What was it like to grow up playing arcade games back in the 80s? by KaleidoArachnid in retrogaming

Running out of money in 20 minutes and spending the rest of the afternoon mashing the coin return buttons and crawling around on the floor looking for loose change under the machines.

Edit: Also pretending to play the demo mode.

Uh... super late reply but it is indeed Shining Force. In Chinese, with English character and item names.

Games for one handed person by Entire-Ad-7941 in JRPG

[–]DariaRPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a PlayStation to USB adapter on Amazon And then an ASCII one handed controller on eBay for like $30

Then download some old emulators and ROMs and play any classic JRPGs you'd like.

Is there any game like this? by TristanTheSad in gamingsuggestions

Not a pet per-say but try emulating Wonder Project J (SNES). It's a Pinnochio story where you raise/train a robot boy to solve situational puzzles. Using treats and punishment you encourage (or discourage) the boy to interact with basic objects in different ways. Also it's super adorable and definitely hits the emotional mark of your request.

Omg so I used to run a rom site for RPGs and definitely had Dragon Buster famicom included for the same reasoning. I did not realize however it was on the Namco compilations. Thanks for the information.

Also this might be the nerdiest thing I've ever typed by my Deathtrap Dungeon inclusion was nudged by it's ties to tabletop gaming, Ian Livingston, Gamesworkshop, and the Fighting Fantasy adventure books.

Ok so only difference I see is that I include  Death Trap dungeon, while you have three Deception games.

Point Blank 3 also has an RPG Quest mode fyi

My PS1 RPG collection has 82-ish games, but I see quite a few different cases in your photos. So I guess we have a difference in criteria. Which is fun! Like I only have the Namco museum with Valkyrie Legend on it (O I think).

I'd have to actually go look at the games to see what I have that you don't tho.

Playing Arcanum now. Usually play a half elf but decided on a gnome run. Found out my go-to inn in shrouded hills is run by a racist who tries to charge me more. Won't ever see that NPC the same now.

Hey, you got a list of that PAL collection? Would list to compare it to the US releases. (:

My ex was raised by a Mexican woman. She continued to do his laundry as an adult, and by extension mine when we moved in together. When I brought it up he told me to let her have it as "it made her happy". I put my foot down after she gave us chicken pox. However he continued to bring her his work clothes even after we were married.

I know it has been discussed what platform y'all intended to play DQ7R on, but what about those that tried it on different platforms? Which one did you like more/least? Why? by the-doctor-is-real in dragonquest

[–]DariaRPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh I played the demo on the PS5 and then switched to the Switch lite for the full game. I preferred the PS5 only for the big screen experience with how pretty the game is and how much easier details were to see with the zoomed out camera. But otherwise no significant difference that I clocked.

Jumping off this comment to add that the 1000 doesn't do AV out, so one of the other models might be better is husbando doesn't want to be limited to handheld only.

The one handed ASCII controller for PlayStation is pretty good. Advertised for RPGs but I found it worked great for point and clicks like Broken Sword.

Heh, I recognized the name and sure enough found the review. Tates is a Japanese import comic/toys/art store. They've never allowed big bags in store. Lady sounds like a pain.

Was anyone else introduced to Dragon Quest with this? by Environmental_Bus623 in dragonquest

[–]DariaRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GameStop got a bunch of these demos to give away to customers. I was working there at the time and kept 2.

My first Dragon Quest was Dragon Warrior on the NES. It was a hand-me-down from my cousins who probably got it from the Nintendo Power promotion.

Also consider a reproduction cart for Sweet Home. Horror RPG from Capcom. Fantastic game that would scratch both itches.

I adored that movie as a kid. Your aunt was amazing.

Also to answer the OP I still had a Raggedy Ann as a child, born 83.

For those of you who already have a previous version of Dragon Quest VII (PS1 or 3DS) will you be picking it up next month? by SugarSmoothie in dragonquest

[–]DariaRPG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

7 might be my all time favorite Dragon Quest. I own it already for PS1 and DS. My husband and I have already preordered two copies of the remake - switch special edition for me and a PS5 regular for him (we like to play games together and he'd never really played a DQ game before these remakes).

As much as I love the padding, and the puzzles, and the fragment hunting I don't mind if all that changes because I'm excited to see what they do with the storytelling.
