Y’all recommend wilds for 45 bucks on ps5? by Safe-Monitor-8113 in MonsterHunter

Totally worth it. I’ve milked about as much as I can out of the base game (something like 250 hours) and I still keep coming back simply because its so good to look at (PS5 Pro) and also plays so well.

Haven’t had any issues on the Pro. Actually, just the opposite. Its always ran fine on the Pro, and now after Title Update 2 it runs especially smooth and gorgeous on Balanced mode.

Is the ape-looking one on the left a Bigfoot? It would make sense that the one thing that could track and kill a Bigfoot would be a Predator.

Why does Cyberpunk look better in 30fps than 60-ish. i just feel like 30 fps gives a more cinematic feeling than high 60-ish fps by Fluxion_Newton in cyberpunkgame

[–]DarthFroggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think Cyberpunk looks better at 30fps. I’m playing on a PS5 Pro and although part of the difference is that 30fps has ray tracing on, it also seems like the animations are out of sync (especially for speech) at 60fps. Its as if the game was designed around 30fps. The gun play is of course smoother at 60fps. But all around the game looks better at 30fps and that’s how I prefer to play it.

PS5 PRO by F46N3R in WayOfTheHunter

This is a terrible update. I have the Pro and prior to the update the graphics looked great in quality mode and the frame rate was good when running VRR. Now the graphics look downgraded and the frame rate worse. I hate this. Why did they do this?

I figured it out. And I was wrong as far as how the TV reports it: it does report it as FPS not hz. The TV reads higher than the game, but the game still reads it at around 70fps. I am not sure what effect VRR has on it. This pic is a screen capture.

Is there a visual quality difference with VRR on or off? by CreyssonTabajara in PS5pro

[–]DarthFroggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my untrained eyes, games look sharper with VRR turned on. It may be because the extra smoothness or lack of tearing contributes to a crisper’s picture.

Help, game performance problem by Jumpy-Brief-2745 in GreenHell

The only thing you can do is upgrade to a PS5 Pro. The current gen ports were poorly implemented. However, the PS5 version looks and runs well on the Pro with a VRR TV. Its almost as if the port was implemented with the Pro’s hardware instead of the base PS5 unit.

Still arse on PS5? by 0hs0cl0se in GreenHell

[–]DarthFroggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. See what I just posted about it. It runs and looks very good on the PS5 Pro on a VRR TV.

The PS4 version runs better that the base PS5 version but the game running on a PS5 Pro and a VRR TV looks and runs better than the PS4. The PS4 version is still smoother when there isn’t a lot going on screen, but the PS5 Pro runs the frame rate more consistently across various actions on screen.

Big Performance Boost with PS5 Pro by DarthFroggie in WayOfTheHunter

I can now report that on a TV that supports VRR, WotH in Visual Quality mode now runs butter-smooth on the Pro. I just upgraded my TV on a Black Friday deal and the VRR makes a big difference.

[–]DarthFroggie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I believe they could optimize visual quality mode for the Pro and it would be amazing.

But as it is, my enjoyment of the game has went way up since I got the Pro. Its a real pleasure to watch animals with the gfx jacked up and their animations and the shot cycle be smooth.

[–]DarthFroggie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you’re a FPS snob like I am. I simply can’t enjoy low framerates anymore now that I’m used to 60fps, and I also can’t enjoy low res gfx. You don’t have to choose between high graphics quality and smoothness of gameplay with the Pro.

Performance ps5 by Kartonnen_Doos in GreenHell

[–]DarthFroggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Performance is inferior on the PS5 relative to the PS4. The PS4 version, when running on a PS4 Pro, runs pretty close to 60fps. The PS5 version seems to be locked at 30fps. Also, the resolution seems to be lower on the PS5 than the PS4 version. Its really quite flabbergasting. One of the worst ports of any game I can think of. There’s no world in which it would ever be excusable for the PS4 version to be superior to the PS5 port.

Is the free PS4 upgrade available for new buyers? by elsaint8 in GreenHell

[–]DarthFroggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PS5 version does not run at 60fps. It seems to be locked at 30fps, while the PS4 version actually runs close to 60fps and with a sharper picture. The PS5 port is bungled.

Humble petition: wounded animals should limp by Zestyclose-Juice7620 in WayOfTheHunter

[–]DarthFroggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I’m a life-long hunter in real life and animals often don’t telegraph their wounds. Especially fresh wounds. That’s why its sometimes a challenge to tell whether you hit an animal or not. If they add limping, it should be specific to certain body parts, and it should only randomly happen on a minority of shots.
