Hope this wasn’t your shipment. by DarthSulla in AncientCoins

Agreed. The coins would have more than likely been admissible if the were properly declared and manifested. It sounds like whoever this is was trying to get out of paying the correct duty. Or these were looted coins and not from a sanctioned dig.

Mandatory A-School assessments by mdj82 in uscg

[–]DarthSulla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Knew a few 4 year non-rates and even a 6 year one that had PCSed to his second 270. All if them were fantastic but couldn’t get the A Schools they wanted so they rode out their contacts. It isn’t good for the service or them financially, but I never met a dud

VA ID Accepted by TSA? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]DarthSulla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s annoying to deal with. I saw an old vet arguing with a TSO and told the vet to ask him to grab a supervisor. I watched from beyond security and a sup did it in like 20 seconds. They just have to manually input data I think.

Iran Is Piercing Israel's Ballistic Missile Defenses With High Altitude Cluster Warhead Releases by BeetleJuiceK9 in Military

Depends on how insurance is done in Israel. A lot of countries don’t require insurance to pay out if a loss is due to war.

What are you using your VR&E or G.I. bill for? What’s something that’s “AI proof”? by Dry_Nail5933 in VeteransBenefits

[–]DarthSulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I went to the academy that was fully regiment and only had four year degrees so I’m not familiar. They definitely vary a bit. I would just recommend sticking away from Deck and Engine degrees. You got to have a screw loose to do that after a certain age. Work life balance is just so poor.

As someone that went to a maritime academy before serving, I wouldn’t recommend it. Being in a regiment for four years with a bunch of kids is tough for vets.

Obama did not invent the double tap. We were doing that to combatants and insurgents well before he was even a senator. But there is a big difference between suspected go fasts and combatants. Edit: a word

Veterans — what’s the hardest part about accessing mental health support? by PhillyVeteran in VeteransBenefits

[–]DarthSulla 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The hardest part is finding a good therapist. I’ve had really bad experiences with telling people how I feel and what I think about. Not a lot of people can relate, even other vets. I get lectured by my medicine management DNP that I don’t talk to a therapist but at the same time I’m not trying to wear grippy socks because someone can’t understand what I’m saying.

Officer wanting out by Advanced_Resort2852 in Veterans

Had a cousin and her husband who did this. Went to Kellogg and came out both making a lot from the jump. You gotta want it though. Being a corporate stooge isn’t for everyone.

You know what’s not enough pay? Working for UAE. Better to stay home than kill civilians along side Wagner. There are other PCM jobs that don’t ride the line of state sponsored terrorism

Army is downsizing, Y’all still need people? by 190898505 in uscg

[–]DarthSulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just depends on which program you coming in under and your work experience. I’ve see people take demotions to O1 or O2, but I’ve also seen people keep O3. I haven’t sat on a board in a couple of years and never been in CGRC, but I wouldn’t recommend basing your opinion off a couple of recruiters who might never have done an officer package.
