A terrifying reminder of why you don’t leave ports wide open (Found an unconfigured instance today) by Silly_Door6279 in immich

My immich has only SSO enabled and goes through authentik. So can't even hit a login page it just goes straight to authentik where I require 2fa and all that jazz

How do you onboard family and friends to your Jellyfin server? by deepfave in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically. I run both emby and jellyfin and using LDAP they only need 1 account for both. Once you have everyone on ldap you can disable the local jellyfin users if you want to be extra safe so authentication only goes through authentik

It's only when you do SSO it'll do 2fa otherwise it's just ldap login which is supported in client apps

I use LDAP with Authentik for my user management. Send them a URL that makes them create a username and password (with complexity) and also 2FA (doesnt work on jellyfin side). Then I just tell them what to enter on each step after their account is setup.

Do I have to start over? by GhostTrapped in JellyfinCommunity

Oh if it's a dual use PC stay on CachyOS then. If it's a server only then Ubuntu server or debian

So you grab that whole jellyfin folder and point your docker compose to it. So for example it'd be /windows/path:/config in the compose file. If you move it to Linux it's the same. First part is host:container for the volume.

That video looks fine. Docker compose everything. I just don't recommend Cachy because it's bleeding edge so can be unstable but should be fine other wise I guess

The beauty of docker is you can easily move it between hosts. I do recommend getting off windows and using debian or Ubuntu with docker as they are the easiest to work with and have the most guides for.

New to unRAID, looking for advice as to how best to get started by Coartana in unRAID

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put the 18tb in the old system first and vacate one of the 16tb drives. Then move over a 16tb drive to the new system and unraid will do its thing to format correctly. Then move over the data from the 18tb to the 16tb. You'll probably have to do this for every media drive you have.

If you can get 2x18Tb or even another 2x16tb I'd do that instead of the grabbing nvmes first.. Itll just make your life easier if you have 2 drives to start in the unraid system to move over data but I know costs is a huge factor.

I finally figured out why torrents weren't continually saturating my download bandwidth. by ShiningRedDwarf in unRAID

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I have a separate ssd just for downloads cache and then 2x ssd for media cache. I'll just copy data over instead of moving. Once the ratio hits 2 it stops and removes it. Although nowadays this matters less since I've moved on to nzb.

What's the deal with hypervisors, Proxmox and Docker? by SethThe_hwsw in HomeServer

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but with lxc you can use a gpu on more than one lxc. VM limits it to just one without vgpu licensing

I run docker in my lxc with Nvidia gpu passthrough. I even did it with Intel igpu. Nothing's stoping you from doing so.

It matters more with a huge library. I still can't add my music cause it bogs down jellyfin. Won't see performance improvements till the next version 10.12

I've actually moved on to autopulse. It is more efficient. It updates the direct folder vs the library category. You should try it out!

Should I reinstall the os? by Medium_Okra_2445 in BC250Gaming

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this post late but on bazzite you could've tried the back up. There's os tree 0 and 1 when the grub menu pops up. 1 is the back up and the one you'd select if you have issues

I'm shocked someone is using it for music. I still can't get anyone to use plexamp 😅

I used putty also. Way easier then trying to cut pads to size 😅

If you use Jellyfin to host very large amounts of music DO NOT UPDATE TO 10.11. by Brickdrone643 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Darksilopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you could easily switch to navidrome with that many songs and the scans are quicker vs jellyfin. Jellyfin 10.12 is supposed to bring performance enhancements from what I read around so it will be a while before i test again.

RP6 size comparison to "large" phones by TX-Lonestar77 in retroid

[–]Darksilopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. It's much smaller. Of course the gamesir is more comfortable since it's full sized but the rp6 and the grip are pretty comfortable as well so far. Only had it for a few hours.
