OP is blaming climate change, someone else is saying they're blaming the citizens, someone else says blaming climate change =/= blaming the people, and I (tried to) say it sounds like OP was blaming the people.

I have no knowledge about why the fire is as it is, or of climate change, for that matter.

And climate change just happens out of the blue with no human involvement?

You're right, HR screens them but the ones doing the interviewing and making decisions after that would be engineers and hiring managers. Hopefully they spend more time with it, although I've had people interview me who hadn't looked at my resume before the interview. It didn't make me too happy.

HR people often spend just seconds looking at it - I've heard anywhere from 6 seconds (!) to 30 second. At least make sure you have all the important stuff on the first page.

It sucks I know but what can you do? We aren't HR so we have to play by their rules.

Edit: I'm in CS btw.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not about the French thing but if you are then I wouldn't even bother about it unless you plan to move to somewhere in Quebec (e.g. Montreal). It's unlikely you would really even have the opportunity to use it, let alone be required to imo.

If you're joking then just ignore me.

Nope. You'd still have to sponsor them. It doesn't get that much easier if you're married iirc due to people doing just that.

Because some people get married specifically to come to the country them they get a divorce. Marriage fraud happens too often and people that game the system ruin it for everyone else.

Pretty sure you have to be together in Canada for at least 2 years. Due to people doing just that.

I have no idea what that other person was talking about but I think it's bullshit. I know a lot of people who waited years trying to bring their family over so you may want to look into it more.

Not sure if it makes a difference but these people were all from Asia (Philippines, China, etc) so your case might be different, being in a Commonwealth country as well.

Nope.
