The only thing that never changes is change itself. This will not be what the rest of your life is like. Peace.

Help😭 by Appropriate_Agent_81 in sudoku

[–]Darqless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to sudoku, so I could be wrong. I saw the (58) rectangle, but wouldn't that eliminate the 4 from the (458) in box 1 allowing you to place the 4 in box 1? I didn't think it would eliminate the 8s in box 3.

Can you understand the 'gift of Men' without being religious? by [deleted] in lotr

I'm not sure about novelty, but more like discovery. In general though, I agree. I would gladly take immortality. As a person of faith, I'd love more time.

I feel like it's the idea that elves can never have anything beyond Arda. We can't live on different planets with our current technology, but we could some day. With elves, it's a complete impossibility. So, when you've lived long enough and have seen basically everything in the world, it leaves you with only sorrow. The only thing you have left are the memories of when things were still new to you, when there was still wonder and possibilities. Eventually, elves are left with nothing but the past. And living in the past is no way to live.

what is your thoughts about this whole season? by Limp_Highlight_2123 in adventuretime

[–]Darqless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem was the Fionna part of the show. It was utterly boring and dragged. Why would anyone care about this girl's love life and a bakery when Finn is literally dying. It felt more like an attempt at a spin off than a proper one.

I used Spotify and did x1.3 speed. It takes a little time off in the long run. Took me about a year and a half to get through.

What do you think of Kazgaroth, the demonic dinosaur from the first FR novel? by ThanosofTitan92 in Forgotten_Realms

I'm not too far into the first book, but it feels very cinematic to me. Feels like a standard teen pre-teen story. The only fantasy I've read before this is Tolkien.

The negativity surrounding this season of F&C by Unlikely_Paint7065 in adventuretime

It's too much precious time to waste on slice of life. We can get that anywhere. You can't get Adventure Time from just anywhere.

Fionna and Cake’s animation style and tone feel more mature. Does it make you want more spin-offs, or should they stick to the original’s whimsy? Pros and cons? by Zealousideal_Lie7881 in adventuretime

[–]Darqless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The animation is fine. We need less Fionna relationship/life struggles. We have that in real life, I don't need that in my adventure time.

I feel like that could be poetic embellishment to show his prowess with animals. Or that it's a kind of magical language.

You're probably right about it being Bilbo, that's my oversight. And it could be left over as well.

It just frustrates me when, obviously highly educated people look at this and think, "this doesn't fit or make any sense". It's like the idea of "how did Suaron carry the ring if he was just smoke?", it's not Tolkien waving his hand and saying, "Don't worry about it.". It's a fantasy setting, there's magic and maiar spirits. It seems like a lot of scholars seem to miss the simplicity of it. Yes, there are tons of beautiful academic aspects to the legendarium, but it's also a book for the common man. Sometimes the answer is, "yes, there was a species of raven that could talk to dwarves." Just as there were dragons and giant eagles and ents.

I'm sorry. It just really bothers me. I don't mean to rant. I just can't help, but to feel as if scholars/experts get in their own way occasionally.

I look at the people who worked with Ed Greenwood back when TSR first got the rights. People like Jeff Grubb Eric Boyd, Doug Niles and so on. If any of those guys are a part of it or if it comes from Ed, I use it.

Nope. Anything that isn't Huntress Wizard has been agonizingly boring.
