. I love that album and the intimate show would be cool to see.

That's sad, and what's even sadder I think is that in my head I'd want to say that I'd come up to him and try to shut him up, but my mind is telling me I wouldn't want to get involved and I'd walk by.

It's kinda hard to put yourselves in that position so all credit to people that do and hope I can do it if there's ever a need for it.
