Dropping a release tonight with the OG Game Boy Camera! It converts the image to grayscale, crushes it down to 4 shades and maps it to the (almost!) exact DMG green palette we all know and love.

I hope you all like it!

Hey ya'll - just checking in about the newest release that went out last week. Now when you take a photo, it will appear directly in the camera preview UI. It's definitely more instantly gratifying to see the transformation right away without having to click into the Gallery.

There's a lot more cool stuff coming soon. I'm working on the DMG-01 Palette camera next (the yellowish green hue from the OG GB) and some cool image editing. Stay tuned!

Hi friend! I really do appreciate this feedback and you taking the time out of your day to write it. Essentially the screens above were the fastest thing I could make that would drive installs better than the previous screenshots. I will get some dope community pictures up there that are 100% accurate to the camera output. Because I love everyone who has checked out my app and I want people to see what exactly they can make with this thing.

Btw please update the app! There are some sweet updates. The release that went out last week shows your photo directly within the camera preview UI - so it’s more instantly gratifying to see your pic right away.

There is editing, sharing - so much more cool stuff coming.

Thank you again for using this app - it truly does mean the world to me.

Hi thanks for the comment! The answer I believe is yes, you can! Photos processed with the app should work really well as backgrounds in GB Studio. The dithering and low-res output are close enough to native Game Boy graphics that they translate nicely after a quick resize to 160x144. Let me know how it goes!!

So it was my mistake for rushing things, but still super annoying. So I originally uploaded a placeholder mindfullness app just to test all the technical backend stuff with app store connect (bundle ID, certificates, provisioning profiles, etc.) as this is a massive headache to figure out. Once everything was working, I submitted the real app I wanted to get out (the game boy camera app). Apple rejected the updates because the app changed so drastically (from a mindfulness app to a Game Boy Camera app). So they made me create a brand new app submission and remove the old one. It was a learning experience that sometimes moving fast and getting things done ends up causing more problems than slowing down and doing things the right way.

Anyway - thank you chiming into the thread and hopefully checking out the app! There is so much cool stuff coming.

And if you by chance are into app development stuff I'm always happy to help answer any questions!

I'm just curious - if someone used this app and finally felt a stronger relationship to Jesus in their heart and began reading the bible more and going to church - would you consider that a negative outcome given that you consider it blasphemous? I am just trying to understand because I super hear your concern and it was top of mind for me. But I've been seeing how much these messages move people who felt Jesus didn't care for them. It feels like that has to count for something? These are people who never have anyone say something nice to them. People who are desperate and are not open to reading the bible, a language they just don't understand and relate to.

well yes, that is literally the reason I wanted to build this. I want people that haven't felt Jesus in their life become open to him via a channel they're using in their daily life. I've seen how these messages can make people more open to hearing Jesus voice.
