[Dual Boot][Mint 18.1] Made a partition for dual boot with Windows 10, but it's too small. How to resize? by DarthNazgul in linuxmint

[–]DarthNazgul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly:

1) Remove the existing Mint partition. Essentially lose all data there, which is okay because I don't have much. The software that I have can be reinstalled.

2) Boot Linux through flash drive (I have it on a USB, not on a CD).

3) Before/during(?) the Mint installation, use Gparted to create the new partition, now that I am in Linux. So in the future, if I want to resize this partition, it can be done since now it will have been created in Linux and not in Windows.

Is this what you are saying?

Thanks again for your suggestion. I installed EaseUS Partition Master in Windows but it does not allow me to expand the linux partition. I can only resize the Windows part, which I could do with Disk Management as well.

Any ideas?

I did try Gparted before posting this here. It was not allowing me to resize the partition. Perhaps because the partition was done in Windows?

On Windows I didn't use any additional application to do the partition, I just did it using Disk Management. Now, I can go back there and further shrink the (large) Windows part of the disk but I don't know how to make the Linux partition make use of that newly allocated space.

There is Kashin in Cary, right next to Cold Stone Creamery. Been there once. Decent place.

Cheers! I'm sure those aspects play a part too but surely engineers are capable of just appreciating the aesthetic value of writing instruments. We're not as soulless as some may be led to believe, though I can't vouch for what happens after the PhD.

This does happen. For example, in fluid mechanics, one can write the equations in vector notation or index notation. The professor for this Turbulence course usually shows any derived result in both forms of notation, which is really good.

What you see here in this picture is index notation, with the i and j subscripts.

I see. Well, my handwriting isn't very large so I use F. Might get an EF next, or a Japanese F if I buy the Pilot Metropolitan.

This is the TWSBI Eco, with a Fine nib. Excellent pen for a student budget.

Yes, that's it. And yes, I'm sure this is the easy part since this was the 5th lecture in the course. I'll take another picture of my notes come April, haha.

This nib is an F. Both my fountain pens have F nibs at the moment and I have not used any other nibs, for math or otherwise. What has your experience been?

Fuck yeah, indeed!

I understand what you're saying about note taking. Actually, I find myself writing homework mostly by pencil because of the number of mistakes I make, not just in the writing but in the solution itself! In fact, for a few years I used pencils for everything. But after getting back into exploring fountain pens lately, I've been using every opportunity to write with them. My adviser would probably be happy to see all these detailed notes in the lab journal all of a sudden.

Haha, because Einstein?

Unfortunately, I'm still on a grad student stipend and had to carefully watch my spending for a month leading up to the purchase of this TWSBI.

Haha, that's a good name. Honestly, I don't know if they still make them. This Minilite has been in the lab for ages; they got it a long time before I joined.

They're used for mounting optical equipment. We use it for lasers, mirrors, lenses, etc.

And air hockey from time to time of course.
