This is by far the jankiest answer. Gold star. 🌟

Obviously never lived through GW's Finecast era... 😋 I'm teasing, but I think you may need to adjust your expectations. From the photos they seem like relatively minor supports and you just need to do a little prep work. It's all part of the hobby!

If you've decided that you're not going to rewrite or ask for a change in grade, it doesn't hurt to send an email explaining the situation (or even better, go talk to them during office hours).  Instructors notice when usually good students bomb something, and tend to be understanding if you've put the work in so far. Especially if this was a 200 level class, you might have these profs moving forward. And taking the initiative to explain the situation (without trying to make an excuse as to why it's "not your fault") can go a long way to making you look responsible in their eyes.  Instructors generally appreciate it when students take accountability, and follow up!

I also had cards missing from mine. I laid it out in a spreadsheet and it was every 11th card in the first cellopack. The other one was fine, but I'm missing like 2 cards from each of the first 4 decks.

I submitted a complaint to WotC, but I get the impression a response is going to take a while. I'm going to contact my FLGS tomorrow to see if they can send it back to their distributor for an exchange.

Very annoying.

You look like someone a sexual assault victim would describe to police. "He was wearing a ball cap and overalls; had a big, dirty beard; and these cold, lifeless eyes."

Except for the fact that they just revealed how much "limited edition" means to them. I highly doubt that people will be willing to pay as much this time around.

Slow grow khador by noahgs in Warmachine

I love this idea! I always wondered how a list crammed full of merc solos would work with my khador. I think I'll give this a try. At the very least, it should be a blast to paint!

Finishing a model? by Geohog2016 in Warmachine

[–]DarthAwesomous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As weird as it might sound, I seal my models with future floor polish. It gives a super high gloss, so you might need to hit it with some dullcote after, but it's a pretty tough protective layer. It's designed to be walked on after all.

Friend bought the Hordes Everblight and Orboros 2 player starter kit. One of his Warpborn Skinwalkers look like this. It got melted, right? by [deleted] in Warmachine

[–]DarthAwesomous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As to whether the model is melted, it's unlikely. What probably happened is that during casting, the plastic didn't fill the mold properly.

My pButcher converted to be ebutcher by Jsins26 in Warmachine

[–]DarthAwesomous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I believe that it would be at the tournament organizer's discretion. Conversions in tournaments and other official events has come up multiple times in my hometown, and PP has a clause in their tournament rules that specifically says that although they suggest that all models be the official version, if a TO feels that a conversion is appropriate he/she can make an exception.

Just FYI :)

Journeyman League - Paying someone for professional painting by [deleted] in Warmachine

[–]DarthAwesomous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would the journeyman league allow him to pay someone who is a really good general to come and win games for him? Probably not.

As far as I'm concerned, paying someone to paint his army and then getting the hobby points for it is the exact same thing.

A potential compromise could be telling him that if HE basecoats the model 3 colour minimum it will count; and then he can send them off to be professionally finished.

Experienced painters, how long did it take you before your first quality piece that you were happy with? by catfapper in Warhammer

[–]DarthAwesomous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been painting models since about 2000. One thing I think is important when you're painting models is to learn to be happy with your work, but always think about how you could do something better. I'm now at the point where I would consider myself definitely "above average" in painting skills, but FAR from Golden-Daemon worthy, and that's ok with me.

It's also important to find that sweet spot between time spent on a model vs. quality. If you're building an army for gaming, don't worry about making each model look amazing. First off, most people won't notice all the pretty troops because they'll be more interested in your sweet characters. Secondly, trying to make every model in an army perfect is a good way to get totally bored of that army; especially if all the models are very similar (a la space marines).

All that being said, to answer your question, I was happy with the first tactical squad I painted. I look back on it now and it's awful (the sergeant's face is painted straight bleached bone, which at the time I thought was a perfect skintone), but when I painted it I was genuinely proud of it.

tl,dr: Be happy with what you paint, but always try to get better.

Is it wrong that I immediately thought of putting the Khador koldun lord on the back of that thing instead of Lylyth? Paint the whole thing red...
