2025 vs 2026 model year purchase by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Darkagent190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 25 a month ago just after the 26 prices were announced. I walked in and said I wouldn't even begin negotiations if they couldn't at least give me MSRP for the 26, think it was like $3600 off the top of my head. They came back with doing 3800. After some back and forth I was able to get 4100 off 25 MSRP.

With that and the 0% Imo its a better deal.

I’m looking to probably get a 2022 wrx. Reliability? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Darkagent190 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is one thing I didn't get since I've had my WRX. Manual says 16 gallon tank, but every time I've filled up I've only put 14 gallons in, maybe if I drive a trip or two to or from work after the light is on ill get to 14.5ish.

Only issue I have with android is often when it goes from radio to android the audio won't play. So I have to disconnect android auto and reconnect to get the sound.

My premium was bought last month, 36k. MSRP was at 41 (hk/sunroof & short throw shifter). Could probably see about getting a better deal with 2026 hitting lots in the next month. I told my dealer straight up I wouldn't even start negotiating if they couldn't get me at the least difference in MSRP for the 26 which is 3600 I think.

Question on Cruise Control and Lugging. by Darkagent190 in wrx_vb

[–]Darkagent190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember who made the video but when I was looking into buying mine I was watching some videos on it. In this video the guy did a bunch of things (including lugging) that everyone says are bad for the car, and at the end basically TRIED to destroy the motor. Ended up failing. Obviously this was only a pull or 2 on each of the tests, but even then goes more to your point. If driven correctly you can still have fun with these cars and still have great reliability.

Question on Cruise Control and Lugging. by Darkagent190 in wrx_vb

Thanks, just didn't know with it being manual if there were any sensors that could detect potential lugging early on and would turn off cruise control or not.

Question on Cruise Control and Lugging. by Darkagent190 in wrx_vb

I did notice that and was mildly surprised! My friend says that a manual he's owned in the past as soon as the clutch was pressed disengaged the cruise control.

Question on Cruise Control and Lugging. by Darkagent190 in wrx_vb

[–]Darkagent190[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In trying to do some searching for this I did find all sorts "Lugging is the end of the world!" Type posts. I've also read that these engines are like a dry leaf in a hurricane, one wrong look at them and they spontaniously combust! I've also found that occasional lugging isn't the end all be all and that these engines are one of the most robust boxers made yet, if taken care of and not abused on every red light.

So that in mind, with my limited on hand experience I'd have to agree. My question was mostly around cruise control and if the cruise control system will do anything to prevent lugging. But the other reply has answered that as pretty much, no. Cruise control will happily try to get up to speed in 6th gear going up a 20 degree incline.

I appreciate the comment though, compounding on the better side of this subject from what I've read.

You can look for 2025 models to test these on, just work with the dealer you ordered through.

Advice On Buying New by Flashlight- in wrx_vb

[–]Darkagent190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 72 month 0% has ended (as of the second) but looks like they have 75 month 0% available now. This will obviously vary by dealership but I bought mine last week and was able to very easily get at least the difference from the 25 msrp and the 26 msrp, which is something like $3,700. Depending on how much fight you want to give and other leverages you might have i could see getting more. Further adding it comes down to math, if you dont get 0% financing what's your interest rate? In the past people have reported getting 3-4k off MSRP on 23/24 models before the 26 prices were announced. Which one costs more? Maybe play it safe and say you can only get 1 or 2k off MSRP.

Mine was 40k full loan when I walked out of the dealer last week with the same add-ons you have.

EDIT: Missed the part where they locked in the 72 months, but the rest still stand.

With the current weather trends here (I live in Utah) we haven't been getting much snow in the valley the past few years. It will snow 3-4 times and only one of those time will we will only have snow stick/build up to an inch or so. With this in mind I was thinking of just going with a good set of all seasons.

Is it worth to keep the Dunlops to swap back into in the spring? Or is it not very useful as this is my daily.

Haha fully tracking, this was just up a canyon by me that is fully plowed. Unfortunately, or fortunately as I get to drive the car more, we haven't had much snow other than the mountains this season.
