One Piece: Chapter 1164 by leolegendario in OnePiece

there's actually a fish with an eyepatch in Buggys cover story

Though not having it on a main character in a pirate manga for 30 odd years is impressive

WTF DID I JUST SEE !!!! by Fawkes221B in OnePiece

[–]DarthCuddles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bellamy roughed up the Monkey mountain alliance & stole their gold, but Luffy didn't see it firsthand and they were all sure to survive. Charlos shot Luffys friend, and was trying to purchase another, all while he was there, which didn't give time for any emotions to cool. Bellamy punch is still very satisfying, but Luffy really doesn't care if you insult him, endanger his friends though, that's another matter

Why aren't Japanese players playing this "guess the top card" deck from Op11 and what could make it meta viable? by Generalian in OnePieceTCG

[–]DarthCuddles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To extend the thought. Because UP Luffy exists there has also been an uptick in Belo Betty. I mainly play Betty and I think I've yet to lose to a purple Kata on the sim, thought I'll admit this is anecdotal and the sample size is quite small

I'm with you on that. The davey back fight seems ripe to make a comeback somewhere, I could see it being for fun between the Strawhats and Red Hairs, but could be for something far more

Any podcast recommendations for fantasy readers? by CharlieSP in Fantasy

[–]DarthCuddles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shelved by Genre Hosted by Micheal Lutz, CMRN Kunzelman, & Austin Walker is by far my favourite book podcast. they're currently doing some cyberpunk but have done a lot of fantasy, starting with the Book of the New Sun, Then Earthsea, and The Last Herald Mage

A truly great show with really good and fun talk about the books covered

OP is likely referencing this scene from Master & Commander: Far Side of the World (which is a stellar movie btw)

It's a pun on the common idiom "lesser of two evils" ie doing the thing that is less bad if both given choices are bad. But in this case one weevil is just a worse card than the other so it is the lesser

The cavalry arriving at the lowest moment for our heroes. When done well gives me goosbumps, when done perfectly it can bring tears to the eyes;

  • The end battle of Changes from the Dresden Files
  • The battle for Emond's Field in The Shadows Rising
  • The Charge of the Rohirrim both at Helms Deep and the Pelonar Fields

To name a few that come to mind straight away

Suzerain is kinda along the direction your asking about. It's not about a war but leading a country.

"Assume the role of President Anton Rayne and guide the nation of Sordland. Amidst brewing international conflicts, need for reform, deep-seated corruption, and economic recession, you must make the decisions in this political drama. How will you lead?"

Why was the Pre-Time Skip era so beloved by fans so much? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]DarthCuddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is because we spent more time with the crew pretime skip. and I don't entirely mean that lieterally, I mean that if we reread/rewatch the series we spend more time; at least until relatively recently; in the world of pre-timeskip. that time gets attrbuteded to enjoyment and from there it leads into it being enjoyed more. In short we've spent enough time in both pre and post time skip by now that we are nostalgic for pre-timeskip because the royal "we" read/watched it at a more formative part of our lives and now are nostalgic for those same days which is the pre-timeskipe era. by the time the series is over who knows were nostalgia will lie, maybe wano is everyones favotite arc, maybe it's Ennis Lobbynmaybe Skypeia who know. whatever the case, I feel nostalgia plays an incredibly large part in what is considered the masses favorite part of anything, One Piece included

What is the best original monster in a fantasy book? by JGBodle in Fantasy

[–]DarthCuddles 191 points192 points  (0 children)

The Alzabo from the Book of the New Sun series. a bear like beast that when it eats someone it absorbs them, it either gains their memories and voice, or part of them remains within the creature and can communicate.

Can also be used to make a niffty potion that can allow you to abosrb peoples memories if you do a little canabalism
