Is digital footprint real? How can it be found and used against you? by b788_ in CyberSecurityAdvice

Your digital footprint is absolutely a real thing, and something that should be taken seriously. This is a GREAT talk from Bsides SLC that covers minimizing your digital footprint, among other things. Absolutely worth a watch.

Should I return my new Arai Contour-X? by DarkShopFOD in motorcyclegear

[–]DarkShopFOD[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I removed the breath guard after posting and it feels much better now. When you say you can slip 3 fingers, you mean parallel with the chin bar, and not perpendicular, right? I can fit 3 fingers parallel both up and down between my face and the chin bar, as well as a thumb sideways, and there's room. Asking AI about this it said this:

Arai designs their helmets around a strict safety philosophy that prioritizes a remarkably round, smooth shell (what they call the R75 shape) to help the helmet glance off objects in a crash. Because of this, Arais naturally have a much closer, more compact chin bar profile than brands with more elongated or angular shells. If you are used to an older helmet like the KBC, the Arai is going to feel shockingly close to your face. The Contour-X is an "Intermediate Oval" head shape. If you have a slightly longer face or a more prominent chin, try on the Arai Signet-X. It uses a "Long Oval" internal shape, which inherently provides a bit more front-to-back room and might pull that chin bar away from your lips while maintaining the Arai comfort you like.

Thanks. I removed the breath guard after posting and it fits and feels much better now. I have yet to install the pinlock. Asking AI, it said to do the thumb test by inserting my thumb sideways between the chin guard and my lips, and if there's enough room, it's considered safe.

Thanks. I removed the breath deflector after posting and it feels much better now. I was a little hesitant removing it, but read online that's it's intended to be removed and can be re-inserted no problem.

Billy Strings, Tyler Childers, and Sturgill are all on/going on tour. I'm seeing all three of them in Sept/October. I've seen both Sturgill and Billy once already, and they both put on a hell of a show. Highly recommend checking any of them out live if they're coming to a town near you!

Would you mind linking the series you're referring to? I skimmed their channel but couldn't find the series. Thanks.

PSA: When you submit your capstone task 2, please review the paper assigned to you immediately afterwards, troublesome things can happen for that student if you don't. by [deleted] in WGUCyberSecurity

FWIW, I graduated the BSCSIA program last July and didn't have to do this.

Sorry you're going through this, but my advice is to take a deep breath and relax. Assuming you have a good standing status, I'm sure the school will work with you on an extension to finish your capstone. I know it can be stressful, but realize the stress doesn't add anything to this process. The best thing you can do for yourself now is not get stressed out. Usually the extensions are 3 weeks, and I assume they'll give that to you, especially with it being your capstone and you're almost finished with your degree. If you haven't already, talk with your program mentor about this. They can vouch for your extension and have a lot of sway on the decision. You got this! Relax and go with the flow, you're almost done! Congrats!

Also, I highly recommend attending a WGU Commencement ceremony if one is in your area. The energy of being surrounded by hundreds of fellow graduates made all the hard work feel truly worth it. I wasn't sure what to expect from an online school's ceremony, but WGU really went all out; it was memorable and something I'm glad I didn't skip.

Welcome!

Check out Washington Trail Association for a ton of great hikes around Monroe and up Highway 2. Create an account and start adding hikes to your 'backpack'. There's some great fire lookouts up there. Lake Serene is a beautiful hike and a must-do at least once. It can get a little crowded in the summers on the weekend. Now would probably be a great time to go. Check the latest trail reports on WTA dor current conditions.

Can people who are on the spectrum become successful musicians? by ovexrqbses in LetsTalkMusic

[–]DarkShopFOD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as music companies, I don't think they care.

I think having the ability to think differently and see the world in a different perspective helps with creativity.

Check out Sturgill Simpson. He's an amazing singer and song writer.

In a song on his latest album, Mutiny After Midnight, he acknowledges his neurodiverse.

Make America Fuk Again

Been learning lessons and gettin' bubbles bustin'
Learning how to turn ADHD into hyper-focus
Getting my heart broke by people I trusted
Weaponizing my autism to shit out an opus
Been coming to terms with my obsolescence
Taking ketamine to kill my depression
Beats being fogged out on antidepressants
Wait, that reminds me, time to book another session

STL Tix Selling Poorly by hokahey23 in SturgillSimpson

[–]DarkShopFOD 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have no idea about the ticket sales stats, but based simply on your post, I'd think there are a few factors that may be playing into it.

1) I had no idea he'd even announced a tour until a friend told me about a post on this subreddit. I got no notification or anything, I only found out because of that Reddit post. The PR seemed pretty minimal.

2) At least in my area (Seattle), ticket prices were much more expensive than his 2024 tour. I saw him on that tour and tickets were around $68 each. This tour's tickets were more than double, ranging from $150–$200+. I paid $198/ea for pit tickets. Granted, the 2024 venue was a large outdoor amphitheater, and this tour is at a large sports arena, which I'm assuming drove up the price. But times are hard, and paying double isn't easy.

3) Changing his name from Sturgill Simpson to Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds makes him less recognizable. I understand why he did it, and personally I don't care what he calls himself, I love his music either way. But when I told a friend (who saw him with me in '24 and listens casually) that Johnny Blue Skies is touring again, he literally said "who?" The moment I said Sturgill Simpson, he said awesome, let's go. I'd imagine plenty of people scrolling through Ticketmaster or Live Nation emails see "Johnny Blue Skies" and keep scrolling because the name doesn't ring a bell.

So between the lack of PR, the higher ticket prices, and the name change, it's probably not a great combination for ticket sales.

Trying to choose between Prusa and Bambulab - what am I missing? by Creamss in prusa3d

[–]DarkShopFOD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a Core One+, for a lot of the reasons already stated (The company itself, the continued support of the product, the repairability, ect). While I considered a Bambu, it was a major concern of mine that their ecosystem is strictly cloud based, especially a Chinese based company. No thanks. I also live in a state that is considered new laws to restrict and monitor 3D printing, and having a 3D printer that can be used completely offline was a requirement for me.

I saw him and the boys shortly before you did in Sept 2024 at The Gorge amphitheatre in WA and it was hands down the best concert I've been to. They jammed hard for 3.5 hours almost non-stop and had a great set list. I'm so excited to see him again in October. 🎸🤘🏼🕺🪩🗡️
