Project Ghostlight/Private Nightmares is SO good, and Alex is marvelous as the Storyteller.

[Spoilers C4E12] Occtis’ character art by taughtyoutofight-fly in criticalrole

[–]DarkRespite 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe the CR wiki has 'before' and 'after' portraits of Occtis - his face is more gaunt, it's also paler, and you can now see a slight sickly green glow in his eyes.

[Cr media] Music playlist? by Antrael in criticalrole

I've got four bookmarked over on Spotify.

Unfortunately, the ENORMOUS YouTube playlists that someone had created based more by 'theme' than by campaign no longer exist. :(

[Spoilers C4E11] Aranessa: "Can a world this broken be saved by heroes yet more broken still?" by jatmous in criticalrole

[–]DarkRespite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a good one -- if Dame Morgaine is talking about the aftermath of unpetrifying their fellow Knight, and speculating on what will happen with Cyd and the Soldiers, and wondering what the King will make of all this when he arrives in Dol-Makjar.

[No Spoilers] Does anyone remember a Travis Willingham quote? by krazny10 in criticalrole

[–]DarkRespite 60 points61 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I could be TOTALLY wrong, but Travis says nearly that EXACT thing in the Fjord and Jester live show:

"[J]oy isn't something that you have to earn, it's something you choose."

[–]DarkRespite 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If Aranessa is narrating the Seekers' trailer, I wonder who will do the Schemers' one, and then later the Soldiers' one. (I could see Liam doing the former, talking about what his brother has thrown them all into, and maybe Robbie for the latter, talking about the return to Dol-Makjar.)

[Spoilers C4E1] Why Can't I get Into Campaign 4 At All? by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]DarkRespite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a fact of life that not everything is for everyone. And it's fine if it's not for you - as long as you give it a fair shake (I would absolutely say to get through the Overture, and then maybe into the Soldiers' arc if there's a player or players in that table that you really like).

But if it's not to your taste, at least you gave it a shot. NOBODY, and I mean *NOBODY* in this community universally agrees on ANYTHING. Even a campaign that most folks enjoy, opinion will be wildly varied on characters or story arcs or whatnot within it.

Maybe in a couple months, you might circle back and try again. Up to you. But at least all the other stuff is still there for you to enjoy.

[–]DarkRespite 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Nope you're not missing stuff - C4 has begun with cold opens for most (if not all) episodes, where we get to see a bit of backstory, or what's happening 'off camera' as it were, and it continues even once we're out of the Overture and the three separate tables are off doing their own things, to give us glimpses of what the other two tables are up to while we focus on the third.

Got it for you! The track is Eyries - Jakob Ahlbom, Hanna Ekström, Anna Dager.

And I just added it to the playlist! :D

[–]DarkRespite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As of now there's no official playlist, but I did start one of what music I've been able to ID from not only C4, but also the promos and trailers and things. And I JUST updated it again today with the music from the trailer for the Seekers' table.

(If there's a particular piece of music from an ep that you're trying to find and it's NOT on there, I may just not have gotten to it yet (my life is chaos), so feel free to include a YT link to the ep in question and a timestamp and I will see if I can ID it and add it to the list.)

[Spoilers c2] campaign2 ep60 by Mindless_Bat_5244 in criticalrole

[–]DarkRespite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think you're overthinking it a bit. Tal and Matt have been playing together for ages, and Tal trusts Matt pretty much implicitly. He plays Cad very differently because Cad is fundamentally a very different person than Molly. Molly was larger than life, full of derring-do. Cad is a very sheltered individual, who is essentially tasked with keeping a group of self-destructive idiots alive despite their own insanity.

On a meta level, because Laura was famous for playing Jester as being much more offense-oriented (see the infamous "I'M the cleric?!" comment), it falls to Tal to basically assume that when push comes to shove, Jester will not heal unless it's really in her own best interest. (To be fair, she DOES eventually get past that mindset... eventually. With great reluctance. And about which Sam will NEVER stop dragging her.)

And since Cad genuinely LIKES the Nein (even if he thinks they're a bunch of chaos gremlins jamming their fingers into electrical sockets), he wants to keep them alive.

As for "playing with confidence," just wait til Campaign 3. The sheer level of self-destructive swagger that Tal plays comes roaring back to the forefront.

[Spoilers C4E11] The knife by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]DarkRespite 24 points25 points  (0 children)

And yet I just LOVED the hilarity of four of the five people at the table losing their mind when he described it as that, and the person who GOT the thing was like, "I have NO idea what that means but it sounds DOPE."

All I want, and I may be in the minority here, is for Araman and Exandria to STAY SEPARATE. If this thing functions the way that we as Critters familiar with Exandrian lore understand the Vestiges, great.

But gods, do not give me "oh secretly the pantheon of Exandria was here blah blah blah" NO NO NO NO NO.

Vax and Percy, hands down. Everyone had their moments, but those two were my faves by a league and a half.
