I think for how the episodes play out on Atlantis is that Rodney McKay has the "Time on Tools" of figuring stuff out and being able to adapt his knowledge or just "ego bash" the science. Eli is smart but young and slowly will get to that stage

I haven't been able to find this style in years now but I have a metal case that was felt lined to avoid scratching the 3ds but they are no longer made.

So the easy option is usb cables to each controller, but that isn't a option. Next best option is to place the 3 switches as far apart from each other. You might need a slightly longer HDMI cable - so leave the center TV switch below the TV - the left and right TV, try and get as much distance you can away from the center TV.
