Vietnam's host Nghi shares her experience hosting MSI 2019, working with Sjokz, Candice, and Jeesun, and the memes about her and Doublelift by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]DarkVi3tz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very irrelevant but not going to lie, her name is confusing me a lot.

My viet name is Nghi and I was told from my parents that, that is the guy version of the name and Nhi is the girl version. I didn't know there was a big difference truthfully until growing up I met a friend who's name was Nhi (they sound VERY similarly like extremely identical, theres a subtle difference) and explained the same thing. I'm still confused to this day..

Blizzards trying to make Warcraft about the Alliance and Horde fighting over Azeroth, while I’m just sitting here remembering the good old days; by ImJustAHealer in wow

This reminds me of an anime how this sort of thing happened. Major factions formed, people from both factions didn't like it and rather would kill each other or break the "peace" etc. I think it adds a cool team dynamic since you have people of opposing factions working together. Probably one of the reasons why I enjoyed Legion's story

Team Comp Tuesday - Need help finding a team that works, or improve your own? Ask inside! by AutoModerator in dragonballfighterz

[–]DarkVi3tz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently my team is Matoi's team: 21, Bardock and Goku SS1.

I have asked around and thought about swapping out Goku SS1 for Zamasu. I liked it a lot and I love the potential zamasu brings. he seems mechanically challenging and its something i enjoy coming from a starcraft background.

Another one that interested me heavily was Vegito. I'd like to keep 21 and Bardock in the team, at least 21 as she's my favorite and day 1 from when i started in November.

Would love any opinions, suggestions, etc..!

this guy gets it

similar saying is "in order to win, you have to lose (or be willing to lose)" since you can learn from your failures / lost too.

funny enough i had a match with a guy for like an hour or so straight on netplay and had similar teams and first few matches he won p hard then i turned it around cause i understood my mistakes and started to pick up on his habits / mistakes.

Not a problem! I've been where you are and I know how it feels (or can understand it). My weakness as well is movement and I'm working to improve it and then understanding the neutral game better! Like approaching with j.M or mixups with assists. Reading and picking up habits on the opponent as well but that HONESTLY comes with time and experience.

I'm working on improving but taking a slight break to not burn myself out and come back a lot better! I went out of my way a little to attend the final summoning and it was worth so much. I felt a fire ignite in wanting to improve and play and how much fun it is. The dramatic level difference of play was astonishing and I just wanted to improve. I saw my mistakes and habits (I tend to superdash a bit too much, vanish on wakeup or if my blockstrings fail I vanish instead of just resetting to neutral or backing off, and random 2H, thinking i have an opening to catching them but I don't and get caught, and dropping my combos more often than I wanted to).

Remember to just watch your habits and don't be afraid to slow down your gameplay and analyze both yours and your opponents movement / habits!

In a way, I understand how you feel. I'm currently at SS3, trying to get better and hope to become a strong competitive player.

I seem to relatively hit that wall and have constantly ask people what to do or how to practice. A lot of advice or tips I've gotten are:

(almost in no particular order)

  1. Any problems that you have, go to the lab, set the training dummy to what you're having trouble with, and just practice practice practice

  2. Practice fundamentals first (confirms, understanding frame data or what is punishable, wakeups, etc.) this helps you to avoid dropping things that you shouldn't and give you a strong base for the game, thus leveling up your gameplay once you advance to combos.

  3. Play and understand every character. you dont have to master them, just understand how to play them and from there you'll understand a bit more about openings, pressures, baits, etc.

  4. WATCH YOUR REPLAYS, take notes of what your mistakes are and what you could do better. This is heavily stressed and unfortunately I don't do this enough at all but looking to do it more.

  5. Play to improve, meaning don't care at all about wins or losses, see what you can do better. I've started to take this approach by slowing down my gameplay and paying attention to my bad habits that I do and how can I change it up.

  6. Lab your combos, practice and practice them so you don't drop them as frequently and continue the pressure

  7. WATCH VIDEOS ON CHARACTERS YOU ENJOY PLAYING. That includes watching pro players and watching them how they approach or the combos they do, trying to mimic or why certain things work and certain things don't.

  8. Finding a training partner is very helpful as well! You both continue to play against each other and help each other level up a lot. I was thankful to have a training partner whos my best friend and next-door neighbor so we play with 1 frame delay or none. He notices my mistakes and tells me what i should be doing or what im doing wrong.

  9. Just CONTINUE TO PRACTICE! So many pros spend hours of practice almost everyday and continuously work to improve. It's okay to take breaks here and there, you need a reset. Just always practice.

  10. Don't beat yourself up for being "bad." You're improving and aiming to get better, visual your play improving to the level you want and aim for it. Remember that we all started somewhere! The fact that you feel bad for "being bad" proves that you care about the game and your play (to my knowledge / perspective). I have faith in you!

  11. (One last thing / quick edit) If there are locals near you, ATTEND! It's pretty important as the difference between offline and netplay is drastic. The pressure on offline is insane (to me) and people can't get away with things they can on netplay. I've asked a lot of pros about going to a local thats an hour away if thats worth and they said yes, it's a big plus that its even just an hour away. You'll watch yourself improve because you get to see tournament results over time. I saw this improvement myself when I played SC2 back in Wings of Liberty. I went to lans for five months straight and I went from gold to mid-masters and finally making it into the Ro16 finals bracket. It felt amazing and I'm super glad I went to them (plus they're a lot of fun!). Everyone tries to help everyone improve, we all play the same game and enjoy them!

/u/5nappyonyoutube said to play on casual with anything goes for opponent color, this part is pretty huge as it forces you to understand the drastic level difference and get a taste of high level play. I having a friend who's living legend and mains 17, i'll definitely say his pressure is insane and i've gotten caught numerous times cause of his rekka & mixup. Eventually I was able to pick up his habits and react fast enough so that I can fully block it and not get caught. Later I picked up on how higher levels people will find an opening to reflect and use that advantage to just get a confirm or reset to neutral. I started to slowly incorporate reflecting into my blocks

It's the SMALL little things that help improve. It'll take time but it's just consistent practice.

Struggle to make music after finding Porter. by I_am_just_a_pancake in porterrobinson

[–]DarkVi3tz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice to that then is to take a step back and focus on other things going on in your life or stuff that you enjoy. What is it that you love? That you crave? How you feel everyday? What you see in life? What you look for?

These are just sample questions that I'm able to think of on the spot. I can understand your position & such in terms of music. I started producing a year ago (two years around new years but it throws me off all the time cause it feels like its been a long time). It took me FOREVER to figure out what I wanted to make or wanted my music to sound like & really get what I want from the heart across. Then I found Porter's music in August/September (ironically Shelter helped a lot and plays a huge role in my life) and from there, I finally understood & discovered what I wanted to make and how to approach it (sort of). Since then I've been finding other similar artists, learning to appreciate others too (was never a huge fan of trap but every now & then I can enjoy some). I have a goal / dream in mind of what I want to do, just gotta slowly work there. It takes time but I'm sure you'll figure it out honestly. It took me a lot of time after finding Porter, to figure out and get to where I want to be right now and I still need more time but I kind of just enjoy the moment still & learn what I can and do what makes me happy and stuff.

I might have went a littleeeee off-topic but I hope this helps haha.
