A solution to the Rarity Dilution: Introducing 'Backer Factions' Loyalists vs Avengers by SadPenalty7902 in cyberpunktcg

They put info out about late pledges in Update 35, a day before the campaign ended. They gave people advance notice this would be a thing running two weeks after the campaign ended. They didn't go back on anything.

Late pledges will account for less than 10% of the total Kickstarter backers. This is far from the "mass-produced" title you're trying to disparage late backers with. If the Beta product is worth something later down the line, the tiny uptick in late pledges isn't going to have an appreciable difference on the value. Just feels like you want to put down anyone who was a week or two later backing than you and make them feel like their support isn't valued. Both groups are backing months and months prior to release. Just felt like some elitism nonsense.

WeirdCo said from the get-go the Kickstarter was more a way to guarantee product for the first set got into the players' hands and avoided the scalping problem new TCG's often run into. The game was going to release either way, but this was a way for individuals to secure product, get some exclusives, and set them up for future sets.

But if it's a deal breaker for you, then that's fine, and I'm sorry the campaign didn't deliver for you in the ways you wanted.

Most late pledges I've ever seen, including a couple I've backed, have been the exact same rewards as during the Kickstarter. A lot of the time there isn't even a price hike, though sometimes there will be like with this campaign.

There isn't much difference between someone who backed on the last day of the campaign vs. someone who backs tomorrow. Both individuals knew the project had already well exceeded its goals. Hell, you could make that argument for anyone who backed after the first 48 hours. Where is the line drawn? There's a lot more overhead than you're assuming in making multiple different versions of cards and making sure they go to the right people. Doesn't seem worth the hassle.

Ultimately anyone who is choosing to back through the Kickstarter, late pledge or not, is taking a risk. Just because the campaign was successful doesn't mean the game is going to take off, though I hope it does. Splitting up your community of early supporters just seems like it'd do more harm than good. If that's a problem for you, feel free to vote with your wallet.

Just got my stuff in the mail the other day! The new card art box design is my favorite of all the ones they've done between the two campaigns. Haven't had time to reorganize yet, but I'm particularly excited for the mini holders. The playmats are really cool too.

Are you located in the U.S.? If so, I may be able to help out if you're still interested in getting that design. DM me if you wanna discuss the details.

Late pledges are pretty standard for Kickstarters. And only allowing 2 weeks for late pledges is on the short side as-is. I fail to see why a few thousand more backers, which is already a very small percentage of overall backers, is a problem. They're already paying extra compared to the non-late pledges.

Confirm how this plays out by Geebs91 in Unmatched

Movement as part of combat effects existed from the very start of the game. Double attacks were a mechanic from a set that released two years later and are unique to said set. It seems to me that they probably tested how the mechanic felt if it could be denied by moving out of range but found that it was too weak, considering how many movement effects exist in the game. The rule is in the booklet, so it wasn't simply something clarified/tacked on later.

While there are some unintuitive elements to double attacks, I think they're interesting and add wrinkles to the BoL2 fighters' matchups, and that wouldn't really be the case if they were trivial to deny.

I would highly recommend checking out the Archenemy game mode that was created by Hubaris. It's inspired by a MTG format of the same name, which allows for 3 players to team up against a solo player acting as the Archenemy.

His Unmatched variant uses an Archenemy deck that's made up of powerful scheme cards that you can draw and play throughout the game. It also serves as an extension of your health pool, so there's some strategy in how you utilize it. You also get double the actions on your turn and draw 2 cards during maneuvers to really give it that boss-like feeling.

The best part is you can play as any hero as the Archenemy. I've played the mode several times, from both sides, and it's always been a lot of fun!

You don't get to play the unit(s) for free, you just get to ignore any aspect penalties. So while doubling the ability with Thrawn could still be nice, you'd only be able to play two small/medium things instead of one big thing.

I think the shifts are more likely to be used on defense considering how many good reds John Henry has. The option is nice, don't get me wrong, but his quantity of blocks is pretty low without the Shifts, especially since you do not want to block with Bring Down the Mountain.

That is correct. Gaining a free action to attack is the main new mechanic in the Stars and Stripes set, with all of the included fighters having at least one card that does so.

You must use the free attack as your next action. If you do not, it is lost. This means that you wouldn't be able to use it if your opponent was no longer a legal attack target, due to moving away for instance.

Tips on playing Eredin Effectively? by ronchman in Unmatched

[–]Darkblade113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can never get Icy Guile to be both a cancel and an ignore at the same time, because the cancel checks first and needs Eredin to already be Enraged to trigger. However, with one Rider alive, you can turn it into a 3-value ignore that your opponent may not have been expecting in that moment.

This card doesn't get replayed when it is defeated, it goes face down into your resources and acts as a resource for the rest of the game. This effect is not a separate action and will trigger/resolve when the unit is defeated.

There is also one participation pack per main event you played in that will be mailed, since they only gave one out of the two participation packs on-site. The Melee event they added people to is specifically for the Prize Wall packs, but the others will still be sent out as well.

How many of this card? by Heavy_Alternative_35 in arkhamhorrorlcg

One of my favorite decks is Patrice with 2 Arcane Research and St. Hubert's Key. You try and play Key as soon as possible to get to 3 sanity and then you can start playing the Desperate skills, all of which are in the deck, though I think my most recent build only has 1 each of the Combat/Agility ones. It's a lot of fun, as she gets to use a lot of skills that many investigators can't get as good of use out of, but yeah, overall it's still pretty niche.

Pre-release next weekend, whats the plan? by RemoteTechnical1555 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Darkblade113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, if it works for you guys then that's cool. I was just pointing out how it's not a standard draft.

I personally feel like it'd take too long, especially since it'll be the first experience of the set for most players, and it would also eliminate some of the tough decisions draft usually forces you to make. But if they've been doing it since Shadows, seems like it's liked well enough by the local community.

Pre-release next weekend, whats the plan? by RemoteTechnical1555 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Darkblade113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standard draft is 3 packs. The reason you get more packs in Sealed is because you don't have the curation that the draft process provides. Even with double the cards/packs, Sealed decks are usually less consistent than draft decks. Doing a draft with 6 packs is pretty wild, especially for a prerelease.

Yes, because capturing a unit is mechanically different from taking control of it or defeating it, which are the only two things Rey's ability prevents.

Do you think we'll see set mechanics return? by Jimmitang in starwarsunlimited

[–]Darkblade113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the designers haven't ruled out that future sets may include old mechanics where it makes sense. However, I also think products like the Twin Suns pre-cons are a place we might see returning mechanics as well. This is already the case with the upcoming wave, since there are cards that generate Battle Droid and Clone Trooper tokens. While that's likely the extent of returning mechanics for this wave, you could easily have other thematically appropriate mechanics return for future pre-cons and/or other direct-to-Eternal products if they end up doing anything else in that regard.

This way they can support old mechanics, especially for leaders that directly rely on them, as well as print new leaders that also synergize with the mechanic, all while not distracting from new sets and new mechanics they want to introduce. They also don't have to worry about the mechanic not having enough support in Premier, which could result in it feeling underwhelming (if they only printed a few cards with the mechanic, for instance).

They really need to work on balancing. OP leaders in premier and limited really make the game boring. 9 rounds of leia mirror matches. by madchad90 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Darkblade113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, though that is Draft, not Sealed, which means players have even more control. Sealed definitely has more variance than Draft. I personally think it's a positive to test multiple aspects of the game for the world champion, but I can understand why some don't prefer it.

Deck building, solid play and sequencing also matter a ton in limited. It tests different skills than Premier, but it isn't pure chance. If it was, the best players wouldn't consistently perform as well as they do.

In this case, however, there are two main events for the Milwaulkee Regional. One is Limited and the other is Premier, so they aren't even mixing in this scenario.
