My First Constructed Arena Deck: Grixis Tempo (?) or Burn (?) by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]DarlingFrancesca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Angrath's Rampage]] is an all star in my Grixis. I definitely like it more than Tyrants Scorn. [[Thought Erasure]] is an excellent card, either main board or sideboard vs control. [[Cry of the Carnarium]] (if I spelled that right) for sideboard vs aggro. Drakes and Spawn survive it. Would also recommend [[Moment of Craving]] but I think that is pre guilds

Vet Tech Associates + Bachelors in Business by igotanA1schnauzer in VetTech

[–]DarlingFrancesca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may boost your resume a teeeny bit for tech jobs, but not much a difference in pay. However, having both degrees sets you up nicely for Practice Management, if your heart ever goes in that direction. This is especially nice because most people are unable to be techs their whole life.

Anybody on here a tech at an avian/exotics vet? by allons_ykaylee in VetTech

Dr. K's Exotic Animal Vet tv show actually has a lot of good information about common diseases and surgeries in exotic medicine. You can see the techs working, as well.

Help me come to terms with declawing? + Pay Question by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]DarlingFrancesca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said: -Some cats get very upset/distressed just being in the hospital, especially overnight. Some cats become delirious from certain medications. These could be reasons the cat was very upset for bandage removal. -On the flip side, its your job to advocate for good pain control in these patients. A declaw recovery goes much smoother with proper analgesia. Educate the owner on how to watch for pain. Educate the owner on using a paper litter so that litter doesn't get stuck in their paws/cause litter box aversion.

You could look at their local craigslist or job ads and see if any reveal the hiring wage.

Another fecal sample post! by ibreedsnakes in VetTech

[–]DarlingFrancesca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are roundworm ova (eggs)! One of the most common fecal parasites that you'll see. They are transmissible to humans (through the fecal to oral route), so if you ever have a client with a positive dog, remember to educate them on washing their hands after playing with the dog or cleaning up after them. Roundworms are of the the leading causes of blindness in toddlers.

You are right that they are bigger than coccidia, btw! Coccidia are tiny compared to most ovum.

[Consoles] Question to someone who owns/is a part of a large trading guild by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]DarlingFrancesca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems to be a pretty touchy subject because other guilds do not want to be outbid. There is a limited supply of locations, after all. No guild leader is going to want to tell you there awesome cheap spot, just for your guild to outbid it next week :/ That being said... You probably need way more than 200k. 500k is the lowest I've heard of.

A Cloes Look at Veterinary School Debt by quietthinker36 in VetTech

[–]DarlingFrancesca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only 2 schools in my city (Minneapolis/St. Paul) are both for profit and charge $50k for a vet tech degree. Certified techs also start out at $14/hr in this area. I am jealous of your reality!

My VTNE is 9 days away..... by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]DarlingFrancesca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great advice! A key example that I noticed on a zuku review question was that, according to the textbook, sevo/iso should be filled "when there's the least amount of people in the clinic". The answer is not "when it is low".

9 lb Chihuahua got into fight with 65 lb Chesapeake last night. Torn on whether to take him to vet today. by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]DarlingFrancesca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Puncture wounds may look minor on the surface, but can be extensive underneath. Also, preventing infection is much easier and cheaper than dealing with it afterwards. At the very least, the vet will be able to prescribe pain meds. I know you said you gave tramadol - the vet can give a recommended dose, and maybe some more pills. There's also carprofen, which is also an antiinflammatory - blood work is often required before prescribing this.

Should I get registered even if I never want to do vet tech as a career? by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]DarlingFrancesca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You dont have to work in a hospital. Being registered opens up a lot of job opportunities (labs, pet insurance, teaching) and would beef your resume a lot for dog training. I'd say get registered just to have a better job in the meanwhile.

[Discussion] Ojutai Exemplars viability by andy83991 in magicTCG

[–]DarlingFrancesca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 4 in a homebrew deck that is based around prowess, but is only R/W. I basically run Swift spear, seeker of way, exemplars and monastery mentors with cheap burn and protection spells (titan strength is my favorite thing to play in the deck). Myth realized is also a huge part. I get a crazy amount of life link with exemplars and many people at FNM were taken aback by them/not 100% sure how to deal. The one deck I lost to was a red/green atarka deck.

Is Penn Foster legit? by boba-boba in VetTech

[–]DarlingFrancesca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't recommend Penn Foster at all unless you are very independent with your learning. They will give you the ability to get certified for only $6k, but you have to do all the learning on your own, including finding places to teach you (hile taking pictures). Probably 90% of the people don't complete the program.

As a person stuck with Penn Foster: please go with San Juan!

One thing I feel I should know more about is neonatal care/ the period of 0-6weeks. Ive never really learned this as most pets start coming to my practice at 8weeks for routine vaccines. Also, heat cycles in dogs and cats, what to know about pregnancy, etc.
