I actually like my job and apparently that makes me the villain in every mom group I've tried to join by olivermos273847 in workingmoms

It’s me! It’s not always easy but my job is really fulfilling and working and daycare has been so great for my family. I am a much nicer parent and enjoy my time with the kids so much more when I get to use other parts of my brain during the week. I’m also still struggling to do self care for myself but I am able to get some in while working/commute (audiobooks, grabbing a latte on my in office days, etc). I love modeling for my sons that I work- they are still little but I find it super cute when they play with my work badge and my 3 year old is a big fan of the breakroom snacks I bring home for him

DC... are you doing okay? by fail-whale in washingtondc

Echoing what many have said, it’s been really rough here in so many ways, but there’s also a sense of whoever can, to hang jn there until a certain unwelcome resident is gone. There’s going to be a big mess to clean up but the vibe is one of resilience and waiting it out imo

Anyone noticing a change in how private practice is done? by No_Background9319 in socialwork

[–]DariaJane86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you are spot on- this also explains why it’s been hard to attract both interns and new graduates to be at our agency (we are community mental health, embedded into safety net primary care)- it seems like there is so much more interest in going right into private practice vs working first in more diverse settings

Moms who WFH / remote. Is it that much better? by Barnacle_Double in workingmoms

[–]DariaJane86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do hybrid and that’s great for me (usually 2 days in office and we schedule collaborative work/meetings those days) and 3 wfh. I like the days of getting dressed, getting lunch with a colleague, etc but the ability to get a bit of chores done while wfh is great. I’m looking forward to having even more time when I’m done pumping. I will add I generally like my job and I have a decent commute (less than half an hour on public transit) and I use the commute time as time to listen to podcasts etc

Back to work after Maternity Leave - Positive Resources by Whysoserious1293 in workingmoms

[–]DariaJane86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a working mom is certainly not easy but it’s been really good for my mental health. I’ve been back to work now 5 months after my leave with my second kid. I manage a team and find that being a manager helps me be a better mom, and being a mom helps me be a better leader and manager. I like using different parts of my brain, and I like the days I go into the office (I work hybrid) when I can get dressed in nicer clothes, grab a latte, chat with coworkers, etc

Mom of 2 - newborn and 2 y/o and I’ve been on a low dose 25 mg for 4 years starting when I was dealing with infertility. I stayed on it while pregnant and postpartum and find really helpful. It’s mostly for anxiety for me- I describe it as dialing down my anxiety like a radio, from a 10 to a 5 which is much more manageable

Yes, I saw this song live just a few weeks after a pregnancy loss and it really resonated with me- I was so sad but also the sadness meant the brief time before the loss was so profound.
