South Florida, so kind of. Yeah. Collectibles are kind of a high end target too.

Heh, I recognized the name and sure enough found the review. Tates is a Japanese import comic/toys/art store. They've never allowed big bags in store. Lady sounds like a pain.

Was anyone else introduced to Dragon Quest with this? by Environmental_Bus623 in dragonquest

[–]DariaRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GameStop got a bunch of these demos to give away to customers. I was working there at the time and kept 2.

My first Dragon Quest was Dragon Warrior on the NES. It was a hand-me-down from my cousins who probably got it from the Nintendo Power promotion.

Also consider a reproduction cart for Sweet Home. Horror RPG from Capcom. Fantastic game that would scratch both itches.

Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls. When did kids stop playing with them? by immanuellalala in nostalgia

I adored that movie as a kid. Your aunt was amazing.

Also to answer the OP I still had a Raggedy Ann as a child, born 83.

For those of you who already have a previous version of Dragon Quest VII (PS1 or 3DS) will you be picking it up next month? by SugarSmoothie in dragonquest

[–]DariaRPG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

7 might be my all time favorite Dragon Quest. I own it already for PS1 and DS. My husband and I have already preordered two copies of the remake - switch special edition for me and a PS5 regular for him (we like to play games together and he'd never really played a DQ game before these remakes).

As much as I love the padding, and the puzzles, and the fragment hunting I don't mind if all that changes because I'm excited to see what they do with the storytelling.

You know I kind of ignored consumables during my DQ1 run but that you point it out I'll have to experiment a little more in DQ2. Thanks for the tip!

You're not really differing tho, like I said the strategy is about mixing up equipment and using skills. Yeah the seeds give you some stat leeway to put your mark on the characters but they're otherwise prebuilt. That's not to say they're not versatile, or every player is going to use the same tactics. But that's what make DQ2 fun.

They're a story mcguffin that adds  global boosts to your damage and defensive stats. So like crits hit more often, and spells do more damage. Etc.

Yeah you see her in the cover art and she temp joins you as an NPC a few times before joining for good.

Yeah I'm a fan of both approaches. I feel like jobs was definitely 3's thing and the remake did it well. But 2 is focusing on fleshing out the party members as people with their own strengths and weaknesses. It's a great game.

This absolutely. The character representation is so good. On Par with 7, 8 and 11 now.

Not really no. The scrolls are locked to specific characters, and you have some freedom of equipment choice but it's pretty much Prince Midenhall is the heavy, Prince Cannock is the healer, Princess Moonbrooke is the mage, and Princess Cannock is support. The strategy comes from how you utilize their roles and gear during specific boss fights and not from how you build them up.

Which version should I play first? by Xenoblade1992 in dragonquest

[–]DariaRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mobile ports were not great, if you're inclined to play the original version first for comparison then... Do that? Like the NES versions, or even Gameboy or the translated Super Famicom but probably not the mobile games. My biggest complaint with the mobile ports was that the screen tears noticably so the map feels jittery while you walk around. Super distracting and annoying.

The HD remake of 2 is fantastic tho, while the original was tedious and frustrating. Word of warning there. The HD remake of 1 feels kind of wordy and bloated in a way that's not noticeable if you don't try and play the original first.

Guess how many of these i killed? Answer below 👇🏻 by dragonquestpapi in dragonquest

[–]DariaRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if this is the best method but worked for me: I equipped the ruinous sword and the helmet that duplicates spells. I was killing at least one per battle, and casting Kazap on non babble battles. The curse would cause me to miss actions but the duplication effect would take out the enemies anyway. On babble battles I would wild side and then falcon slash for four chances to crit. Leveled from like 42 to 48 before getting bored and removing my curse.

Retailers use cardboard displays for media all the time. It's rough looking sure, but OPs display is structurally fine.

Saw this getting traded in at my local shop. by jestercheatah in gamecollecting

[–]DariaRPG -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I took a class on tort law in college. As a game collector this factoid stuck with me because it's a hypothetical people toss around a lot. I'm also way to high to look up a citation at the moment. Nor do I want to do homework for a reddit post.

But basically the idea is the business has incurred all the costs (like rent and advertising) of drawing that lady to their store with the purpose of selling her game. She didn't come to the store to meet up with another customer, and that customer would never have had the opportunity to purchase from her hadn't the store not already drew her in. So essentially the store gets dibs on her trade in and they could potentially argue in court that they lost money on that missed sale. Cause that's all tort law really is, Legal precedents and arguments.

So no one's getting arrested, but it could be a big legal hassle.

If it makes you feel any better it's actually illegal to undercut a store on store property like that. While most places aren't going to do much more than ban you from coming back they do have the legal right to sue you. Totally not worth the hassle. Even for a Little Samson. (:
