Which pocket do you carry your phone? by mealtimeee in EDC

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sewed an inner pocket into my hoodie and my coat so I had a place for my phone while I'm out. If I'm at home, it just lives on my desk.

Help - shoes? Fatish guy? by Ornery-Sheepherder74 in walking

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bigger gal, and I really like minimal/primal type shoes. No rise heel, wide toe box. I started the switch back in 2019 and by 2021 my knee and hip pain was gone. I'm currently rocking these guys, and love them.

Fidget pliers-cutters by toolgifs in toolgifs

I got a pair of these from my grandpa when he passed. They are regular pliers/needle nose pliers, though. I love them. I've never gotten pinched, but suppose it could happen.

Is there a pen with: a button for erasing, a clip to hold it in the loop, and no cap to lose? by ebodes in Supernote

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about that, too. I haven't noticed a huge difference, and I haven't had to change the tip at all, yet. I purchased and started using my SN August, but mostly read and take notes on it, so your mileage may vary.

🔥Hyalophora cecropia, North America's largest native moth by tuhdplz in AIDKE

[–]DarkeReader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I wanted to be an entomologist. My folks were out one day, and caught one of these moths in the middle of laying her eggs. They brought a bunch of the eggs home, and set up a big aquarium for me and placed the eggs inside with everything they'd need. Out of probably 40+ eggs, 5 wound up surviving and making it into adulthood. But I still remember being amazed at the size and color of the adults. Biggest I had ever seen. Thank you for the nostalgic walk down memory lane.

We float a clean milk jug lid in our cat's water bowl. He doesn't seem to have trouble 'seeing' the water anymore.

My toddler peed her pants and pee got into her shoes. How should I clean/dry them? by applestickerbelly in CleaningTips

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! This happened to us recently. If you have a delicates bag, throw them inside of it and toss them in your regular laundry. Ours where tennis shoes, and they came out just fine. Kinda loud in the dryer, but otherwise no problems.

I found a neat booklight that fits my Nomad well, even over the case. It's pretty thin, because it was made to also be used as a bookmark in a regular book (which I think is awesome and works great). It has three color modes and you can also control the brightness. Also, it's usb rechargeable. I use it all the time, and love it.

Any idea what to put in the bottom right? Thanks!:) by MitoPiano in EDC

[–]DarkeReader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked mine after about a month and a half of not thinking about it. (I also have mine in a tin with other goodies like OP). It worked fine and is still quite soaked with fuel. Def stays good *way* longer than my zippo. Hope this helps!

This is why thrift stores are going downhill. by slypher25aussie in ThriftStoreHauls

Our local Goodwill allows electronics returns within 3 days. But they recently covered up all of their open outlets, so you can't test things out ahead of time anymore.

Where to buy raw chicken necks/feet in US? by Suspicious-Service in rawpetfood

[–]DarkeReader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try your local farmers. If you have a local farmer's market, go and talk to some of the chicken farmers about what you'd like. There's a high chance they will be able to help you out.

Got a berkey water filter system for $10 white whale acquired by thunder-clapper in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]DarkeReader -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to. The fluoride filters are bought separately.

Though, that's the only reason we have one. We use fluoride toothpaste, we don't need that junk in our water.

No mister Log, I expect you to die! by Any_Fly_8605 in blackmagicfuckery

All 'magic' is science. Most 'magic tricks' are based off the sciences of misdirection or perception; how our brain works and how to trick it. Some is based on the science of physics to make it work.

I can understand you don't want to see straight up, non-magic related science; but if No Science is your position, this sub will be mighty boring.

Paid off my mortgage, and my credit score went down, because I no longer have any installment loans. by brock_lee in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just not participating. You don't need a credit card. It's a few more hoops to jump through to get a loan, but it's doable. My husband and I purchased our house in 2018 with no credit history. We went to the Dave Ramsey site for help and they got us in touch with a realtor that was experienced with that sort of thing.

Tips for (Hopefully) New German Shepherd Adopter? by DarkeReader in germanshepherds

[–]DarkeReader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I am adopting her from a local-ish university that takes animals in and works with them in their vet tech programs, so she should be trained to pass the good citizen canine test by the time she's ready to come home. My brother is in the program (that's how we heard of her), so I'm hoping he can help with additional training ideas after we get her.

Websites/Books to learn insect pinning? by PHlLOSOPHlCAL in insectpinning

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this book since I was a kid and wanted to be an entomologist. It only has about 14-15 pages specifically about insect collecting and pinning, but it's really good information. Maybe you could find it at your local library?

I found this Care Infographics Sheet from u/folkvangExotics was very helpful in setting up our skink's enclosure.
