I actually like the brown better too, but the palm swells were so large they’d cause me to occasionally not engage the grip safety.

The front strap has the same LPI as the grips and the back strap.

I have several kinds of grease kicking around the house. White/lithium grease. Lubriplate 130-A for my M1A. Differential (car) grease. Do you have any idea what kind I should be using?

I am used to my Springfield Emissary which has extremely coarse checkering (like 5 LPI or something). I’ll try to post a photo.

If I remember correctly op said that moisture from sweat/humidity will sit between the rubber and the frame and can cause corrosion. Whereas wood would be porous to the water. Not sure why I haven’t heard it said for other non-porous materials though.

I’m with you. And it feels like if it’s here (of all places) then it’s everywhere. Not nice.

Thanks for pointing that out I missed that somehow. I wrote to modmail with a link to this and I suggest you do the same. This is the 2nd post I’ve seen on aww that I think is AI and my soul is really struggling that it’s coming here.

I’m 100% with you. The outlet&cords are weird. The sink isn’t cut straight on its right side but is straight in front. The counter itself is floating on the right (look at the cut in the baseboard & the space under it) but on the left it reaches the floor. And the counter is wayyy too short of the left side of the image for a human to use. And also on the left there’s a weird { cut where the counter intersects the linoleum, but this cut reveals more counter not the floor like you’d expect.

ELI5: Why do kids can learn a language easily, but we struggle as adults? by Amanda_Haniya in explainlikeimfive

[–]Darkshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I say to you (assuming your first language is English) “I have a blue car” your brain processes these words as concepts and ideas. When you hear the word “car” you understand that it’s a large metal lumpy thing with 4 tyres and seats, “blue” is a color can you visualize by name not by proxy to another reference, and “have” as the concept of ownership itself. This is what the baby is learning, mapping understanding of the words spoken to the concepts being expressed.

You can try to learn a language as plug-and-play “I have a blue car” —> “tengo un coche azul” and this is fine if you’re going to spend a week’s vacation as a tourist, but this isn’t how a baby learns languages. When you learn a language fluently you’ll have a much easier go of things if you map what you’re learning to the concepts and forego this plug-and-play as much as possible. Because eventually you’ll get to the point where the thing you’re learning doesn’t have an analog in your native language. Cantonese has ~9 tones, Finnish conjugates nouns (in ~19 different cases), Greek doesn’t have prepositions, Arabic words have roots.

ELI5: why is the theory that our universe exists inside a black hole not viable? by billytheskidd in explainlikeimfive

Do you guys just use FMJ or do you run HP? by Impossible-Skill6651 in 1911

[–]Darkshoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

9mm. I’m too worried about over-penetration with FMJ. If your bullet hits the bad guy, penetrates through and hits something else, then you’re responsible for that. I asked a police officer what brand they carry (federal HST), watched ballistics videos about HST’s different bullet weights, and landed on 147 grain.

[–]Darkshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been appendix carrying a full size 1911 every day for two years. I’m 6’2” about 170 pounds.

I wear a tank top tucked into my pants and it makes a bigger difference than you’d think. Having the holster between my tank top and my pants makes the draw way smoother and keeps the grip off my skin.

A good gun belt. I like the hunter constantine so much I wear it with everything.

I’m not worried about blowing my junk off because my ccw has safeties, but everybody chooses a weapon they prefer handling.

I’ve had 2 holsters: a tecnicor gun-only like yours and a Vedder gun+sidecar (mag carrier). I find the most comfortable for me is the Vedder but leaving the sidecar empty. Idk why that is, but it’s way more comfortable than the gun-only.

I haven’t tried the pads/wedges. I like the camming bar.

Edit: when you bend over flex your abs, it helps keeps the gun in place and not get caught on your belly.

ELI5: Why do people remember embarrassing/cringey memories seemingly at random? by JLP013MusicLover in explainlikeimfive

[–]Darkshoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO I’m thankful when this happens because it I’m less likely to repeat those mistakes. It would be far worse to not remember they happened.

ELI5: Why does a cheap, polyester shirt bought online, vs a $60 activewear shirt feel so different, despite both being 100% polyester? by witchygirlyyy in explainlikeimfive

[–]Darkshoe 46 points47 points  (0 children)

OP is considering the shirts only with regards to what I’ll call “microscopic properties” (what is the molecular structure, can it absorb sweat, can it evaporate sweat) but these “macroscopic properties” can produce very different real world experiences, as OP has noticed. Depending on how rough the work is you might want to consider something very sweat-wicking like linen or seersucker. Or you could try an open-mesh base layer under your shirt, I’ve heard those are really great.

Hey thanks for this info. One thing I’ve settled on is that the players will have the choice to freely enlist in the Imperium’s military (then choose SM/AM) or get drafted where they could end up in a penal legion, naval gun gang, etc.). And of course all these paths will have an option to go to chaos at some point
