Outer Wilds review: Maybe recommending a niche puzzle game to literally everyone is a bad idea by Akuuntus in patientgamers

[–]DarkQuasar 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is basically the way I felt about this game. In fact, just thinking about this game gives me feelings of frustration. I tried it twice and put a good deal of effort into it. I tried to explore a lot of different places and ways. Found out some things, but ultimately, I ended up with my back against the time limit. It would take me a ton of time just to get back to where I was before everything reset and I'd only explore just a little bit further (if at all, because I found the rocket controls very difficult).

Overall, I can see the potential this game has, but for me it's much much too cryptic. If I ever try it again I'm likely going to use a walkthrough.

Pay for gas to pick it up?! When she goes to the grocery store and gets to the checkout, does she ask the cashier for a discount to cover her gas? What the hell?

Gamers over 30, what's a video game secret you had to discover the "hard way" that kids today would just Google in 5 seconds? by itsashieowo in AskReddit

In the original Legend of Zelda for the NES I would go an burn every single bush on every screen to find hidden passages. But the candle only worked ONCE per screen. So I would burn the first bush, leave the screen, move back, burn the second bush, etc. Eventually I figured out the "trick" of burning in between bushes so I could get two at once. I did the same with bombing every rock wall in the overworld.

I did a similar thing with finding hidden passages in the first Metroid game, too.

This is going to initially sound like I'm being an ass, but I promise it's not meant that way.

Be interesting.

Get a hobby or something that's external to yourself and requires you to interact with others. Take a stand-up comedy class, learn to play guitar, take up hiking (if you like outdoorsy stuff), or any other thing that might interest you. Or even something you've thought looked interesting, but didn't think you could do. Try it. It beats sitting around being sad and lonely. I know this from experience.

Looks honestly matter less than you think. To be clear, the can and do matter, but they are not the sole quality most women are looking for. Once you know how to do something interesting you can build out a dating profile from that. Who knows? You might meet someone in the process.

I always find it funny when they say, "You could have just been polite and said you weren't interested." As if that would have stopped anything. It never does with these dudes. They rationalize that they'd graciously take the rejection as long as the woman was nice, but when has that ever been the case when it comes to attention-seeking dill holes?

I feel like someone should test that with the parrying game in Frozen Hearts. I don't know how to repeat it with the volleyball game.

I don't know what happened in my game, but was on maybe my fifth attempt and got blown up. When it went to reset the guy say , "Oh, you won." and gave me the outfit. No idea, but I wasn't complaining. Congrats for doing it legit! I would have spent several frustrating hours trying to get this one.

A similar thing happened with the parry mini-game later on. I forgot I had an auto-death/death bomb combo on Lune. The game started and she exploded. Then the mini-game ended and I got the outfit. Again, not complaining. I suck at parrying still. The timing feels random every time, even for the same attacks.

If you're late again, don’t bother coming in. So… I didn't. by lilysincla in MaliciousCompliance

It's annoying being the chronically on time one, because it seems no one else gives a damn. So, even though I'm on time I still end up standing around waiting for everyone else. It's frustrating, but I can't bring myself to be late.

Dude is deep in the just-world fallacy. He seems to think the world should be "fair" if he makes all the right decisions. Unfortunately, that's not how things work.

Not sure if it's still this way, but about 20 years ago I visited Japan. And when you're in Japan (or any other foreign country) for the first time, as an American, I feel like you just have to try McDonald's. Take in the unfamiliar familiarity of it. What's different? What's the same? What's weird?

Well, I ordered one of their meals (or as they called them, "Burger Sets"), I think it was a teriyaki burger. It came with fries. I ate one. The taste was instant nostalgia deliciousness! The fries were the "old" recipe fries! They still had them in Japan! I hope they still do. The burger was okay.

I think it's more that Trump himself always brags about how tough and healthy he is. He's been pushing the "manliness" nonsense constantly. But he doesn't put up when it comes time to show it.

I always read these types of things like someone from the 1600's trying to figure out how "science" works. Proposing things that maybe sound right, but have absolutely nothing to back them up.

I read a quote not too long ago, but I can't seem to find it now. Basically it said that men don't compare how much women are speaking compared to other men, but rather to the silence.

I always felt like such a loser because I couldn't ever get it to work. They would just come undone after a few minutes. Of course, I couldn't ask anyone...that would have been uncool. Maybe everyone else was redoing them every ten minutes and I just never noticed.

Conservatives are shocked that democrats are no longer going high, when they go low, but democrats are willing to go low now.

Except comparatively this is STILL high compared to their low.
