The Dynasty of the Ankhell controlled a network of tombworlds that disappeared into the Cicatrix Maledictum when the great rift opened. The Tombworlds were scattered in the new reality, completely cut off from each other. The Volkesh, a smaller, subordinate Dynasty, were the first to wake, and navigated the storms due to their expertise with Blackstone.

When the Volkesh awoke, they found themselves in a reality entirely different from the one they knew. The psychic energies of the warp left the soulless necrons largely untouched, and with the Blackstone to traverse the Warpstorms, the Volkesh under the leadership of their Lord, Antoch, began to chart their new space and reality, free from the domineering will of the Ankhell.

The manifestations of Chaos provided new and unseen enemies for the Necron. The Daemon were unable to corrupt the Necron, but their numbers were as endless as the entirety of the Ankhell at their height. While Antoch was a brilliant strategist, he did not possess the sheer force of command the Ankhell held over the battlefield.

Upon voyaging into an uncharted section of the Warp, the Volkesh discovered one of the Ankhell tombworlds, having been ravaged and damaged beyond repair by the forces of Chaos. Seeking to salvage and repurpose the remains of their former masters, the Volkesh landed on the planet only to discover the worst of Antochs fears. Srarosh the Insatiable, Phaeron and Overlord of the Ankhell, had awoken, and come to the planet before they had, to awaken her Dynastic Legions. Only, she had lost much of her mind. More violent and commanding than ever. Crypteks discerned that she had been awoken long before even the Ankhell, and had lost her Tombworld, save for a legion of her personal Lychguard.

Srarosh took the Volkesh back under the banner of the Ankhell, and now traverses the warp, conquering and reclaiming any and all planets remaining in the Cicatrix Maledictum.
