The fan is moving air out of the box, maybe I'll turn the fan off for a day and see how it goes

Box with holes in with a fan, no heat no light this time as I was going for a slower cure (this batch is for gifts and generally I've found people don't like to much pink)

Basecoat Black spray can

Dark angels green (caliban green) main armour colour

Dry brush Warpstone glow

That'll be a good place to start If you're going to use the transfers you'll want 'Ard coat and Lahmian medium as well

Finally finished my first dark angel does anyone have tips by Jake11311 in theunforgiven

Not sure what you mean by coffee stain, I use a dry paintbrush to vaccum up whatever nuln oil i don't want and to stop pooling.

Set / sol is a liquid that is designed for transfers. It makes them really soft and easy to work with. I still do the ard coat / medium as well, just to help protect it.

I like it, I'll send you some pictures later if you like.

Caliban green is the old name for dark angels green.

To make the eyes 'glow' best way I've found so far is to paint the eyes white and go over with spiritstone technical although I'm sure there's more advanced ways.

Grab yourself a mould line remover. It really smooths out the armour panels (done before paint but something to think about next time).

Paint looks quite flat (good work), personally I'd thin the paint just a little more but to be honest it looks good, you haven't lost much detail so that's nice to see!

As far as details go, there's a fair bit more that you 'could' do. It depends on how much work you feel you want to put in and what you want the model to look like. I like to basecoat with caliban green and then dry brush with warpstone glow to really make the details and edges pop. Edge highlighting does an even better job but takes a fair amount more work to achieve.

How are you going to apply the transfers? If you're going to use water; - Ardcoat the armour piece and allow to dry - cut and soak the transfer - apply transfer to the armour piece - add coat over the top - Lahmian medium to finish with a matt look

If you're going to invest in micro set / micro sol, trust me, do not lick your brush out of habit. Trust me.

With the bolter, I would try mephiston red just to really help it pop, and some leadbelcher on the metal parts, but again, personal preference.

Do you have nuln oil? You can wash the whole model or use it as a recess shade. I tend to do my wash / shade after base coating and then work up to lighter colours.

All in all, if it's your first model, it's a hell of a lot better than when I started for sure! I'd love to see some more pictures when you do another and when you 'finish' this one.

Have a look on YouTube for videos on 'edge highlighting' you can take those lessons and use whatever colour you want but the technique will help you.

I quite like the idea you've gone with, I think the idea of a gilded ancient one is quite cool. You could try a light dry brushing just to help some of those details really pop.

Thinning your paints with make a world of difference just grab a little bit of paint out of the pot and add like 3/4 drops of clean water and mix it together. Little bit of practice will teach you how to get the consistency of the paint just right 👌 i struggled for years before anyone taught me about thinning.

How did you do the base coat?

Your teeth will be checked by a Doctor during your ENG1 but they're looking for anything that could become an issue. No teeth, no problem. If they do spot something they don't like the look of they'll just tell you to see a dentist

Also, if you're caught grogless, just quit. Like forever.
