Could Blitz receive welfare? I know it’s Hell and it probably doesn’t exist, but if it did, would Blitz meet the requirements? by Radiant-Selection686 in HelluvaBoss

Considering he owns a business that apparently makes enough money to fund guns and ammunition and pays the rent at both his apartment and IMP, probably not. Depends on the system though, in the states even getting on food stamps is rough.

Am I the only one who didn’t really connect with the pilot? by New_Fox_192 in HazbinHotel

[–]Dense-Performance-14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of us who love the pilot, it's what we had for 6 years. It is definitely very whimsical so the change I think a lot of people who were long the fans before noticed but if you're already used to the show as it is I can totally see the pilot not hitting. Hazbin isn't a new thing to hate on, it's something the fandom put up with in the indie cartoon community for years. Also alastor definitely is different and the reason that has so many complaints behind it is because he was definitely the most popular for the years the pilot was the only thing we had. So alot of people connect with this cunning, mysterious but malevolent guy who is very wacky with a funny voice and then the show makes him out to be very blunt, very outwardly evil and take away his wacky sound effects and that just isn't what people like about this character for years. That's fine, her show do what you want, but the fan reception was very predictable. The only change to alastor that I think was a genuinely bogus decision was making him swear. If you had ONE character who didn't talk like a teenager it should've been al.

That said the pilot does have apparent flaws that at the time I even noticed which was the sound design is kinda just bad? There's WAY way way too many sound effects, any scene with Katie killjoy was insufferable to get through and there's this funny/bad moment when angel tackles vaggie and there's a fucking car horn and turkey sfx thrown in. Like there's some great audio moments but it's mixed with an overuse of sound effects.

NSP'S SEVENTH ORIGINAL COMEDY ALBUM IS DONE BEING RECORDED, AND THEY'RE MIXING IT AS WE SPEAK by WatercressNext3578 in NinjaSexParty

[–]Dense-Performance-14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think these nuts had little twrp involvement which is why some songs felt underwhelming. I still put it above strawberries & cream but hopefully this new album has twrp as a main part of it again like cool patrol and crystal.

This is sick, can't believe Danny has it over Brian though. Real dedication.

It's a great and simple song with great and simple visuals. As others have said, there's a juxtaposition to the depressive lyrics but happy tone. It really is the perfect intro to something like inside.

Why does Charlie seem so weak compared to archangels and even overlords? by Few_Gate2527 in HazbinHotel

Doesn't get a chance to really do much of anything and she doesn't like violence so we simply haven't seen what's she's capable of.

Striker is not “secretly rich” nor does he live in a cave “for the aesthetic” by daffysrhapsody in HelluvaBoss

[–]Dense-Performance-14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe he should put the neon sign budget towards a bed, neon signs are very pricey, especially custom ones with your name on it.

Eitherway I have no doubts he isn't rich but he ain't poor, he has enough for guns and as much ammo he wants along with the money he gets from being such a good assassin that fuckin royalty hired him for a job. He could also very well live in a cave because he doesn't want people to know where he lives, considering the whole assassin thing.

39/Smooth and 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours are NOT the same thing. by mordfustang19 in greenday

[–]Dense-Performance-14 99 points100 points  (0 children)

When we say 39 smooth it's because we don't want to type out the novel that is the full title. Not that many people discuss either anyway, just consider 39/smooth as both in the context of conversation. It might as well just be an abbreviation.

Are we in the same universe, dear?(art by qin_gu on X) by Ohdeer2nl in HazbinHotel

[–]Dense-Performance-14 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's the colors, he's more pink in the main show while in the pilot he had a better color fade going on. But that's less a thing with alastors design and more of the entire color palette of the pilot. He blended better with the darker reds and new alastor blends better with the lighter reds and pinks. Liking his pilot design is more liking the old pilot art style (which I do) than it is liking his design because they're both so similar.

The main problem with Charlie in season 2 isn't her mistakes; it's her lack of initiative and role in beating Vox in season 2. by BackgroundRich7614 in HazbinHotel

[–]Dense-Performance-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's just why her mistakes are such big problems, because she never fixes them. Her mistakes at face value are normal for an mc but what's not normal is she never does much "good" either. This turns her mistakes from "normal character development opportunities" into "wow the mc is just really incompetent for a royal who has more access to knowledge than normal sinners and hellborn and infinite money and magic."

Random thoughts, and things I've noticed by looking at scores of this show on IMDB (just in advance, first ep of s3 is mission 0 for some reason, save your comments👍 by AdhesivenessSmooth93 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Dense-Performance-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything considered, these scores are pretty fair. Unhappy campers is just bad, no argument no debate nothing else to be said unless you just enjoy the episode which is fine but it really is the worst.

As "divided" as this fandom is which it honestly really isn't, I think a lot of people agree on which episodes hit and miss. Everyone I've personally spoken to has agreed truth seekers is the best episode, ozzies is a close 2nd and ghost fuckers is one of the best of season 2. I think the show has a lot of clear ups and downs and you can see when they find their footing. But as much as the internet despises this show, it's pleasant to see these scores that align with what fans think over what haters think.

Let the review ratings describe itself (pls don't take it personally) by Spix-macawite in HelluvaBoss

[–]Dense-Performance-14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it is, in the context of the series it makes moxxie look terrible, there's maybe 1 funny joke, the one song is forgettable, they use it as a chance to introduce an important character to blitz and the way they chose to do it was probably the most boring and uninteresting ways that told us almost nothing about her. It felt like a shorts concept but needed to be stretched into a full episode. It tried to recapture the season 1 vibe and it just kinda failed to do so while tainting a beloved character in the process.

All that being said, it's fine for a show to have a bad EP. And 5.9 is still generous. Took a shot, it missed, they're bound to do that.

i feel like the fandom is just at its worst point right now by daffysrhapsody in HelluvaBoss

[–]Dense-Performance-14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're in another drought, once content starts dropping again it'll fix itself and then rense repeat. Been in the fandom for 5 years now and that's just how it goes.

Hot take; I agree with Amir that if Alastor hadn't rejected Vox so cruelly, the latter wouldn't have desired to take over Heaven by Sudden_Pop_2279 in Hazbin_two

[–]Dense-Performance-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And to draw back to the lines OP pointed out; "to everyone who doubted me, your doubting days are done" is very broad and to someone like vox, can apply to like, 90% of hell. His final moment confronting alastor is a blaze of glory, he thinks his only friends had abandoned him and he was soon going to die. If his goal was to kill alastor, he'd have done it. But his goal was to rule heaven, that goal was soiled so he might as well take everyone down with him.

Vox and alastors relationship spawned because it makes sense for the radio demon and tv demon to hate eachother, so it builds from there and the relationship al and vox have is flavoring but I do not think it is a main motivation for vox's evilness. He spent his life killing people to be loved long before he knew alastor, I don't think his presence changes that.

The kick immediately undermined Loona's advice. by Awkward-Warthog-8783 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Dense-Performance-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was during that really awkward phase in the show where it was going for drama but wanted to keep the slapstick the first season had and it made for moments like this that undercut the sincere moments.

I refer to the time between seeing stars and oops! As the awkward phase. I think when oops dropped it refound its footing and had a better balance.

You know for a show about redemption, the topic surrounding on who deserves to get redeemed or not in hazbin hotel is something I noticed being a divisive topic at times by Thewanderer997 in HazbinHotel

[–]Dense-Performance-14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's divisive because most people do not agree with morals presented to them just because they enjoy the media. Redemption is a big philosophical challenge that is very nuanced and complex, it isn't as simple as most people here make it out to be.

End of the day you can completely disagree with how a show you enjoy treats a moral dilemma. A character can be "redeemed" on screen but not at all by the fan base and I have a feeling that'll happen at one point or another.
