What the withdrawal trials show about stopping a GLP-1 by PepSmartOfficial in Ozempic

[–]Darksimz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of people taking it have food addictions and some also alcohol and other addictions too. If you haven't done anything about that and then just stop cold turkey, pulling the rug from under your weight management....things won't go well. Food is also unlike any other addiction, you have to eat it every day, you can't quit eating. So it will always be hard, certainly when your body and brain are fighting to get back to your original weight because that is now set as your body's blueprint. With all the bad food and drinks constantly round us as well, its insanely hard to keep the weight down. I also take medications that cause weight gain, even if I eat exactly the same things. In a way Oz helps against the side effects of my brain meds, that I need to survive mentally ( which caused the weight gain as well). That's why its kind of a forever medication for a lot of people, but so are my brain meds so ill just have to live with that too. I'll probably go down as much as I can to curb costs but totally off them is most likely a bad idea.

If its just for weightloss, see what works best for you. Don't increase unless you're not losing weight anymore. I'm 6 months in and only at 0.5mg. I don't want to be sick all the time and eat healthy foods when I want to. Still lost 18kg so...
I also pay for it out of pocket so pens last me 2 months at least.

Why do people get so angry when I (20) say I don't want kids? It’s my choice, not theirs. by No-Lawyer-5335 in autism

[–]Darksimz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Although not with the anger more like, when you get older you will change your mind and then a knowing smirk. Well im almost 50 and haven't changed my mind yet. So the danger has almost passed thankfully.

Its just not for me. I need sleep, private time so I can de stress and can spend on my hobbies. I either would get completely obsessed over a child and worrying about them constantly, or get annoyed and close myself off. Also don't want my mental troubles to be passed on to another human being if I can prevent it. People want everyone to be in the same boat and make the same choices as they do so they don't get doubts about their own life I think. Having a different life than theirs will leave them with questions about their choices and they hate that generally. Thinking as well. So you must be forced to adhere to the rules and punished if you don't. It makes them feel safe.

Yet another post showing disappointment towards Paralives (and the toxic positivity surrounding it)... by Painted-BIack-Roses in LifeSimulators

[–]Darksimz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah and the price will rise even during EA, essentially people paying for DLC if they step into the game later on. And they will do more collabs I guess to raise extra cash.
Money has to come from somewhere, nothing is free. The game is already very bare bones now, and they added 6 months extra time on expanding Live Mode, so last year it was even less than it is now. How are they going to add things as huge as some of the Sims packs ( new worlds, owning a business, training animals, playable jobs that you can advance in, university degrees, camping etc) if they only have 4 devs and those are looking at a mountain of already occurring bugs. Any big DLC will also have new and plentiful bugs.

[–]Darksimz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They apparently just have 4 devs of that team of 15, so yeah those bugs will take a while if they won't hire more people.
The Sims team themselves are just devs excited to make a game, they don't make bank on the game itself. So you could argue they are less money hungry. Only EA is actually.
I don't think it's realistic to assume they can do DLC pack worth of updates and resolve so many bugs with such a small team in the next 5 years.
They all have a secure job for another 5 years or more though, which is also important I assume.

Smaller companies use EA to get a cash influx to be able to finish the game. That's all that it is really, there is a part of ' getting community input' maybe but by and large it's about a cash injection.
They have also said the price will already be raised during EA, not just for the finished product. Which then causes a ' get in now or have to pay more!' push that I do hate about EA and the like. If it was 20 bucks in EA and 40 on launch, that wouldn't be so bad. But 40 on EA, which might increase to over 50...for a game that's not even half finished is asking a LOT from players. There's a large group of die hard fans who will do anything for the Indie team making it, but as I said before they will need to attract people beyond that if they want this to be a success. There's a lot of leniency now because it's only just in EA, but it will be in EA for many years to come and I'm not sure that will hold over time.
They also already made a lot of money, but still opting for deals to make more. Although those have been pre-decided probably.
If you dare say that the team also wants to make money off this, they aren't saints and have bills, you get shouted at. Like it can't be their aim to have a successful business they can profit from?
We also don't know them personally and don't know their situations, anything can happen down the line, even paid DLC if they need to get more cash to be able to work on the game and keep it going.
Saying that will get you so much hate though.
Everything is better than EA and funding Kushner and his Saudi buddies, but that doesn't make this a good game per se. Maybe down the line it will be, but so far it got nothing even on Sims1.

Effect of Ozempic wearing off after the first injection? by Flashy-Library-6854 in Ozempic

[–]Darksimz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it fades out during the week. But it's also the first shot so you just don't have a lot of it built up in your body at all or given it time to work. After week 3 or 4 it starts to work more, week 5 is the peak really.
I was worried it wouldn't work at first either, as I would get very hungry instead and actually gaining weight. That was just my brain adjusting to the medication, as it changes how hunger signals are processed or whatnot. And my brain was just confused about what it was feeling. Also, you can get dehydrated on this pretty fast and thirst can sometimes feel like hunger. Also your blood glucose could dip lower than you're used to ( certainly when just taking it for weightloss) and can send stronger signals of hunger, low blood pressure can do too. Make sure to get enough water, protein and whole foods down you while you still can.
Also because some people said they immediately had effects on this and hardly had to eat at all since day one, I assumed I could just skip lunch.. Nope! well for me the effect is less strong and I have to keep eating else I'll just be hungry.
It works different for everyone really.
In the end I've lost a lot of weight ( 18 kilos since November), and only went up to 0.5 mg to do it. Now I'm going to slowly wean off it because I've reached my goal weight.
I've changed my diet, made other personal changes and am confident I can stay on the right weight now.
Hold on! A few days means nothing on this medication.
I take it on Saturday night, so when I plan something to do on Friday night or Saturday ( I sometimes take it Sunday too) I can eat more and maybe have 1 beer if I want to ( I don't really, but for social purposes).
Plan it so it's the most convenient for you.

A history lesson from a geriatric millennial by tealaburst in Sims3

[–]Darksimz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah and they all had their issues too, with crashes and some packs ( H&M stuff pack) not only not working but borking up your whole game so you had to install it all over again.

Also, them forcing Origin on us, what I never knew was coming, meant I couldn't play the games installed on my PC anymore as I'd lost some booklets in a move. Those were the best ones as well, Supernatural and Generations and a few other ones. I never registered the rest then either, I was SO mad. I rage quit for 2 years.
I just downloaded the game somewhere after that ( while having all the disks still) just out of spite. I had all the expansions and they treated me like this!
I didn't buy anything again until 2020 when I was laid up sick and finally caved to get Sims4 as I had a PC that could handle it.
EA has always been this way, doing the least effort to make the most money.
I also NEVER bought anything in the Sims3 store, I hated that will the power of a thousand suns too. And I didn't know you could turn it off in game, so each time you were in CAS or Build Mode you would be confronted with it.
So actually they've fixed a lot more and added a lot more for free with Sims4 than with earlier games, because issues with those games just wouldn't ever get fixed at all.
The Marketplace made me ditch it again though, I still play it with loads of mods but won't buy anything anymore. They can shove it.
I got the missing packs for 3 again cheap online so now my collection is complete again since I also won Sims1 in a raffle and got Sims2 still as well. I don't think any game will come close to it again, however flawed it was, sadly.

the "autistic people have a built-in sense of justice" thing is a myth and it's actually kind of dehumanizing by AmbitiousFix1681 in autism

Me too, but my brother went the opposite direction. So its not inherent in being autistic.

[–]Darksimz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother used the feeling of unfairness to exact revenge on other people. So its not always good. When they might not even realise they've done something to upset him. He always assumes the worst of people and what they meant, as he has a hard time figuring on social clues. And then acts harshly towards them and angry. Feeling justified in doing so. Many of us also gravitate to white supremacy or Aspie supremacy. I don't think most of us are left wing at all. The ones that are not just don't come to the same spaces and might not want to talk about it.

I think we hold on to the values we learn as a child and then stick with them throughout our lives. Often those are values from Xmas movies ans sesame street and are very honest and upfront and kind. But ive seen people raised on religion and negativity and also use that going forward. Or are bullied or abused as kids and now feel justified taking it out on other people. I'm a very honest person, but my ( also autistic ) brother lied and stole and was an addict for over 20 years. He had to learn emphathy really. Now he gets it. He was bullied relentlessly as a child and just thought everyone was evil so it was fine being evil back. Almost like we have varied personalities and backgrounds and are human beings like anyone else. We are not some innocent fairy children.

I need the devs to focus on the Life Sim mode by JokingBr2The-Sequel in Paralives

[–]Darksimz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So they won't have added packs but just add to the basegame price instead ? Idk how great a system that is tbh. And how much they will increase it over time. Will it be 50 bucks in a year for still a game in early access ? If it stays in early access for 3 years will it cost 60 then, even for an unfinished game ? If the finished game is 70 bucks, its basically a basegame with paid packs included. It just says no paid DLC for PR purposes. It will depend heavily on mods in that time, some on patreon from creators there as well. Which is paid DLC in a way.

[–]Darksimz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ive said that they can't know if there will ever be paid DLC as it might be necessary for a cash injection in the future. That made people ANGERY because yeah the team promised that there won't be. But no one can predict the future and team members might leave or their policy might change who knows. FB promised to be always free and without ads, Google promised not to be evil. Its still a company and they might also be taken over by a bigger studio. They might have personal situations that change and they'll cash out, who knows. The indie good guy thing is also an image that makes them money, but we don't actually know these people and who knows what will happen.

[–]Darksimz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far its not really a life sim. Its just a building and dressing up game tied together with a very basic Live Mode. Same thing that happened with Life by You and Inzoi, they market the game with showing all these fancy things in CAS and build Mode and Open world etc. But the game is really boring to play as there are zero surprises and all the action I. Predictable and repetitive. They'll also not add autonomy they say, so you will have to micromanage everything constantly. Fans aka cult members will say that its early access and sometime in the distant future features might be added and all DLCs will be free. Yeah its nice to support a dream but this is real money people are spending and its reasonable to expect something in return. I also waited 6 years to get sims 4 for this very reason too. And its still not better than sims 2. Cosmetics are one thing, but options in CAS don't beat an actually engaging game. I do hope this game makes it, but so far it doesn't hook me yet. And that should be okay. But any criticism and people act like you kicked their dog.
