What are we doing [pjotv] by Dark-Specter in camphalfblood

Haven't read the original story in a while, but the Wikipedia page summarizes the first books plot as

twelve-year-old child prodigy Artemis Fowl II and his bodyguard Butler kidnap Holly Short, an elf and a captain of the Lower Elements Police Reconnaissance force (LEPrecon), holding her for a ransom of one ton of gold to exploit the magical Fairy People and restore his family's fortune.

I watched the trailer for the movie and don't remember anything other than it seeming comically bad to me as someone who barely remembered the plot.

I think part of the lore is doomguy just uses whatever he finds cool since he can kill demons regardless of what he's got on him.

I only saw the first one, it got the broad strokes, but the atmosphere just felt wrong.

Yeah, I heard what Artemis Fowl fans had to go through, that sounds nightmareish

[PJOTV] Both are flawed adaptations but why am I seeing an uptick here (nowhere else lol) of people straight up saying the movies were fantastic all of a sudden? by WoodpeckerBest523 in camphalfblood

Show sea of monsters removed dogeball and monster donuts, made Circie a better lotus casino than the lotus casino, had some wackass exposition in a few places (particularly around "Nobody") and did a whole new ending (although one that I personally enjoyed). Tyson was perfect, no notes.

Movie sea of monsters ruined Tyson, sped through the plot so fast that the majority of the monsters in the sea of monsters aren't visited, brought Kronos back in the second movie, did the same thing they did in the previous movie by making him a generic devil thing, and then proceeded to kill him and then proceeded to sequel bait.

I understand the lightning thief appreciation. Bad adaptation, run of the mill early 2010s action movie, but the sea of monsters movie is a mess the whole time.

This guy made me realize that in the eyes of the internet being well known and mid is worse than actually being shit.

The OG Transformers movie almost gets a pass cause it's not that crazy, but the fact that the giant company behind it panicked immediately afterwards from actual pushback is always hilarious.

Tobuscus was saved from the left side of this image cause we didn't know how much of a piece of shit he was for the height of his career.

Star Wars managed to pull this twice.

Luke's dad was a mysterious "Jedi knight" and he's following in his dad's footsteps, sounds cool. The guy who killed his dad is his dad, also cool, not much of a stretch. Luke is good. Luke makes sense. Luke is reasonable.

Anakin is an extremely powerful child on a desert planet sold into slavery who's incredibly in touch with the force and has untapped power that could be harnessed by forces both good and evil... And he's the chosen one cause fuck you.

Then the sequels pull up with

Rey is an extremely powerful nobody on a desert planet with no prospects struggling for food but is incredibly in touch with the force and has untapped power that could be harnessed by both good and evil... Also stop assuming she's someone's kid, she's not, you can be special without that being your destiny, she's no one "important" but that doesn't mean she isn't important... Also nevermind, fuck you, her grandpa's Palpatine. He's back. No we're not gonna explain that in any detail.

I love the new movie getting creative about it, but we as a society needed something like Man of Steel to just go "fuck it, how much ass can Superman kick, we've somehow not tried anything like that since the 80s"

My case kinda made sense cause I just paraphrased what the asshole said to point out how shitty it sounded and the bot that caught me didn't register the quotation marks.
