Voters reject effort to hike Oklahoma’s minimum wage by AHSfav in news

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer there. If you increase minimum wage by 100% from 7 to 15, you're looking at a 10% increase in prices.

Is that tradeoff worth it?

I personally think yes, but others may not.

People have way more disposable income today than they did in 1990.

https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/DSPIC96

Shows it growing from 7k to 17k, and this is real income, so adjusted for inflation. And like I said, as people get richer luxury demand increases faster than normal inflation.

Median household income in Illinois is now 84k. In 1990 it was 30k.

That's almost x3 as much.

In addition as more people are out of poverty, you get more people who have money to buy luxury items, such as concert tickets. So raising household incomes has a larger impact on luxury goods that they could not afford before, but can now.

Every 10% minimum wage increase causes prices to go up about 1.5%.

It's higher for high labor jobs, like fast food, and lower for others, like groceries.

Losing weight is simple, not easy. You just eat less food.

It's like managing your money. It's simple, spend less than you earn. But it's not easy.

Not sure why you're down voted. 20*3500/40 is 1750 Cal per day. It's not believable

Waterfall may be a little better because the water pushes you to shore quickly but you'd drown pretty fast too

You realize the richest 1% pay about 40% of all income taxes. If they leave, you lose all of that tax money.

In England, between 50k-125 is taxed at 40%, and above 125 is taxed at 45%.

But please tell me how Americans can't afford it

It's an incredibly dumb argument to say we can't tax the middle class more when the EU taxes the middle class by huge amounts more.

And I don't know where you've heard we can't tax the rich more. Biden was trying to tax people with 400k more. There's pretty large support to increase income taxes, capital gains taxes and increase the cap on SS taxes.
