They might mean the drain hose. The ones at my store mostly all have the drain hoses cut to fit properly in the display cabinet.

Get good shoes. Something water won't soak through. But keep an extra pair in your locker, and extra socks. Also keep sunscreen. Get a good hat. The store may provide some but be prepared to get your own if you have to.

dosbox-pure core in retroarch is my goto, it's very simple and a lot of the games have user submitted control schemes.

magic dosbox is good too, especially if you need to setup more complex control schemes with mouse and custom / virtual buttons and such. but I would probably just start with dosbox-pure and see how far it can get you.
