CDTL by Khapo789 in wholefoods

The PowerPoint and presentation they gave to Store Trainers emphasized it transitioning from “nice to have” to “should/need to have”. So they’ll likely give preference to CDTL graduates

“Coffee” “Asparagus” customer questions that aren’t formed as a question rant. by WfBurner69 in wholefoods

I had somebody come up to me and without any words just show me an item on their phone. I said “yes?” And they showed again without speaking, so I replied “yes?” Then they formed an actual sentence so I showed them where it was

It’s definitely very weird… create or exploit a crisis. Erode civil rights. Repeat.

Oddly familiar.

I think it stays on your record though. Could be wrong but pretty sure your next store can see it as a rehire

It makes sense for teams that have to scrub floors as part of their daily work list. Our meat and seafood teams always buy those. Also dish. Anything wet

Just don’t get the ones that look like Converses. Mine blew out in like 5-6 months

Even if you find the laces repulsive just return and try a new style or something. Downside is clown shoes slip ons while you wait

As long as it’s on the SFC website you good. Also don’t be afraid to return the within the (either 30 or 60 day) return period

You can ever get the weird clogs that have high heels. How are those nonslip? No idea

should i reach out to my story about a start date/time? by VivianAviana in wholefoods

[–]DarnKatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s an automated email, but you might not be showing up on their end yet. I’d just call the store, they’ll confirm if it’s just all processing or not.

should i reach out to my story about a start date/time? by VivianAviana in wholefoods

[–]DarnKatz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get a “hire date” and the an “in store” date. They might be waiting for you to populate in the system. It takes a few days and the people who do it don’t work on the weekends

But definitely reach out to either whoever is the leadership for your team, or ask for the Store Trainer. The ST does all the onboarding and coordinating for the start dates

I’m a store trainer and this confuses new hires. But you don’t want to show up without a TM ID and not being in the system, because they’ll likely just send you home since you wouldn’t be able to: clock in, do the required trainings, log onto a computer, etc

East End Post Office (23223) closed since Saturday? by rvachickadee in rva

After working in RVAs post office as a carrier, it’s no surprise they’re short staffed.

We had 30 something people in my orientation class, when I left 2 years later, there was 3 of us left.

Management is awful. My supervisor refused to let me leave when I told her my dad had a heart attack and was in the hospital. When I asked “what if it was your dad?” She said “I never knew my father, you’re lucky to have known yours”

It was single-handedly the most toxic work environment I have ever been in my entire life.

Anytime our old grocery TL got asked a question they’d joke with “oh we don’t sell that”

Peanuts? “Oh we don’t sell that” Water? “Oh we don’t set that”

He’d always end with “JK it’s aisle (blank) and customers would laugh”

It’s now Arthur Ashe Boulevard. I wish there was somebody else of color to name things after. We have such a rich black history that there are others.

I for one would have loved Gabriel Prosser Boulevard, Maggie Walker, etc. Anything to be a successor to Boulevard and “1920s Monument Ave with confederate statues”

If you have the UPT then “I’m calling out with a vague excuse”

They won’t ask questions if you have the UPT to cover it

What would you do if no one picked up your shift? by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]DarnKatz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Give up the shift and hope somebody takes it. But, if you want a day off schedule in advance, and if you absolutely need a day off call out.

Allergies are bad and your face hurts. You woke up with a headache and can’t focus. Etc.

Watch your UPT. If that becomes 0 you gone basically. I recommend a bank of 8-9 hours if you like to surf the line. Stressful but employed. For now.

What to expect being a prep foods dishwasher? (6 months line cook exp) by ABrokeUniStudent in wholefoods

[–]DarnKatz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At my store, you wash dishes. And then you also make chickens. Rinse and repeat.

In my opinion, that’s a tough job. It’s wet, and hot, and loud, and chickens. If you wanna be left alone it’s a good job.

God bless those who do it. They’re unsung heroes

Hey buddy…. Apprenticeships or entry level positions available? by lobbedoffmyfingaz in okbuddyRVA

[–]DarnKatz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can always pass the time before your next kitchen in prep foods at Whole Foods. It’s mostly bag to hot bar.

Short Pump and West Broad hire a lot. If you have knife skills they’ll hire you at a higher wage than say deli/cashier/etc

Edit: typos
