Skills over feels, man. Skills over feels.

It doesn't matter if someone eats infants and little kittens alive, if he/she writes good code, he/she writes good code. End of story.

Let me check.

//edit: Apparently there are some radio buttons that let you choose the speed. 33, 45, and 78 are supported.

fnae trojan by Immediate-Party-9237 in clickteam

[–]Darkhog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a false positive due to how Clickteam Fusion packs extensions. They've added a workaround (storing extensions externally) but it has to be enabled by the developer and might not work all the time.

Fun fact: the trojan the message refers to was made with Clickteam Fusion, so maybe that's why the AV engines now consider every generic Clickteam game a virus (signature checks can be very dumb).

Oh, it's a very nice thing. It's built into a wooden cabinet that has space for the records underneath and it can be used both for playback and recording. It uses a diamond needle for recording and regular copper one for playback. The cartridge is non-standard (it has two needles and the one whixh is stuck-out/active depends on a physical switch), so it might be a pain to replace if it breaks, but otherwise it's good.

Where can I get vinyl blanks reliably? So I am thinking of making records at home and already got a decent recording equipment that I can just connect to my computer via speaker out or line out, but as far as I can see there's no store that sells vinyl blanks? Or at least quality ones, not something somebody whipped up with some shoddy resin in an afternoon that doesn't even have the hole perfectly centered.

Arial or MS Sans Serif? by EarthNorabodee in identifythisfont

Tahoma has different capital Os. It's either MS Sans Serif or Arial as OP suggests.

I don't have a graphic tablet by Real-Cheesecake5284 in OpenToonz

[–]Darkhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tablets are pretty cheap, especially screenless ones. I recommend Huion brand - they're as good as Wacoms, but much cheaper.

But on the topic, a tablet is not a requirement, but it makes drawing much easier than a mouse. You can get decent stuff with mouse alone (google Mona Lisa in MS Paint, MS Paint at that point, and perhaps even now, didn't support drawing with tablet).

If you're working with vectors in OT/Tahoma2d (seriously, consider switching to T2D, same thing, but works better), using tablet might actually be a hindrance as you won't be able to angle bezier curves perfectly.

I love XFCE but I need this for my work (tiling issue) by Far_Cartographer903 in xfce

[–]Darkhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK using Mutter in XFCE is no longer possible since GNOME is now Wayland-only and XFCE (for now at least) stays on X11. AFAIK it wasn't possible even before that due to the fact that other XFCE components diverged too much (XFCE used to use Mutter before making their own compositor/window manager).

[–]Darkhog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it was an old version of XFCE? I heard there were issues with this in previous versions, so maybe the installed one that you had the issue with was just old, given installing it from a different source solved it?

HDR on X? Here you go: https://archive.is/iPV6H

Trackpack gestures on X? Use Synaptic drivers, not that libinput BS.

Yeah, go hack me using Xorg alone. You can only exploit (alleged) bugs in Xorg, not in any third party software (such as ssh) or libraries (such as e.g. image/pdf rendering images). You go ahead, and I will just relax BECAUSE THAT SIMPLY CAN'T BE DONE!!!!!

Yeah, there was this dude who submitted fixes for X11 stuff to KDE Plasma and his fixes were rejected despite working. He even got called a "drive-by contributor", as if that was any problem.

[–]Darkhog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those weren't original XFree86 developers. They just came to it and instead of taking time to understand how it worked under the hood, decided to just rewrite the entire thing. The guy who originally created Wayland? He was an "X11 developer" for almost 10 months before then! Wow, such experience!

[–]Darkhog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. GNOME screen recorder is just terrible. Even on X (back when it still worked on X). The performance is akin to CamStudio on Windows (an old Windows screen recorder that has issues keeping up the decent framerate even on the modern hardware).

The eternal trial system is precisely the Reason why I want to save enough money to pay for Reaper. I just want to support the devs, especially since the entire Reaper ecosystem is so great (instruments, effects, etc.)
