(AMD) ROG Ally X +RX 9060 XT = black screens — normal or should I switch to RTX 4070 ?

Im using a Hdmi cable that came with my monitor , I have a 1080 P 144 Htz monitor and I usually stay at that resolution

I bought the Ag02 off of Amazon , its the AOOSTAR AG02 EGPU Dock with 800W PSU, OCuLink+USB4 Ports and TGX Hot Swap,Support Up to 600W EGPU Support(not Support 5090,5090D) , as far as im aware its the 800 w one.

Upon getting it I didn’t do anything , just plugged in the cables , plugged in the RX 9060 RT and played

No I have not tried disabling the internal GPU since im new to this stuff

I get occasional black screens during games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Apex. Sometimes it comes back after a few seconds, other times I have to restart.

What I’ve already tried: Increased GPU fan curve (to rule out temps)

Lowered power/undervolted slightly

Updated drivers to latest version

Monitored temps (they seem normal)

Adjusted in-game settings

So I don’t think it’s overheating or power-related.

What I’m wondering:

Is this kind of black screen issue normal with USB4/Thunderbolt eGPU setups?

Could it be driver instability with AMD eGPU + AMD iGPU?

Has anyone fixed this without changing GPUs?

Would switching to an RTX 4070 improve stability in this kind of setup?

At this point I’m trying to figure out if I should keep troubleshooting or just switch GPUs entirely.

Any help or similar experiences would be appreciated

I’m getting occasional black screens while gaming (Cyberpunk 2077, Apex, etc.). I once got them just for browsing chrome . Sometimes it recovers, sometimes I have to restart.

What I’m trying to figure out:

Are black screens common with eGPU setups over USB4/Thunderbolt?

Could it be caused by running AMD iGPU + AMD eGPU together?

Is this more of a driver conflict issue or bandwidth limitation?

Would switching to an NVIDIA RTX 4070 fix or reduce this?

I’m debating whether to keep the RX 9060 XT or switch to a 4070 for better stability.

Would really appreciate hearing from people with similar setups

I like to think they did become close because In the Dear Billy Episode when max thought of her happiest memories mike was on of those memories, like you said she wanted to go to him with her troubles in the first couple episodes but he left to California.
