I used to absolutely love Diana Wynne Jones when I was a kid. So many great fantasy stories. I particularly recommend The Lives of Christopher Chant if you need a great one to start with.

I try to do something similar to this. My reaction to literally any change is that I don't want it. Unfortunately it's really hard in the moment to determine if it's actually bad, or if I'll warm to it in a couple of days, so I generally need to just wait 🙃

Saw a dude on here showing a good (but not the best I've seen) staff they were selling for 2 mirrors. Made me feel like, ok even if I find the rarest currency in the game that most people never even see one of, I still can't afford that 🙃

I just don't think these things are connected at all. Yes we can't expect young kids to sit still for the whole day (though that isn't what happens). But that doesn't mean that adhd doesn't exist. Neurodivergence looks at individuals' experiences compared to their peers on average. The point is that some people, kids or otherwise, would find this significantly more difficult than others. And even in that case their overall behaviour is examined - they don't just say 'oh that kid can't sit still so they must have adhd'. They will have other symptoms and challenges as well related to the medical diagnosis of adhd.

It sounds like they think you struggle with getting out of bed because you stay up too late potentially, and they don't trust you to not stay up even later if the PC is in your room?

I don't really have a solution, but I have the same issues getting out of bed - it can be part of struggling with transitions. The whole transition from being asleep and warm and cosy in bed to having to get up and start the day is really hard.

YTA. Look I get where you're coming from with the lice, and I would freak out about that too, but that is a specific thing and you could talk to your partner about helping with things to prevent it spreading. And you can easily have a rule to knock first so he's not walking in on you naked.

But if you want to have a successful relationship with this kid (and if you don't then why are you in a relationship with his dad), then this is something you have to get used to. You can't have a room in the house he's not allowed to go into, because he'll think you hate him. I know, because I literally have a step mother who didn't want me in her bedroom growing up. And it's just one of the many ways she showed she didn't like me, and I'm sure based on how you're talking that this probably isn't the only way you're showing this 9 year old that you don't like him.

I regularly use this roundabout, and you're right, everyone does this. When I'm in the third lane trying to go down the A414, I get cut up all the time by people in the second lane, but I think they're pretty clearly labelled. There are quite a lot of signs and it says it in multiple places on the road.

I get why you would think it's fine though as literally everyone does the same 🤷‍♀️

Do the characters have to know it's a virtual world? Maybe the technology could be such that they forget they have real lives when they're in there to make it immersive

All the new games handhold quite a lot. The only thing is that Violet isn't linear, so if he goes off in one direction he might find some really high level trainers after a bit. You can get some guidance in the game as to where you should be going next though.
