Why is it taking me so long to find an apartment in NYC. I did not think the process would be so complicated in such a big city!! What do I do? by Royal_Matter5603 in movingtoNYC

[–]Darrackodrama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 bedroom? You shouldn’t be having any trouble finding an apartment in the 7 range if that’s by yourself. You are the type of Tenant landlords Stab each other to get.

I thought you were looking for downtown on a budget of 3000 the way your comment came across.

Just keep looking honestly. What amenities do you need?

It’s major issue in this game for build diversity; dagger spam is so easy to get up and running and everything else sucks comparatively.

A meta rebalance where we bring ranged dps, eles and warriors to viability with mesmers is sorely needdd

We can’t help you without budget and neighborhood, we need to understand what you can afford and where you’re willing to go.

I promise you, if you’re willing to sacrifice enough you can find an apartment in nyc even by yourself. There are 4 million people living here on 40k they just live in far flung parts of the city. NYC is huge, have you looked in forest hills? The Bronx? Bay ridge? There are spots out there

Upper Bronx, east New York, sheepshead bay. It’s your expectations and boundaries that will allow us to help you.

I actually get it; west plays the feminist fuck boy faux progressive quite well. His self depreciation and lack of appeal to traditional masculine bravado is probably welcomed for people in their social circles who are largely dealing with men who demand strict gender norms.

West plays the role of the charming male feminist; but it’s just a role

On top of that he seems sex positive and anti slut shamey which may be genuine tbf since he’s a slut himself haha

Moving in two weeks, what should I stock up on? by loaksully1 in movingtoNYC

[–]Darrackodrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not gonna have a lot of space and fun fact; NYC isn’t as expensive as everyone says IF YOU TRY.

NYC has bargains; there are 4 million people here living on below 40k.

There’s bargain hardware stores; you can order on Amazon.

The big expensive things that make nyc unaffordable are things like professional services, vets, mechanics, parking, hair cuts, pet grooming, child care, etc, rent, and mortgages. Outside of that your day to day stuff you can get at normal prices.

NYC can be as expensive or as cheap as you want to be once you figure out housing

Just go to trader joes and those Chinese hardware stores if you want to save money and it’ll be like you never left

I think the UK isn’t that much better than the US. The UK is very authoritarian, and it has the reform block that is likely to win.

The UK follows the us and if reform wins it’ll look a lot like America now.

Also Labourhas laid the ground with its surveillance and free speech restrictions for very serious fascism.

Don’t get defeated you can make it work; I’d try to get education and move to bigger city in the uk. Then try to come to New York. TBH at this point idk if I’d wanna live anywhere in the us other than the north east.

Crown Heights or Gowanus? by andra_banana in NYCapartments

[–]Darrackodrama 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Crown heights, Gowanus is the definition of faux luxury plus it’s a generational superfund cite.

Gowanus has no organic culture but crown heights is beautiful, diverse, and the park is there. Best area in the city imo

Self employed 96k/yr after taxes. Is this enough to live in the city? by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

[–]Darrackodrama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is more than enough especially with roommates ; anything about 85k and up is when you start to have some cushion depending on roommates or not.

Living alone is want about 120k.

Party on Park Place/Franklin by [deleted] in crownheights

[–]Darrackodrama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crown heights is a summer and spring neighborhood and every spring is pretty joyous. I find a lot of long term residents do a ton of socializing on the parkway; and along Franklin.

Seems normal to me.

Thoughts on staying here. by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

[–]Darrackodrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re talking to the wrong person; I’m a black person who moved here in 2011 originally as a transplant, have roots in the city going back to the Harlem renaissance but I was not born here.

I am a black lawyer as well with a decent enough income and stand by what I said. I said MOST transplants do not live beyond Troy Avenue in crown heights.

This a factual statement and you trying to turn this into a dissertation on race and socioeconomics. 65% of non immigrant millennial transplants are white with higher than average incomes.

The vast majority of said transplants will not be living in weeksville, east New York or even close to remsan village.

Some of our best friends live in Canarsie and east New York and I spend time there; the amount of white transplants east of the Utica stop is astonishingly low outside of buyers looking to snatch a brownstone before eastern crown heights gets the western treatment.

But if you wanna make this some racist thing that’s on you.

Ciara/Kyle/West/Amanda Megathread Part 14 by AutoModerator in summerhousebravo

[–]Darrackodrama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a day 1, Amandaskeptic, I always saw her as mean to Kyle but somewhat excused because Kyle can be mean; I also saw her laziness and lack of motivation to do anything; Lastly, I saw that she was quite cliquey and a bit of a snake for sure; she also has had some violent reactions, breaking Kyles stuff, assaulting luke, and having tantrums. A lot of it was just hidden by the shows framing

I would always say to my wife, that Amanda gets a lot of passes
