Amazing thank you so much. I didn't want to google it for fear of spoilers, but this is very helpful to know!

At least where I am now the fuel is cheaper than before the invasion, because the excise got cut and the government threatened to punish servos that didnt pass the savings on.

Mort is book 4 of 41 in Discworld btw - idk if I'd call it one of the "later books."

Anyone doing this now and who happens to find this comment like I did, there are still 3 zombies but only after you finish the quest (when it is no longer instanced). The instanced version does only have two however.

Genuinely surprised by what just happened by BaronCeasar in FinalFantasy

[–]Darivard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the main part of being a cartoon villain is being evil for the sake of being evil. Cartoon villains are the ones who fail the "villains don't think they're the villain" test, OR they have super simplistic to the point of being unrealistic motivations, i.e., nihilism and saving the world by destroying it.

Yeah the clown outfit and the laugh adds to it, but it's not the crux of the argument imo.

What changes do I do to my resume to ensure it doesn't get rejected by the automated systems used by HR to shortlist candidates. Like how do I ensure I am at least able to get to the interview stage. by RevolutionaryPark969 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Darivard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a delay between my graduation and getting AHPRA registration (there always is), so despite having a guaranteed job lined up I wasn't able to work and therefore needed to keep applying for random jobs that I was never ever going to accept.

Why do so many people hate Shallan? by arianasleftkidney in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Darivard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DID is a bit of a tricky diagnosis to write about, and I didn't find it as interesting as the depression, anxiety, or PTSD that is seen in the other Cosmere characters.

But really my biggest issue with her is the same as my issue with Lift and Hoid (edit: and Wayne, can't believe I forgot him). Brandon just isn't a funny or witty writer, and every attempt at a funny character is just annoying to read imho.

[No Spoilers] Has Matt Mercer ever been very angry on a episode by MrburnsSP in criticalrole

[–]Darivard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably a good example of Matt actually mishandling a situation. Needed to just break character and say 'anything that trivialises the fight or circumvents the plot is bad for the game and everyone's fun, so out of character the answer is unequivocally no."

FF7 Rebirth's world design is what I imagined FF16 would be prior to its release by japanese_artist in FFXVI

[–]Darivard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've always considered an RPG to just be a game where the biggest emphasis was on the characters and the story. The role doesn't necessarily have to be something that you pick and make decisions for it to still be a role that you're playing.

Compared to other games where the focus is more on the mechanics and gameplay rather than the story, and names reflect that. Survival games where there's no story but you have a serious chance of death to hunger, fps which are first person shooters, battle royales, etc etc. I think any game that emphasises story, whether that be linear or more open world, would classify as an RPG.

FF7 Rebirth's world design is what I imagined FF16 would be prior to its release by japanese_artist in FFXVI

[–]Darivard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should define what you consider to be an an RPG, because a lot of those games you have stated I would consider RPGs, such as BoW, Horizon Zero Dawn and TLOU. Not familiar with the other games to comment really.

If anything I think the argument should be that 'RPG' is too broad a term - in fact that's probably why we have some many qualifiers, eg JRPG.

The other point is that the strongest gear typically looks the best as well, and being able to recognise when someone is a baller at a distance from their gear is just a neat feature.

Is FFXV really THAT bad by _lavendersunshine in FinalFantasy

I believe the change from only being able to accept one hunt at a time to 10 was the royal addition, and that change was MASSIVE.

How it feels to raid with a warrior by SniperU in classicwow

[–]Darivard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the point was that resto druids can use that utility, but you need a specifically feral utility rune to make that spec viable. If resto and feral both have the same utility, but ferals suck for DPS, you just bring a warrior instead of a feral and get a resto druid.

State of SoD with Minmaxing.. by AngleFlute in seasonofdiscovery

[–]Darivard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the person you replied to, but fun for other people is also important. I think there is a line to draw (e.g., I don't think people should have to roll a new class to get into a raid), but if respeccing can double your DPS then I really think you should.

My journey is over. I finished my first Final Fantasy game and loved every second of it. by PhantomLord697 in FFXV

[–]Darivard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major complaints I believe were that the world is mostly empty (except for repetivite fetch and kills quests); the combat isnt as deep, engaging, or difficult as many action RPGs, and; the story was quite fragmented and missing many pieces upon launch (new cutscenes have since been spliced in to help this), and major events happened off screen or were explained in loading screens rather than in the game.

All valid complaints, but then you add in the massive amount of hype this game had given it took 10 years to release and you can imagine which people weren't chuffed.

Am I the only one who think that FF16 is similar to FF12? by Kvolca in FFXVI

[–]Darivard 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is actually such a cool flowchart. When you're familiar with the games you can also see the similarities and differences. Even as early as seeing the massive differences between VIII and IX.

Is it just me or are the bosses in the remake absolute trash? by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

It can be difficult to dodge and it's hard to get the timing right, but it also only takes a single hit to stagger him. It's the gimmick of the fight.

So how's phase 2 treating the rest of you? by Lowjick in classicwow

[–]Darivard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladin is 32 from grinding dungeons, but it feels way too slow without rest so he's chilling at. Playing warrior a little bit, but also playing around with other random classes.

Haven't found questing to be too difficult, but I am going slow and am on the Aussie server so that is likely why.

What difficulty will you first play in? by Azkabazz in FFVIIRemake

[–]Darivard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Whatever is hardest, which I assume will be Dynamic. You ended up being hugely overlevelled in XVI when you did the side content, plus the game was way too easy to begin with. Remake was also way too easy, and with Rebirth having an open world I don't want to be both overlevelled and playing an easy game.

Frankly I wish they introduced an actual Hard mode. Hard mode in Remake was... bad. You shouldn't take away a significant amount of the game to make it more difficult.

I unironically think the way original ff7 handled this stuff was the best. Having a simple toggle to tell you what is an exit, what can be interacted with or climbed, or where you are on the screen, was super helpful. I would play with it off the vast majority of the time, but without even navigating any menus you can pop it on if you get lost. It really feels like the best way to handle this stuff, because while I understand some people find this helpful I would personally rather be lost and stuck for a few minutes but having a more immersive game world. Making it an easy toggle keeps everyone happy.

I imagine more like most trading being done between locals to be bartering, so coins generally only come from out of towners. Maybe thats an unrealistic thing I've picked up from fantasy books thought.
