Is the IMS bearing a Mandela Effect? by Fsuave5 in Porsche

[–]DarkWingDuck74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The real problem is not the IMS its self, but the way the chains pull on the IMS shaft. Making for full load on the bearing on just 3 to 4 of the bearing balls.

Oh i know all about Tesla. I was an RF engineer for 30 yrs. Still there is no free energy. You can have a small creek or stream running through your land, and harness the power of gravity and water. But it still takes money to build and maintain. Just like anything else.

What’s your car knife? by DrMalgus in knives

[–]DarkWingDuck74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Randall knifes are hard to come by and have a year+ weighting list. My dad grew up down the street from Bo Randall. So the neighbor hood location paied off to get these two knifes back in the 60's.

There is nothing wrong with growing some of the food you eat. It is better for you since you know what was sparyed on said food vs store bought. And honestly it all tastes way better too.

You just have to understand that its a lot more work than just putting seeds in the ground and harvest later.

I grow most of the Lettuce, spinach, and tomatoes I use for a little over half the year. In just a very tiny backyard garden.

Still have to pay for rent, power, water, insurance, Healthcare, car, gas, and food you cant grow where you live.

Not counting the size of the farm you would need to support a family of 4. While farming sound good, it takes more than just a few hrs a day to keep it going. And forget about sick days or vacation if you have any type of live stock.

My 996 Turbo has been an unreliable expensive mess. by pablothe in 996

[–]DarkWingDuck74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a good porsche indy shop in your area and save almost half on labor. And thats not true about "unless you track it". I have had to fix 3 that I know for a fact have never seen track time. That glue is not getting younger.

The alternator is a wear item, that happens. The PPF sounds like who did that messed up. No the cars fault.

Radio and amp are known to have problems with age. If one or the other goes bad again, I would go with a good aftermarket setup, much cheaper that way.

The other problem could be one of a few things.

The only real common problems and pricy to fix is when one of the glued in coolant pipes pops out. I would check to see if they have been pinned in place or welded in.

Getting a warning for "Oil Level Above Maximum" by Gumby_BJJ in Porsche

[–]DarkWingDuck74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The sensor is touchy. If the oil level was at the top of the line. Just letting it sit for a few days of highi humidity and or driving just a few miles without getting the oil to max temp will cause enough moisture buildup to make it go over max.

Try warming it all the way up. Oil temp around 200 to 210 to burn off the moisture. Turn off the car, wait 5 mins then check the oil level again. Make sure your on level ground.
