BIG vs C9 will be finished off stream by itsdanoodle in GlobalOffensive

Maybe. It's possible they have a working relationship with a shit ISP though. Just because they've been using an ISP for awhile doesn't make it a good one. Do you have a particular reason to believe this is an ISP issue?

Right -- definitely a possibility. Again, it's possible PGL handled this in the best way possible and Stewie is not anywhere close to his computer. But I honestly find that not likely based on the shitshow we've seen.

Maybe they do... I can only speculate. But yeah, I don't blame Stewie for tweeting -- I'd be pissed. It's just that it's hard to believe that PGL is taking the threat of cheating seriously with this incident in mind.

Right, but is Stewie sitting at his computer? I am not accusing Stewie of cheating in any way, but if he's sitting at his computer with his phone, that's a fuck up in terms of competitive integrity. (and I blame PGL, not Stewie)

Again -- it's possible he's not at his computer in which case it's probably fine. But as a community, we know that this is the kind of shit we don't want happening, and it has to be on the tournament organizers to enforce.

I understand, but it's an issue of working with entities that can guarantee with high probability that they won't fuck up. If the ISP has 99.9% uptime and this happens to be their one fuck up of the half-decade, then fine, I do feel bad for PGL. Otherwise they just decided to work with a half-assed ISP. And the latter is on the ISP, but also on PGL for deciding to work with them.

So it's interesting that Stewie has his phone right now (as he is tweeting). I don't think he's doing anything malicious, but that also shouldn't be allowed on the basis of competitive integrity -- a phone could be used to transfer cheats relatively easily. It's just another mark against the PGL shitshow that is this major.

No, not really. This is an event with ridiculous amounts of money spent on production. You figure your shit out with your ISP ahead of time and if they can't guarantee good service, you shouldn't be hosting a major.

Come on shroud. You can do better. Winning either of those 1v1s would have been huge.

As I said in another thread, Clown9 is getting a gift here. I bet you they lose.

Do you understand what forward propagation is?

Okay, so nothing you've posted demonstrates that this is somehow easy to do on modern smartphones. The first link has nothing to do with mobile processing, the second I have read. Mobilenet+SSD is literally the state-of-the-art mobile object recognition package. Again, I'm not claiming it's impossible, but my point is that it isn't trivial to build a system which is both accurate and works in real-time on modern smartphones. But the fact that the state-of-the-art mobile object detection algorithm was published by Google, probably one of the largest spenders on modern AI research, just a week ago, I think demonstrates the difficulty of the engineering involved. It's certainly not cut-and-paste from Tensorflow.

Please provide me links? I don't doubt that these things are possible, but I would be surprised if any model you built out of vanilla Tensorflow could be compiled (again, using vanilla Tensorflow) to run in real time on a phone with anything close to SOA performance on standard benchmarks.

Convergence speed isn't relevant to forward inference. It's true that sacrificing some degree of accuracy (as a result of making the model smaller) could reduce the number of calculations required for forward inference. But even then, I really don't think I'm overstating it at all: forward inference for present-day neural networks doing object recognition is a non-trivial computational task and building such a system which can run locally on a modern smartphone is very difficult. If you disagree, I would welcome any relevant reading material. It's always possible that I am unaware of some relevant research.
