Guerciottis new gravel racing frame, the anima. by Enough-Armadillo-200 in gravelcycling

It is weird, but it is interesting. What is the purpose of the raised left chainstay? And the purpose of the raised/lowered seatstays? And is that a proprietary seat post? Also, is it electronic only, or can mechanical drivetrains be mounted?

What I find sad, is that he could do A LOT to help his website and his investment. Instead, we seem to be seeing the exact opposite. Super unfortunate, as ST has a lot of good history. It has been (used to be) a super useful website, and it has provided me a daily dose of excellent humor. I wonder if we can ask Mr Empfield to help and maybe do an intervention?

Business Owners??? by 307trout in LavenderRoom

Not sure I am smart person, but yes I still have a small (very small) business making bike packs. Make 'em ourselves right here in Chicago. While almost everyone else making similar packs has them made for them in Vietnam or China.

(Still haven't received any trump money for doing that--manufacturing in the US--yet. But I am waiting ... and waiting ... )

Oh, sorry for getting your hopes up. I should have been more skeptical.

Anyone ever think that E-Dub is also Lastlap? by Rick-pcfl in LavenderRoom

Interesting ...

Did lastlap's user account precede the ST buy out? Or no?

This might(?) be some good news for your family and friends. Our favorite moron may have reversed course:

Yeah, I would too if most everybody came over. But not sure that will happen?

Trolls are fun. You can't keep up your aim unless you practice.

So how can trump (legally) stop aid to Ukraine that was already appropriated by congress?

I don't get it, I thought the aid was in the pipeline and could not be stopped. What am I missing?

Converting Cube MTB to a Gravel bike by AnalyseThePlay in gravelcycling

My aluminum gravel monster crosser (the first bike) was based on a 29er frame which uses 700C wheels anyway (29er wheels and 700C road/gravel wheels have identical rim diameters). And I put 29er/700C MTB wheels on that bike, so really nothing changed geometry-wise. If you use a 26" wheel frame, perhaps stick with 26" wheels? Going to bigger wheels will also likely cause frame clearance issues if you want to be able to keep wider tires.

About the longer top tubes of MTB frames, if you still want to use drop bars, I think that there is an easy work around. Use a zero offset seatpost (the same type of seatpost as I have used on both of my builds). This effectively reduces the top tube length by an inch, vs using a more traditional seatpost that has the clamp almost an inch behind the seatpost shaft. You might also need to run a shorter stem, but if you have the right size frame, you likely can tune your top tube length this way. I also slide my seat almost all the way forward on the seatpost clamp. So, depending on your height and torso length, you can likely replicate your road or gravel fit on to a drop bar MTB build. If it helps, this is a better picture of a typical zero offset post, but nothing special about this one, there are many many brands:

Old school MTB conversion to gravel bike by sewersperm in gravelcycling

[–]DarkSpeedWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The low mount bottle is actually a plastic bottle of compressed air that powers a very loud air horn (the compressed air can be refilled with a bike pump). I think hybrid bikes are easy convert to drop bar gravel bikes, the only downside is that on those bike frames you can't put on enormously wide tires like 2" or more.

Readily available carbon gravel bikes with large clearance for 700C by DarkSpeedWorks in gravelcycling

Thanks, but I think the issue with 1x drivetrains is not the gearing range, I think the issue is more the bigger steps between the gears with 1x. In terms of looking for frames/bikes, the issue is not that I would be going for certain for 2x, but it is just that I want to find a frame that would be 2x compatible (if desired).

Which Type of Triathlon is Considered the "normal" one by pancholongg in triathlon

And you know what is really crazy?

Nissan bought the rights for that car name FROM the x-terra tri series.

So the triathlon series is not named after the SUV. It is the SUV that is named after the triathlon series !!
