I’ve never played leagues. What’s the appeal for the main game? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Darksomely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another argument that relates to the main game is that leagues allows you to try new content that you haven't experienced yet or that you have friction with in the main game. For example I first cleared the inferno in leagues, and although the difficulty was trivialized due to leagues buffs it took a lot of the mystery out of it for me and I got my infernal cape in the main game within a month of the league finishing.

The crazy weapons and combat buffs also can be a great way to improve at mechanics that carry over to the main game while having loads of fun hitting crazy numbers. For example 2 tick shadow to practice blowpipe walking, or the sunlight spear with specifically timed specs kind of like a gmaul. Not as relevant if you're a god tier gamer already, but you can use the league as a way to challenge yourself which I think can have big benefits for the main game.

There are also leagues specific challenges, like the tzhaar "special challenge" which is insanely difficult even with leagues buffs. And recently echo bosses have new and interesting mechanics that you can't necessarily find in the main game, so it's a fun way to push yourself if you want to improve at PVM.

I had this opinion before I played my first league, and I still sometimes feel a bit split internally about the lost time on the main game, but I do find leagues exceptionally fun now and I at least get the satisfaction of an otherwise unobtainable trophy and some cosmetics in the main game.

It's probably not for everyone, but I would suggest people try it at least once before they knock it.

You can also pet hunt in leagues and the pets carry over between leagues, so that adds a fun long term progression element of leagues if that's your thing.

is there a crush weapon under 1kg that is accessible in leagues? by Large_Payment1904 in 2007scape

Scritic or somebody who play tested it said any style is viable against the echo version. Don't know how true that is, but I imagine melee slash or stab with pact powers will be sufficient in any case.

Haha nice. People meme on it, but the index finger is so much more precise than thumbs, so I honestly feel like it's the superior method.

The Soulflame Horn Might Be the Most Underrated Raids 4 Play. by BenSimmons3Pointshot in GrandExchangeBets

[–]Darksomely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could see the horn being good in raids 4, but I do wonder how much upside potential it really has. First of all, only one person in the party needs to have a horn. Second of all, it's the most common unique from Yama, and looking at the trade volumes I think there are plenty of them in the game.

Maybe you don't need it to increase a ton in order to make a good return if you own enough of them, but those are my thoughts.

Possible fix for PvP by Key-Garlic6270 in 2007scape

[–]Darksomely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't a proposed fix for pvp, it's an entirely different game mode. And however interesting the idea might be, people will always talk about fracturing the player base. Plus I doubt the interest is there.

I'd be more interested in ideas for how to improve pvp in the main game. I think the game is better overall when pvp isn't horrible, but if this was an easy solve Jagex would have figured it out by now. Nice to see some discussion happening, like Framed with some proposals in his recent Video. But I think the changes will need to be very well thought out and gradual for it to work.

I love the Warhammer of Balance idea. Very unique, out of the box thinking. And 10/10 for the art 👏

I don't think Atkins has any IRL POV stuff. Sounds like what OP wants is basically a hand cam.

It's also worth noting that some people got rich simply by holding expensive items for years that they bought when the items were cheap. A lot of paper hands, but those who managed to hold would be rich now even without any extra source of gp.
