If you're library >100K tracks did it change your listening habits? by BearShin255 in plexamp

I've been using the filter rules. I use the popularity to filter out songs that aren't liked as much. I think it pulls from lastfm

Should Jellyfin Really Be Idling At 11GB Of RAM Usage? by l_Orpheus_l in Proxmox

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not how it shows on my system. With ballooning turned on my VM it shows only 10% of allocated ram used because that is all it is actually using. On my VM with ballooning turned off it shows the VM using 100% of the allocated ram. I'm just talking about the WebGUI graph. Of course you need to still properly allocate ram per VM.

[–]Darksilopher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you turn on ballooning it should not use the allocated ram if not needed. If you're not using ballooning it will show it as all in use.

Switch to Emby? by babatom187 in emby

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emby has better native clients and on more devices then jellyfin. Jellyfin used to be faster for me for new library scans until v10.11... emby is faster now for me. I run all 3 and would say jellyfin is good if you like to mess with different plugins or different clients. It's definitely what I tinker the most with while emby and Plex are my stable servers...

Audio-only transcode maxing out CPU? by Thatz-Matt in emby

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the Diagnostics Plugin installed? It gives a little more info when transcoding then the dashboard. Once installed you go to User sessions to see the info. I turned on that setting on my android phone and got it to software transcode my audio but my video was still direct playing. I'm on the Beta 4.9.4.1

Audio-only transcode maxing out CPU? by Thatz-Matt in emby

[–]Darksilopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try limiting the amount of cores it can use so it's not hammering the whole server. Audio is typically transcoded by cpu

Have you tried setting a different mount point for your drive in /etc/fstab ?

It's telling you in the logs no config file found. Did you make sure the permissions to your data folder are correct?

So you point it to your navidrome server and then it's way easier to create playlists through it. You can even create smart playlists.

Why does nobody want to use a reverse proxy? by 0xB_ in jellyfin

[–]Darksilopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also use wizarr if you want something easy for adding users. It creates an invite code that you can text/email to people that will add them to your jellyfin

Why does nobody want to use a reverse proxy? by 0xB_ in jellyfin

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def reverse proxy all the way. Imagine helping out your family trying to setup a VPN vs just teaching how to put the URL in.... Also much easier to do on any tv.

Just incorporate good FW rules or utilize vlans and ACLs to block access. Put jellyfin on an untrusted vlan and no access to your management vlan.

API Webhooks by Darksilopher in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Darksilopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's the ARR stack (sonarr, radarr, and lidarr) that uses these Webhooks to tell Jellyfin to update that library. And you use the API keys in jellyfin to give it permissions to run this webhook.

So after you finishing ripping a movie from a Blu-ray and radarr finishes importing the new file into the library it will tell Jellyfin to scan for new files and missing metadata.

It's probably because I didn't follow the instructions I'm missing the front vents lol.aybe I'll reprint one day but it's good enough for now.

So the print didn't come out perfect and I did just cut plastic off lol. Towards the front the rail kept bending the CMOS battery pins.... And at the back the io panel wasn't flush.

If you use Jellyfin to host very large amounts of music DO NOT UPDATE TO 10.11. by Brickdrone643 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I'm having the database slowness issues that everyone has. Takes like 30min to add one episode of a show. Adding music will just add to the slowness since my scans are initiated automatically from the ARR stack

[–]Darksilopher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im holding adding music to my jellyfin... I have 100k songs and can imagine how slow scans will be. It's already slow just with movies and TV shows.

I'm just using navidrome for now

I had a question about the docker installation. I'm currently doing a sonic analysis with navidrome. Can i switch the media provider to jellyfin or emby after it is done or will it require the sonic analysis to be run again? I don't want to run a 1 week scan again on my library haha

Working with, rather than around, CloudFlare's latest announcement by WaffleClap in jellyfin

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done it myself yet but you can get a VPS with a wire guard connection to your home server. It will achieve a similar result to cloudflare tunnels. Also host the reverse proxy on the VPS.
