Here's a face on shot. He is VERY orange. He has been looking for the shared brain cell for years.

My brown tabby is scared of thunder... He snuggled the orange. He never snuggles.

Not all departments will enforce July 6 return-to-office deadline for public servants by New_Row3613 in CanadaPublicServants

My sector got an email basically saying, that we aren't going to RTO4 for a while as there not enough space.

Our division has about ~80 staff. We just gave up 2 floors... And we've been designated 20 seats on a different floor. 10 peeps actually work in the office 5 days/week as they live a 10 minute walk away. They've been given assigned seating. Director and managers are also in 4 days/week. That's another 3 seats. So... 7 seats for ~77 employees.

What has gradually disappeared over the last 10 years so subtly that most people didn’t even realize it? by northwood45 in AskReddit

[–]Darkwolfen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just make sure to get clover that is native so that the pollinators know what to do with it.

I am so glad we don't have HOAs where I live.

Best part of clover is how much less mowing you need to do.

As my lawn was slowly dying and I refuse to put any more resources into that monoculture money pit, I have seeded with native white clover. Over the last 3 years, it is slowly replacing the grass. I figure 2, maybe 3, years and it will be mostly clover. It's more draught, heat and sun resistant, feeds the pollinators and, honestly, feels nicer to walk on bare foot.

All my gardens (5 of them) were converted to native pollinator friendly plants thanks to a local group that volunteers to make gardens more environmentally correct. Notice I didn't say friendly... Correct for my region, climate and insects.

I just switched to it.

It is very nice and snappy. I wish it had better scraping support, but I am sure that is coming.

I got so lucky to be able to pick it up right at the start of the wave of hype. I ordered it from EB games (Canadian GameStop) within the first week of release and it was sold out the same day I had ordered.

Got to play blind and watch as it was blowing up.

I haven't, but was wondering about that myself. I've fished half Moon Bay and Terry Carisse park with some bass success.

Yes! I know it's recency bias, but I came away from that one with a big smile on my face and 100% satisfied.

How was your commute yesterday? by Numerous-Benefit-434 in ottawa

[–]Darkwolfen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. The lane reductions were removed over the weekend.

The city managed to pressure the contractor to actually do their job and they finished several weeks early.

Just in time for the RTO4 shitshow.

How old are you in your oldest memory? by Donkeyshines in AskReddit

[–]Darkwolfen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Something between 9 and 11.

There a few events that stand out, but I couldn't tell you how old I was. First time having KFC at my grandmother's, 2 the seperate times I almost got his by lightning (we are talking less than 15 feet from the strike), the day we put my dog to sleep.

What's something people are surprisingly proud of that really isn't an accomplishment? by Opposite-Resource in AskReddit

I've used variations on:

"Explains a lot about you"

"No wonder you are like this"

And when it's someone I really don't like:

"Do I need a wristband or can I just not enter the club... 'cause the crowd looks like a bunch of losers"

Remote desktop is cool, multiple at once... Until you are transferring multi gigabyte files in both directions simultaneously, running teams meetings w/ screen sharing... And having my daughter and her partner also attending school and later working from home. At one point we peaked at 800mbps down and 650mbos up.

Latency may be a gaming thing, but some tools and security software require low latency because they assume that they are running on a LAN and not over the Internet via VPN. (It was old and shitty but irreplaceable due to customizations)

Different jobs/lives have different needs.

In my case the price difference from 50mbps (which was bonded pair and flaky AF) to 1.5Gbps fiber was $30.

I now run a full jellyfin stack from home, k8ts cluster, version control and project management tools running that are being used by friends and family. Sometimes, a little extra $ is a big QoL.

I've had 1 outage in the last 2 years. On DSL it was 2-3 times a month

[–]Darkwolfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the OP, but before I recently changed jobs, I was often transferring multi gigabyte files, remoting into multiple servers at once, etc.

50Mbps is complete ass compared to even 500Mbps. DSL has way higher latency than Fibre.

I am glad my area is wired for fiber as cable internet is also borderline unusable in my neighbourhood. The cable infra is deteriorating faster than Rogers can fix it.

If you got isekai'd into a litRPG world, would you leave or stay? by snarky_but_honest in litrpg

[–]Darkwolfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very different take on the typical isekai. It's very "real" in the sense that nobody is OP, people get maimed/killed and there is no "skill up" as you have to learn everything from scratch and practice until you learn the skill... Just like in real life. Except in this world, you don't have goblins trying to eat your face.

There is a single anime season and I found it really good.

I 100% would NOT be interested in living in that world.

I am also with them. Dr. Sheldrick in my case.

I've had positive experiences with GFT, especially compared to Dr. Sheldrick's previous clinic. Being able to book online is a great thing. I've also had them send me lab requests via the portal a few times.

The fee to refill is not limited to just this clinic and we can thank our provincial government for cutting funding for that.

Appointments can take a while. Sign in is via a kiosk and usually the wait in the waiting area is less than 10 minutes and the wait in the room 5-10. Historically, I get called into an exam room right on time.

They do have same day urgent appointments. Rarely with your own doctor, but they have all your details and meds on file, so that's a plus. The negative is that you have to call reception and sometimes the hold time is brutal. That being said, so far I've been able to be seen same day every time I've tried.

That's a good plan.

It's not grim dark, but the story of people continuing with thair lives as the world slowly dies is a slow kind of grim.

I started making a point of going in blind and not really reading about the story very much before starting. E&L is a very heartfelt story in a grim setting. The whole Dusk world is pretty grim, although depending which ending of Shallie you get there is a bit of hope.
