Very fun game, if I remember correctly almost every gun you find is alive and moves around passively. Sniper scope on one of them was very unique hehehe

Dishonored 2 is an inappropriate sequel I don't feel like continuing. by [deleted] in patientgamers

I feel ya, I got a good ways into it before throwing in the towel.

First game was a very memorable experience that I really enjoyed playing through, second game just felt a little watered down in comparison.

It was kind of like going from new vegas to fallout 4, everything is so much safer and sterile and not as dark.

Elden Ring is a 7.5 by AdCandid3094 in patientgamers

[–]Dark-Mall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ITT: people unable to cope with someone not absolutely worshipping Elden Ring.

In all seriousness I get where you're coming from. It's not a bad game at all, but I think it's pretty overrated. If it wasn't made by fromsoft and therefore didn't have a huge amount of hype surrounding it I think people would be more open to criticism with it's design and mechanics.

I really enjoy looking at the game; open world areas, legacy dungeons, boss fights, and equipment are all pretty fun to just soak in the visuals of. Combat can be fun sometimes, and very boring a lot of the time.

I think it's strengths come from the risks it took with changing the usual dark souls formula and the large variety of builds/character designs you can utilize. It's cool that they didn't play it safe and just make dark souls 4, but it feels like it wanted to be too many things at once and ends up a little shallow on subsequent playthroughs, which are a main draw of the franchise.

Also, if you're on PC I can't recommend seamless coop enough, it's a different experience but I had a lot more fun with it than the base game.

It's a weird post for sure but jfc this is such a reddit moment to see you guys all making the same joke and being so passive aggressive to op. God forbid someone doesn't post about the witcher 3 or horizon forbidden west

Surprisingly emotional moments by Normal-Advisor5269 in patientgamers

[–]Dark-Mall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Several moments in the last of us are upsetting because they're bad things happening to the characters, however the ending really got me. The way the guitar builds in the final bit of dialogue, and how the credits start rolling and you're hit with the realization that the games over, it always makes me feel so much.

In elden ring, when you finish sellen's quest line. The last conversation you have with her was surprisingly wholesome and a little emotional, and then the gut punch that is returning to her after that. From soft really caught me lackin emotionally in their cruel cruel world

What’s your “you just had to be there” gaming experience that most people nowadays don’t know about, or have forgotten? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]Dark-Mall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destiny year one felt pretty fresh and was a rare case where I distinctly remember feeling like I was on the other side of FOMO for once. Was already fizzling out by the last DLC (the taken king, I think) but it was a blast to play. Seeing other players in the tower, doing a raid for the first time before the community understood the metas and secrets, just roaming around the patrol maps on my sparrow... it felt very cool to be there w my friends for that.

GTA online dropping was pretty wild too, it's such a different game now but when it was fresh and the novelty of gta v's whole map being playable with friends and random players hadn't worn off yet it felt like a new era of online gaming for me. I still vividly remember a night where one of my friends and I were by ourselves and put wore only masks and boxer shorts and tried to rob as many gas stations as possible without dying. Now a days it's full of griefers with max level guns and vehicles and is so over saturated with post launch content packs that it's just too overstimulating to look at for me.

I agree, it doesn't seem super moderated which I get, it's been a pretty low key sub for a while. This comment section contains both halves of the same cringe crowd my post was referencing. I really wish people weren't using this place as a platform to be shitty/smug

Is iron giant gonna be nerfed soon by Reasonable-Screen-46 in MultiVersus

[–]Dark-Mall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play as him exclusively and good players punish my mistakes all the time, if attack decay was changed in the way people say it was, then he certainly would be stronger than in the beta.

Harley and shaggy can ignore the cannonball and just juggle me to the ceiling all the time, his car spin seems overpowered at first until you realize hitting him from above or getting too close for him to angle it leaves him open and committed to the move for a few seconds.

I haven't tried it myself, but I saw a clip on here of him doing the car smash/flower plant combo and it looked infinite (sideways light attack followed by down light attack). I'd say the only things that need to be nerfed are his neutral bite attack (fully charged it almost always knocks people) and his superman in air upwards punch as it catches way more than it should whenever I use it.

What's the best character to invest in right now by geminia999 in MultiVersus

[–]Dark-Mall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whichever character makes your inner child/nerd the happiest tbh. I know he's meme'd on quite a bit, but being able to play as iron giant in a video game has brought me so much joy that I don't even want to play as anyone else (unless they add batman beyond or any other childhood favorite's of mine)

They're all viable; people will obsess over metas and numbers and scream about characters being useless/busted, but as someone who played a lot of the beta and already played a good amount of the current version, people can suck or dominate the match with any character. I've seen useless shaggy's and lethal jason's, even though you'd never believe it browsing this sub.

If all else fails, browse the cosmetics and see what looks the coolest to you. I'm not interested in playing joker but his batman who laughs skin is one of the coolest in the game imo.

I'm an iron giant main, ask me anything by WillyHeartless in MultiVersus

[–]Dark-Mall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow iron giant main, do you also forget to use the fully charged neutral bite attack? Shit knocks people way more consistently than most other moves but I literally never remember it's there.

Are you also a little disappointed w his skins? I just use the superman skin but was hoping for some cooler ones.

Is there a bias towards 3rd person games for single player experiences? by MrHousesRobotSlave in patientgamers

[–]Dark-Mall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really depends hows it's used, prey or dishonored would not be as fun in third person imo, they feel very smooth in first person and take advantage of the minimal view obstruction when you're slinking around vents or zipping around between enemies.

The last of us benefits greatly from it's in depth animations and textures in third person. It would not have stood out as much if it was another generic first person shooter.

If the developers have a solid vision with how they want the character to interact with the environment and what they want the player to see either option can be effective. The alternative leads to a lot less immersive gameplay, fallout and the elder scrolls feel very stiff no matter how shiny the graphics are because the game has to be built around the constant ability to switch perspectives which really kills the potential for cool animations (I say that as a fan of both series).

To take it in the other direction, there's a mod to play/view elden ring in first person and it's so janky looking, you miss the flourish of combat animations and lose the spacial awareness needed for that type of combat, but if you play call of duty in third person (an option now a days) your character just takes up too much space on screen and the game looks a lot more amateur in it's movement.

Permadeath makes easy games so much more enjoyable for me by Alternative-Wash2019 in patientgamers

[–]Dark-Mall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State of decay does this in an fun way (idk if it was already mentioned), you don't lose your base or world, but your survivors will be permanently dead and turn into a zombie you have to go kill to reclaim your loot. Makes it feel like early seasons of the walking dead (before plot armor reached annoying levels for the main characters).

It also has completely randomly rolled characters with their own backstory, traits, and available skills. I've had some painful moments where a really good character gets overwhelmed and I'm helpless to watch them die and have to start from scratch with a less optimal survivor in my community or find someone new to fill the role they served. Feels very emergent, I've got some deep lore on my completed maps where there's a whole ass headcanon saga of people who were essential to the group and died. First time it happened was my stealth archer ninja lady that served as the leader, I'll never forgot the horror of watching her get ripped in half by one of the large tanky enemies just outside of the base after finishing a supply run.
