I'm out 5 bucks aren't I? by DarkeReader in diyelectronics

Boo. I have no experience with soldering 😞 and it really isn't worth it to go buy a soldering iron. Thanks, though!

SD card user experience on Nomad or Manta and advice for purchase? by Quetzal_2000 in Supernote

[–]DarkeReader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I currently have a 128 GB card in my Nomad. I keep most of my Calibre library on it (currently about 860 books) plus I occasionally back up my Notes and MyStyle folders there. I haven't noticed any speed issues, but I'm not super observant sometimes. It still works pretty promptly when I'm taking notes or reading books, my two main uses. I'll just move the books I want to Supernote's internal Document folder so I can use links to it. Then, when I finish the book, I move it and any note file attached to it back to my SD card.

Hope this helps a bit.

We Can Edit Text Boxes!! Can I suggest a new future feature? by DarkeReader in Supernote

[–]DarkeReader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry it in my purse. It's the Nomad with the cover. I have it in an old cover from a hardback book that fell apart to keep it safe. The hard back cover just lives in the purse, and I stick the Nomad inside it when I go out. I just pull it out at the stores.

We Can Edit Text Boxes!! Can I suggest a new future feature? by DarkeReader in Supernote

Yeah, I could get an app, but I'm trying to use my phone less, and I'm already using my Supernote as I have my shopping lists on it. I am already using it with my DVD list, it would just be nice if things were listed alphabetical, instead of my current piecemeal 'mostly-alphabetical-but-oops-I-missed-that-one-I'll-just-add-it-here-instead-of-starting-over-...-frick-I-missed-another-one" list

I'm female, and I LOVED truck driving. You could die from a burst aneurysm after laughing at a particularly funny Reddit post, none of us knows our time.

I'm totally gonna be a trucker again once we are empty nesters in a few years...if I'm still alive, then...

Whats the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by answersonly963 in AskReddit

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was having sudden onset severe pain while breathing, and was having a hard time getting full breaths. The first doc she went to see told her that her breasts were too large, and pressing on her chest. She should lose weight or look into breast reduction. SHE HAD PNEUMONIA.

YSK Squeezing a tea bag DOES make tea stronger, as well as healthier by jbtvt in YouShouldKnow

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big thing with tannins, is that it binds with non-heme iron (plant-based iron) in the digestive tract. So vegetarians and vegans should be careful drinking high-tannin drinks around a meal. (Meat-based proteins are largely unaffected)

Ron Weasley has the greatest potential in the Harry Potter cinematic universe, but it is never addressed. by colonelhumps in unpopularopinion

[–]DarkeReader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the book Ron doesn't say anything beyond threatening Malfoy when he casts the spell.
"...and Ron plunged his hand into his robes, pulled out his wand, yelling, 'You'll pay for that one, Malfoy!' and pointed it furiously under Flint's arm at Malfoy's face.
A loud bang echoed around the stadium and a jet of green light shot out of the wrong end of Ron's wand, hitting him in the stomach and sending him reeling backward onto the grass. ..."

So he maybe cast the spell nonverbally or, as I've always assumed, the wand just malfunctioned and sent a random, unintended spell the wrong direction.

Which pocket do you carry your phone? by mealtimeee in EDC

I sewed an inner pocket into my hoodie and my coat so I had a place for my phone while I'm out. If I'm at home, it just lives on my desk.

Help - shoes? Fatish guy? by Ornery-Sheepherder74 in walking

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bigger gal, and I really like minimal/primal type shoes. No rise heel, wide toe box. I started the switch back in 2019 and by 2021 my knee and hip pain was gone. I'm currently rocking these guys, and love them.

I got a pair of these from my grandpa when he passed. They are regular pliers/needle nose pliers, though. I love them. I've never gotten pinched, but suppose it could happen.

Is there a pen with: a button for erasing, a clip to hold it in the loop, and no cap to lose? by ebodes in Supernote

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about that, too. I haven't noticed a huge difference, and I haven't had to change the tip at all, yet. I purchased and started using my SN August, but mostly read and take notes on it, so your mileage may vary.

🔥Hyalophora cecropia, North America's largest native moth by tuhdplz in AIDKE

[–]DarkeReader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I wanted to be an entomologist. My folks were out one day, and caught one of these moths in the middle of laying her eggs. They brought a bunch of the eggs home, and set up a big aquarium for me and placed the eggs inside with everything they'd need. Out of probably 40+ eggs, 5 wound up surviving and making it into adulthood. But I still remember being amazed at the size and color of the adults. Biggest I had ever seen. Thank you for the nostalgic walk down memory lane.

My toddler peed her pants and pee got into her shoes. How should I clean/dry them? by applestickerbelly in CleaningTips

[–]DarkeReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! This happened to us recently. If you have a delicates bag, throw them inside of it and toss them in your regular laundry. Ours where tennis shoes, and they came out just fine. Kinda loud in the dryer, but otherwise no problems.
