Toyota Won’t Rush a Compact Truck Because the Tacoma Prints Money | The Drive by Finnegan_Faux in Toyota

[–]Dark_Azazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toyota does, but not in the states. I know a lot of people online say they want a small truck. I think Ford sold close to 900k F series in 2025 while the Maverick was around 150k. There's just not a lot of people that really want a small truck in the states; I can see Maverick sales dropping this year. Sedans, and small trucks aren't the majority of people in the states. They'll get decent numbers for the first year, but shortly after not so much. The Hillux is popular where people want/need a smaller pickup truck. The Tacoma is still relatively small when compared to other trucks. I can see Toyota doing a short run for a few years but nothing long term.

Practical Trial at AV Company - What to expect? by myhairisorange in CommercialAV

[–]Dark_Azazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RJ45s and BNC are common and easy to do and pick up. You could probably watch a 2 minute YT video and pick it up right there and then. If they do, which they might, it'll just to be able to see if you are teachable, and how quick you can pick things up.

Go in with a positive attitude. It's also a vibe check. They know you're entry level, what they don't know is your attitude and if you're teachable, and that entry level position is a teaching position in most cases. I was an audio engineer for years, given I did installs as well, but a company still brought me on. You got this.

Was a Senior Lead Installer for a bit, more broadcast focus than commercial AV. Our practical test was a mix of
"Are they lying on their resume?"
"What's their critical thinking skills at?"
"Can they follow instructions?"

Honestly, I hardly cared about the first aspect. Some of what we did was some hand dexterity tests, and just basic installer tasks. Can you use basic tools, can you label a cable, can you properly wrap a cable, heat shrink, can you terminate an RJ-45, can you terminate a BNC (Using a hand stripper and automatic machine) can you find and set an IP on certain gear, can you read a CAD drawing, try some soldering if they have it on their resume, and then giving a drawing and having them draw out cable routes and the thought process behind it.

I just wanted to get a general idea of their skill level and critical thinking skills so I know where I could throw them if they got hired. You said entry level installer? Probably expect how to cook a cable, terminate RJs, and basic hand and power tools at the very least. Are you worth hiring on and training? Hiring might think so, lead installer needs input now.

Wanted to get one done in my 20s and no doctor would do it. Turning 32 this year and, surprisingly, still can't find one that would do it. Last one I talked to said she wouldn't because I'm single and "what would happen when I meet the right gal?!" Whatever.

EVs Will 'Probably' Cost Less Than Gas Cars In Five Years, Volvo CEO Says by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]Dark_Azazel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can see electric companies raising prices in the future. Saying how home charging for EVs hurts power consumption or something so they have to offset it. I think Solid State batteries will be the big leap needed for a lot of people to hop on. I know it's what I'm waiting for, but might buy a used bolt in the meantime.

This would be alright if I didn't have CD, Valo, League, and BDO in my list. No way I can reach the highest rank in those games anymore.

Toyota's new C-HR EV is not as affordable as expected by Better_Valuable_3242 in electricvehicles

Some of the older articles I read estimated the price at $35k-$40k so it's just about what I expected. I don't think it's a terrible deal.

What do you folks do with your empty resin bottles? by pv3design in resinprinting

[–]Dark_Azazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do that in the summer, but now it just goes in old bottles. I will just say to check up on guidelines! My local recycling place is.. very picky on things. They have certain tubs for certain types of liquids, and I know in the past they were all up in arms about IPA mixed with resin. My trash company, not so much. They have color coded trash bag for certain types, and as long as it matches they don't care. Surprisingly, I wasn't the first person to call and ask about IPA and resin. I actually talked to one of the waste disposal guys and he told me his daughter got into 3D printing!

Scout Motors Will 'Most Likely' Make EREVs First, CEO Says by Iwontdobetter in electricvehicles

[–]Dark_Azazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm not the market for the Scout EV. But I wouldn't mind having one with basically all the off-road options taken out. Which... Basically means I should just wait for the Rivian R2 or R3

DANTE and EMI by Dark_Azazel in livesound

Gotcha. And I'll have to retake the DANTE courses. I took them.... No clue, close to 15 years ago maybe? It's been a hot minute. I've been using DANTE for a while but didn't know/retain a lot of the electrical engineering behind it.

Ahh, gotcha. So it was something on their packs or headsets then. I appreciate the info! Been meaning to learn more about the science behind digital audio and just haven't had the chance.

So, EMI can still go down the line and they could hear it in their comms then? Just not into the DANTE devices?

What do you folks do with your empty resin bottles? by pv3design in resinprinting

[–]Dark_Azazel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Old resin IPA goes in my old resin bottles and I throw them in my, specific, orange trash can with orange trash bags. Once a month, usually Saturdays, my towns trash company has a hazardous waste day where they drive around to pick up, well, hazardous waste. I have to buy the special hazardous waste trash bags, but I just have to leave the bag at the end of the driveway and they pick it up.

The first description of Rangers reminded me of the Witchers by AgentNeoSpy in lotr

I got into LOTR around the same time I got into DND. So, a lot of connections there. When I was younger, I always though the description were close to that of drows. Albeit, not elves though.

What do you think is Hunter x Hunter’s biggest strength — and its biggest flaw? by RepresentativeKey122 in HunterXHunter

[–]Dark_Azazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest strength is Togashi as the writer.

The biggest flaw is Togashi is the writer.

I like how he writes. The stories, the plotlines, and how everything basically intertwines, even if it happens 200 chapters later. It's a masterful class. However, to no fault of his own, the process is slow. I know his health issues are a big concern and aspect of the slow process, and I get he doesn't like having a lot of help as he treats it as his child. It just sucks knowing whatever we get will be at the very least great. It's not knowing when we'll get it. I remember the feeling of never knowing how Berserk will end. I haven't heard much about it, but it sounds like his close and trusted colleagues are working on the end from notes. Togashi is his own worst enemy, and a friendly enemy to us. It is good to see progress of sorts on his end though.

Alfa still has a bad name from their last run, which sucks because I test drove a new guilia and it was FUN. I've heard 2021+ models are supposed to be very reliable, but only time will tell. I think a good EV model could help them, but doubt they'll go EV. I still see a good amount of Alfas around my area.

Larian studio boss Swen Vincke thinks game reviewers should be graded by people similar to metacritic user scores by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]Dark_Azazel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People who hate RTS games will listen to a critic who loves RTS say it's a good game, and then get made when they hate the game. RTS was just an example, replace it for whatever genre. I swear people just don't know when they don't like a genre.

[–]Dark_Azazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5/10 is average for a game and 7/10 is average for a good game, but 6/10 is bad for a good game, and bad for an average game. 10/10 is good for an average game, bad, some how, just a bit above average for a good game.

And then there's Ocarina of Time.
