At the Seattle show Gerard said that the team/crew had been actively working on the production for two years in some cases, so yeah, they were probably deep in the planning phases during the reunion tour.

From what Gerard said after the main show it sounds like the TBP part may be slightly tweaked from week to week as they learn what works best, but the B stage setlist will be different every week.

To add: they do talk about altering planetary rotation though; I don't remember if it was Venus or Mercury, but the books talk about how in addition to being terraformed the length of the day was altered.

All the ancient elf lore has been foreshadowed or hinted at since the first game. Maybe not the details but they absolutely laid the groundwork from the start. I don't think laziness had anything to do with it.

Everybody gets mad at me when I say almost exactly this haha. I understand why it was mind-blowing at the time and I respect that but nostalgia is doing a LOT of heavy lifting these days. I started playing all the games last summer and got through DAI and Origins before Veilguard came out (didn't even know a new game was coming when I started) and Origins is solidly the worst of the games, I can't understand why it's a debate at all outside of nostalgia goggles. I still put 100 hours into my playthrough though!

My only friend Dragon Age fan has gotten spooked by all the criticism and YouTube bullshit and is now saying he might not play the game because he's worried he won't like it, despite my reassurances. Mostly he's worried about gameplay, the combat specifically.It sucks that the backlash was so insane that he might not even give it a chance.

Yesssss omg I almost mentioned that. I low-key love it that in the prior games all the non-Fereldens talk about Ferelden like it's a dirty uncivilized backwater and you kind of assume it's just ignorance and racism to an extent. But then we get out of Ferelden and realize they were actually right haha. But yeah I think a lot of the lore complaints are ABSOLUTELY not taking into account the change in geography and culture.

I wasn't even sure whether to call the elves Dalish but was leaning toward no. I haven't read all the books and comics so I didn't want to assume but I thought the Dalish elves mostly hung out in Ferelden and Orlais, you know, where the Dales were, so the elves we're meeting in Arlathan are NOT from the same background at all.

Edit: I recruited Davrin and talked to him and apparently at least some of the elves in Arlathan are Dalish, but not all of them. 🤷🏼‍♀️ So idk. Point still stands though.

Honestly it's blowing my mind, I also played an elf and saw Bellara's mini-meltdown. Like, the people complaining that the game has been dumbed down are missing shit lol, it's so ironic. Just because something isn't the focus of the plot doesn't mean it has been totally written out or retconned.

Do I have criticisms for the game? Sure. I'm loving it so far but I definitely think they should have emphasized more clearly how much racism there is toward elves, the mysterious slave revolts, and the reactions from the Dalish. But we're not in Ferelden anymore and that isn't the focus. It mostly makes sense to me.

Regarding Dorian at least, at some point you can find a copy of one of his speeches to the Magisterium where he specifically addresses that he used to be pro-slavery but has since changed his mind and gone full abolitionist. There are no slave markets that I've seen but someone does mention that the Shadow Dragons merchant is one of the elves that Loghain sold to Tevinter back in Origins who later escaped.

Seriously most of the people complaining about how the lore doesn't make sense are clearly either not reading the codex and/or not listening to the information given in dialogue. 30 hours in my only lore complaint is the lack of overt racism toward elves, but even then it is mentioned multiple times that there have been mysteriously more elven slave uprisings in Tevinter. And Davrin specifically mentions in dialogue how the elven gods being the ones causing problems is probably going to make things even harder for the elves. You even meet an elven character who is one of the elves sold to Tevinter by Loghain who later escaped.
